Schrödingers Thresh: You throw lantern to dying teammate, they don’t remember what the lantern does and dies, but if you don’t throw the lantern, the teammate knows exactly how much shielding it gives, how long the cooldown is, and how far it can go. The teammate is in both states of knowing, and not knowing, until observed
Thats why its recommended to play duo q in lower elo when playing a champ like thresh. For Solo q in low elo its easier to carry with brand, zyra and swain.
The graphic you put up for the skill tree doesn't match what was actual "said". You say, put 2 points in E then max Q, but the graphic shows a pretty standard E max first.
One of the best videos you've ever made. Very informative and visually stunning. Helped me alot, especially the one with the lantern to block the path between tower and wall.
A small tips for low elo players(for example,me),if you land your hook on an enemy with blink like ezreal,or enemy with flash, try to reactivate Q at the last possible second to catch them off.
And if you want to achieve this it will be better to walk (during the time of hook) on the opposite side of target which you hooked. The reason is to make the distance longer so when you reactive your Q, you will give more time to your opponent to do flash /dash.
I had my first round as Thresh a few minutes ago It was so fun! I supported a Jhin on bot lane and in the end I had 2/0/18 And now I want to learn how to play him optimally because I just read what his moves do and was like Okaaay I can work with this for now
What about stoneplate rush and stopwatch in runes? stopwatch is incredibly good to set up a dive and to juggle turret aggro, and stoneplate synergizes well with aftershock and makes you incredibly tanky.
I guess you can deem that situational. If you think you have dive potential with your comp, I don’t see why you should feel obligated to stick to the aforementioned runes. ;))
I really like this video and it's super helpful. Especially where you said that you can hook monsters to escape, I didn't know that. However I also think it would be helpful for you to describe each ability because I still don't really know what Thresh can do other than hook or throw a lantern that does something
I´ve been maining Thresh in s4-s7. After that I got tilt by rank and turned into Aram main. This video reminds me on my crazy "time to shine-Thresh" moments. Ty guys
I v e almost 1 M mastery points on thresh and i m d4. Really good video but i ve something to say about the build you might run. Instead of bone plating i d suggest taking second wind since that rune is super broken to make trades without going too low on health especially in the early game. Then instead of hexflash take future market to allow yourself that boot powerspike that you need asap in order to make plays and roam. For the build don t go Knights Vow since it it does not have a good synergy on Thresh since he is Ranged (Knights vow is only good if enemy team has a dangerous assassin and you want to redirect some of the dmg to yourself instead to your adc). Take cdr rune instead of dmg since thresh passive grants him infinite dmg and that 9 ap bonus is not that useful in any scenario. Don t take the Ad/HP support item but take The Ap/HP item, synergies better filling that 9 ap you left for the cdr rune. Instead of Knight vow you can both decide if to go with Shurelia or With a Redemption if enemy team has a lot of figters, grants you 10% cdr so you ll get to 35% cdr. And last thing if enemies have an heavy engaged comp go for a gargoyle stoneplate, activate it when you re close to at least 3 people and then use your solari, your shield will be huge and your enemies will have trouble to deal with that. Hope i was useful :)
Flay can be really devastating against Irelia if you use it to interrupt her Q. She doesn't get a Q reset if the dash doesn't go all the way to the enemy, so if you flay her out of it she doesn't get the reset. As an Irelia main I've been screwed by a good Thresh flaying me out of my Q in a team fight many times.
I love that u talk about thresh but I hate you for that as well, cause the enemy support is gonna pick my main before me :( and absolutely suck at it xD
I fell in love with Thresh the day he came out, saying that it's the champ made for me. Mained him for a few seasons straight, and i have to say, if you are not confident with your assessment of dmg, just build full tank. His E gives him way more dmg than you would expect from a tank on top of being a cc tower that can stand in the front and take aggro of the enemy team. Utility builds with Zeke's and Knight's vow are nice, but you are still the one that's supposed to tank dmg when needed. And sitting on 2k hp from full utility build won't help you much.
IMO knights vow isnt that great as a core item because of the reduced stats from him being a ranged champion. Redemption is better as a core item and Knights vow as a situational
Knight's vow isn't really that situational though. Thresh likes buying health, armor and cdr. Even generic tank items like Deadman' s plate, Righteous glory and Frozen heart are great on Thresh is certain situations. Sure, you only have half the value of Knight's vow's second passive, but Redemption also scales heavily with bonus heal and shield power, which Thresh isn't going to build outside of redemption. Neither of them is tailor build for him, but that just means more room personal choice as both items are fine choices on him.
Something I find interesting. A friend of mine who played strictly support for years (since Beta) but has since stopped playing always told me, and still tells me, that he hates Thresh because he feels Thresh's kit has no synergy (in that it doesn't know what it wants to be). This, of course, baffles me as I regularly play the game and have followed the eSports scene and watched many, many interactions that state otherwise. My friend is strictly a tank support player and I just find the polarizing perspective really interesting.
I know it's not the subject mentioned here, but thresh has one of the most diverse kit of any champion in this game, a true thresh main could go full dmg or full magic dmg and still perform in a solo lane. He has been my favorite pic since I started playing this game
Not that I'm contracting but as thresh I use precision rather than inspiration as secondary with presence of mind and legend: tenacity for I believe it gives more what is needed throughout the game

But it has more defensive starts than redemption. If you really need that armor there it is not that bad, otherwise yes. there are better options.
What about stone plate tho?
I go for it when team have no real engage and i will be in there
Knight's vow isn't really that situational though. Thresh likes buying health, armor and cdr.
