"Anger room" truly a good outlet for anger?

- A woman in Texas has created an "anger room" where, for a price, you can destroy the room's contents to release your anger. Anna Werner reports, then Jeff Glor and Rebecca Jarvis speak with Dr. Jennifer Hartstein about the effectiveness of this service and ways to get out your anger -- productively.
I made my own rage room in my own house.
And I get the stuff from yard sale super cheap!!!
+Lea wilson The clean up is the problem
Good for you.
Can i join
Lea wilson Your smart bruh
I think $25 for 5 minutes is fair considering the whole room will be fucked up within 3 minutes lol
@@whatsaaappthesequel I can’t believe people make jokes about hitting their wife. It’s not funny :/
@@whatsaaappthesequel Your jokes aren't funny
@@whatsaaappthesequel wife beater 😂😂😂 jk
@@whatsaaappthesequel I agree
I need an anger house. I have a lot of frustration built up.
I just let my sister take her frustration out on me!
The “expert” at the end made me angry and want to smash stuff
For me it was the lady in the pink.
Hahaha nice
She's got a point. The anger room lets you take your frustrations out on inanimate objects as opposed to people. But, releasing the pressure valve doesn't fix why the pressure valve needed a release in the first place. Obviously, people with loaded wallets can afford to do this more often. But, for those of us who can't afford to do it that often, they need either a cheaper release or to escape the stress.
Exactly lol
Same
Jumping jacks is not going to get rid of rage .........
No, DOOM does.
Yes the hell it does..then I get too tired to be angry
You’re right sometimes you just wanna break things or peoples faces
@Charlie Fiction dont be that guy, let me smack up shit, and after get a breather and laugh my ass off, and felt i loss weigt, maybe structural rage and anger should be adressed otherwise, but a direct outlet sometime is neccesary
you cant deny the fact release the killing intent you always had enduring tons of hardships and resulting an anger. damn. even i would like to try this room once in a while.
I cannot stress enough how much yoga doesn't help because while I do yoga I still have those stressfull thoughts, and rage in my bones, that breaking a bunch of things really relieves stress more.
yeah meditate and yoga stuff can help you calm down, but still you will have a feeling inside you to break everything apart, and i think is more better to bash some stuff than bash someone skull.
but always remember that your family and friends are there to help you
This woman passed away. RIP to her.
She was murdered by her estranged ex boyfriend.
Which lady?

@@Deftthekidd Bro I need to move to wherever the hell you are if you can get a gym membership for 15 a month! Here in my town a membership is like 70 a month. Granted they have really nice equipment, some automatic so you dont need a spotter, but still
This shouldn't be seen as a form of therapy, it's just fun to take a bat to stuff and smash it. You don't get to do that in real life without negative consequences. I think it's a good idea.
Well I get angry easily and this works
As someone who suffers from depression and anxiety, I really would like to have this kind of therapy. I've been suppressing my anger all my life, but that came at the cost of that suppressed anger turning into anxiety and sadness. Recently I started to have violent thoughts. I started to feel real, genuine anger, and the first time I had those feelings it scared me so much, and it still does. It's just an alien feeling that feels so wrong. With my life history, my clinical conditions and life circumstances, something like this was meant to happen.
I really hope my medications and therapy hold me back from acting out the recurring violent thoughts I've been having recently.
@@defytony5594 I feel you Tony. My situation is very much like yours and probably like many others who bottle their anger. Therapy has helped and I am on pursuit to becoming a therapist myself. The psychologist here is right in terms of longterm solutions since professional therapy techniques and solving the problem is how we actually heal. But is wrong to say it is bad because even therapists know that there are extreme levels of emotions that require immediate distractions which aren't good for longterm but great for short term. The rage room is a great short term solution when dealing with intense anger in way that we don't regret later.
All I can do is roll my eyes at the psych lady. Just wow.
She mad because her husband maxed out her cards after living with her....
Drewnashleigh she needs the anger room
I did the same thing. Im like bitch the gym, psych, boxing ect. Cost money. Dogs cause money. Not everybody can do jumping jacks. I get her but she makes it sounds so simple.
Tyler Meisenheimer same... let go helps soo much
So thick. People are so judgmental about aggression itself. Good recommendation, lady, maybe we should all just suppress our anger, sing cumbaya and start a yoga class.
I met a guy outside an anger management class-room, he told me he was barred from going into meetings. I asked him why, and he replied he'd shown up early for the meeting, the door was locked, so he kicked it in! (It's a joke by the way).😊
Doctor Din Dong sounds like most psychologist. Don't max out your credit card in the Anger Room, mac it out with her over years of therapy to find out what you already pretty much know
Go break stuff and work your problems out in a deconstructing manner
Amen
I think competition is better.
