Friday Fly-Day - Entwistle Alberta Bridge FPV

Driving back to BC over this bridge in Entwistle, AB on an early morning, we had to stop and get the FPV in the air.
For FPV flights, a Visual Observer (VO) must be deployed to track the drone and ensure no hazards approached us such as low-flying aircraft, and able to communicate with the pilot, using a handheld GMRS radio. Because this drone is over 250g, at least a Basic Pilot Certificate was held by the PIC, and we needed to make sure we stayed at least 5m away from bystanders.
Prior to flying the DJI FPV, a Mavic 3 was used to determine the locations of wires and hazards such as the cable span to the south of the bridge, since in manual mode, collision avoidance is disabled.
With our VO and site survey quickly conducted, we determined the area was safe and launched the FPV. Traffic was minimal and we made sure to stay high enough over the bridge to ensure no hazard or visual distraction was posed to any vehicles.

The DJI FPV. One of the few with a manufacturer's safety assurance declaration which makes it great for FPV in the city or controlled airspace.
