In a way you allready got your wish: The fader to play it tonally is more reminiscent of the ectro-theremin/Tannerin than the actual theremin. And the Ondes Martenot is maybe just the best (and first) concept of an electro-theremin to begin with. Also, no volume antenna but a touche - maybe not d'intensité - but at least "de decay". You might also want to check out the Therevox ET-5 (not sold at Stylophone prices, unfortunately).
I had a cat that I named Theremin. I would wave my hand near its head, and she would raise the pitch of her “meow,” and bring my other hand near her tail, and the volume would increase. I won’t say where the 1/4” jack was plugged.
The theremin needs to have a cv out. Imagine playing the drone one with the slider and the theremin sound with the antenna. Or adding another synth sound to the theremin.
I just got the Beat last month and had the GenX1 for a couple years, they are fun to jam with haha. Looks like I'll be building a new system soon. GAS lol 🎶💯👏
"This is the first of the compact portable modular (CPM) range". So there will be more of these little beasts! I love everything I have heard from the DS2 so far, but I am afraid that this and any following CPMs will act as a gateway drug to the expensive modular stuff...
What are the eurorack specs for the DS2; specifically, the power requirements? This isn't on Modular Grid yet and I would like to put it in my expansion rack to complete my system, but I am running out of mAs on the +12V rail. The website doesn't have the specs either.
In this instance the sequencer was sending CV pitch to the first oscillator. Sending pitch to the oscillator but not "notes" in the traditional sense because there's no volume envelope or anything to separate each change in pitch voltage. You could ostensibly plug in a MIDI keyboard that outputs CV (Arturia Keystep for example) and "play" the oscillators but you're not doing anything other than changing the pitches of the drones.
The front panel looks like plastic. I'm used to having ALUMINUM PANELS (Doepfer, Behringer, Intellijel, Mutable Instruments, 2HP, ...). I could do well without the speaker, in change of an aluminum panel.
Can't wait for both. Stylophone are killing it right now
This is a nice Fx atmosyphere one
Cool to see Matt representing Stylophone with some interesting new products.
Excellent move from Dubreq to take this direction, bring it on!
sounds lIke a phenomenal ambient instrument. amazing reverb and workflow
both are a really interesting products. I would love to see in the future a Stylophone version of the Ondes Martenot with modern features

I need the Theremin !
I really want one of these. It just sounds good.
A lot of interest over on the KVRaudio forum for both of these new bits of kit. Well done!
Ambient and now theramin revival 😅😂
Awesome!!!🌟🌟💯💯
The anesthetics of that theremin make it a must buy. Shame it doesn't have cv. Imagine playing cv signals from a couple of those things.
Bowie would be saying "It looks like Stylophone has finally grown up!"
so hyped for these products as they seem a lot of fun. Would love to see them working together somehow

Hope we'll see GEN R-8 again...

CPM-DS2 is one sexy little box
With a horrible name 😂
@@va941starwars inspired
@@gossipboynyc9625-VN That was the first thing i thought off also :)
This sounds good :)
The idea of a theremin is good, it looks great l, the advert video sounds great but.....have you heard any usable sound of it in this video?
Yep heard plenty, thanks.
Looking forward to getting both!

here we go :) great to see in action :)

What’s the hp on this bay ash mother trucker? I’m a big fan
Will the Theremin get external power as well?
Any new gear from arturia? Or Roland?
So no midi means solely droning and not playing then? So what did the sequencer do then if not triggering notes?

@@pdlkmusic I see. Thanks for explaining 👍🏻 A bit strange choice, but it still looks cool

I dont think it is, the sides are though
the absence of midi in is a deal breaker for me sadly
CV is the way to go! Maybe get a converter.
Use a keystep or something like that.
@@danpreston564 I got Keystep and Minibrute 2s for that.
Yea no need for MIDI, keep it cheap please.