She said yes and no that it can help yet she only spoke about why it can't help. Why so one sided? If you ask me she looks as though she has a lot of tension also. She looks like a screamer or a drinker. Let me tell you, some times you can go through the entire yoga and whatever and still be mad as hell. Sometimes you just want to scream into the wind or jump off a bridge or out of a plane. But sometimes you just want to break something. She says boxing is good? Really? So she's saying it is better for me to hit someone than something? what crap. And she is saying it doesn't remove the problem, but does yoga and the gym etc. make the situation better? Some people's frustrations are worse than other people and require extreme measures. People who do yoga kill people too and maybe calmly learn how to hurt people in a calm way rather. They may also be the ones who commit suicide because they are bottling things inside. Maybe she has a vested interest in making this idea sound bad
The irony is she says go do boxing, which is essentially identical. Boxing is violence against people, anger room is violence against inanimate objects. You're probably more likely to turn to violence against people if you turn to boxing for anger issues because you're associating actually hitting people with anger.
Basically she's talking a bunch of bullshit.
You know therapist like to look at violence and a negative way yeah that's all bullshit coming out of her mouth because I really think she really needs to get off on something and I do believe and I agree with this guy that she does look like a screamer or a drinker or maybe both she could be both well that's complete bullshit actually we are going to Vacation over there I can't wait
Fr, she makes no sense. It's all used as outlets, why does it matter which one we use? She just spewed crap
I wish they had one of these near me I would LOVE this whenever I get angry I always want to break things but I contain it and I just scream
I need this so badly. Especially being someone who has a lot of life problems and has no control over them whatsoever.
I need one of these in my home.
My she Rest In Peace ❤️
the tvs look so satifying to break!!!
Not to me because I did that alot until the guilt of me doing that came back to bite me in the ass
The psychologist said it doesn't solve the problem.
Yes true. But the problem is, after you finish the problem, the *feelings* are never going to end
I'll pay for $75 for 2 hours.
$75 is for 15 minutes, not 2 hours
Malik Ervin more like 200$ for 2 hours
I need this I imagine all this in my head never knew it was real
I feel hitting my head on the wall is not a good idea breathing and just makes me even angrier
Is it bad that i smiled the whole time while watching this
Nope
Hell yeah this is better than my phsycologist
Letting out your feelings by smashing stuff relieves the pressure when you’re overwhelmed by emotions. Those emotions aren’t always anger. Relieving the emotional pressure will clear your mind and let you think things through. There is nothing wrong with mental stress relief aides and rage rooms are a great stress relief. As long as you’re not overusing it or using it as your only source of stress relief.
I’ve done boxing at a time where I was most full of anger, and it did not help that much for me personally.
For $25 I'd want more minutes
We need these everywhere
These are SO therapeutic
I used to get away this many years ago. But my parents won't tolerate it anymore. Even karate wasn't enough.
Well ms psychology person. Therapist are expensive too! Plus it’s fun as hell. Also exercise does not get rid of rage.
Me : *goes into anger room*
So anyways I started swinging
So sad how her life ended in the way she tried to help others.
She was murdered by her ex boyfriend

I hold in my anger and sometimes it comes out at small things that bother me, it makes me seen like a psycho but I haven't found a way to deal with it. Not even smashing stuff.😤
I just let my sister take her frustration out on me! She enjoys that!
Unfortunately it's way too expensive to even go to one and I have always wanted to go to one and let out all my anger out.
$25 for 5 minutes to destroy everything in sight. A bargain in my opinion. I'd pay double.
We live with so much frustration and covering that up gets more and more difficult but when we can release that in a orderly fashion all at once can and will help us alot
or just build your own anger room and shop at thrift stores or take a look in the scrapyard.
If we do not take out anger on that person if someone make us angry then after sometime we take out anger on another person who is not that much guilty.... So there are two option first whoever make you angry take out there only your anger. Second option never angry on anybody.... Promise yourself to get never angry on anyone
Seeing this makes me feel calmer.
I wonder if people donate the stuff for "customers" to break
God, I love living in Texas.
*gets mad*
*walks up and down stair*
i just feel SO much better
"Find a way to release those feelings if you can't change the situation" umm hence the rage room? Taking a breather or walking the dog is not always helpful because instead of releasing the frustration, you're suppressing it, thats how I see it. Everyone has a different outlet, and this breaking stuff is just an option
Also I want to say talking about things never even help me with stuff. Councling sucks it was never really helpful. It sucks because for me and I have a severe mental and learning disability it's hard to control my anger. It's a struggle 😢
Its All fun and Games Till some dude starts breaking shit with their fists.
Lol I’m feeling better just now watching these guys break stuff
I need an anger palace for all the anger i have
Rather than hearing something you already know from a therapist, I'd rather break stuff
I’ve gone to one it really helps ngl
I wish this was in the UK cause I feel like I want to destroy something all the time when I get mad.
I'm planning to go to one next week
No one said you couldn't pair long term anger sollutions (reading, breathing, exercise, etc.) with a short term rage release.
$25 for only 5 minutes? That's such a rip off! I can go to the dump and smash shit all day for free! XD
w
+unnamed715 Eehhhh not as satisfying breaking something that ain't broke.
Spades Neil
Actually you can find a lot stuff that isn't broken at the dump. You'd be surprised what people throw out. Look up some dumpster dive videos sometime. People find working TV's, DVD players, video game consoles, PC's; all types of shit! :P
+unnamed715 I stand corrected.
Spades Neil
It's all good man, no judgements here. ;)
This is a magnificent idea
It's not that people snap real quick. People wait patiently for a whole month and deal with all of the upsetting things the other person does. Then the other person brings a little thing that bothers them and then that's when you explode and tell them how about when you do this, this, and that! So no waiting for more than a month to say something is not having a short fuse.
Expressive outlets are Healthy! Talking ain’t gone always work especially for minorities. There aren’t many minority counselors equipped to help our black and Hispanic troubled youth. This idea is cost efficient and helpful
i would totally go to that smash room
This is in Dallas? I live an hour away from Dallas I will definitely check this place out
And then u can go to a therapist after 🙂 both seem amazing
Breaking stuff does help for most!!
Better to break stuff than to hurt others!
The “expert” made me wish she was part of the rage room
Fire Baller find a photo of her face and put it on that mannequin
Is no one gonna talk about the news person at the beginning shaking his head when she said never
I jus scream in my pillow lol
Stress management is about motion; not destruction or catharsis . . . these people just want their emotions to be felt by others.
Honestly, the studies done on catharsis were probably lame. For example, the one where someone punched a bag, then they had a test on things and showed more angry emotions. The thing is, did they complete this catharsis? Were they given, like, 30 seconds on a punching bag? Were there follow ups to see if it worked long term?
The so-called knowledge this psychologist has is based off of one lame ass study and we all know that this, done right, helps. Blowing off steam is great.
But.... This place starts at $25 for 5 minutes. I don't think 5 minutes is enough at all. Just my opinion.
No, they're not "lame". Think about it. Does that look "constructive" to you? Really? You're essentially teaching kids to break things when they are angry.
@@4TIMESAYEAR yeah, man-babies and...woman?...babies? Are the only ones doing that. No kids mom is gonna come in and say "yeah I need little Timmy to break shit, Waivers? No problem! Safty risks? No problem! Probably some sort of age limit? No problem!"
what if you pay for say 10 minutes but have calmed down after 6? they should let you pay for extra time and then refund the time you don't use.
@4TIMESAYEAR kids should've been taught how to regulate and validate their emotions by their parents, but bc parents failed, ppl get angry. So yes, rage rooms are very constructive. I'd hit up a rage room then hit the gym. Parents taught kids to ignore their emotions when they were little.
Female news reporter: "I dont get angry"... yeah I call Bullsh*t
I would call it "the RAGE room".
everyone agree that we all are here because we are angry
I would like to see how to basic make a video in there
no, the anger room is not allowed to let how to basic guy enter because everytime he throws food and the eggs at things, it's against the rules
That would be really fun but sadly there isn't any eggs.
Nah how to basic has it better. Not only does he have a rage room. He’s got a rage house.
Damn. Just when I thought I came up with a good idea. Nope 5 years too late. Oh well.
how is it too late.. its still a fairly new concept
Same here, I got to this video by googling to see if anyone else had my idea... Still possible to do though! I doubt there are more than a handful around the country
you can still make one in your area, there's hardly any that i know of
zeek it’s not too late, you could make your own and do it better
@@psilopsychic what improvements could you suggest?
Everything would be replaced if I was in there, cuz my parents don’t know when to leave me the hell alone.
The nearest Rage Room is a 90 mile drive from where I am now, but it's like 10 minutes from where I USED to live.
Can you guess how I'm feeling right now? 😡
Complete lack of sex makes me far more angry than any of these people could even imagine
I need this sometimes
Sometimes life’s problems aren’t just solved by yoga. I do yoga I’m still angry at my life problems sometimes a one time shit fest can make you feel good and that you’ve got it all out . Yoga and breathing and all that keeps it inside.
I do a good bit of scrap metal so I should do this, with safety percautions of course
I need this

I live with a narcissistic husband who harasses me and provokes me constantly..an anger room would be awesome for me!!
or divorce?
TL DR: The Anger Room/ Rage Ground are very good temporary stress relievers. It will never do anything for you to know how to the handle the stress on your own. Go to it more as a fun thing to do that has the added benefit of relieving stress. NOT for a successful form of therapy.
The lady in the red dress
Love her points
By your logic, in concept, every food company does the same as this prostitution. When people eat food to eat food for a quick 'release' because theyre sad, etc. 'It may turn into an addiction. But hey, it feels great!' This is either A) too poor of a comparison, or B) by admitting the 'addictive' properties in this, you must also admit the addictive properties of everything in everyday life, such as your personal schedule, how you go to the bathroom every night at 9, or otherwise, etc.
I need one here in EAST LOS ANGELES
I fucking need this. Give me those rooms and put on my metal music and then theres no stopping me
I want an anger room! Krav Maga is only twice a week and I don’t have time for kickboxing class to add to that. Breaking shit feels so good! Screaming at the top of your lungs is supposed to be scientifically good for releasing anger, as long as it’s not geared towards another person.
Just listen to some music and try to connect to the song your listening to. I really wanna break something cause of my annoying mom, but I know I'd only get in trouble, music would be better.
This room wouldn't hold me
