  • Motorcycle Oil Pressure Switch Test Plus Oil System Clean & Refill | Honda CB750 K | Part 7
    In this Honda CB750 episode, I test and replace the oil pressure switch. I use a simple multimeter to check the switch, it shows that it is an open circuit so that the oil light will not come on.
    Here's what I used in this video:
    Circuit Tester Multimeter: ebay.us/zRaJq8
    20/50w Oil: ebay.us/1oTFMf
    Oil Filter: ebay.us/J1L8ZG
    I remove the oil tank and associated pipes so that I can clean them in a degreaser. I then dry them thoroughly so that there is no moisture left in them before refitting. I use new Viton O rings for the connections.
    The oil filter housing has been cleaned and repainted and the filter is replaced with a new one. I then add 2 litres of oil. I also put around .25 of a litre into the rocker covers. This will flow down into the sump but will give some additional lubrication to the rockers etc when first starting.
    The system should use 3.5 litres all together, but the tank capacity is 2. Once the bike is started the oil will need topping up to the right level.
    I was intending to run the bike starter to get the oil pressure up to enough to switch off the oil light. But research indicates that this could take some time, and as it was a freezing cold day, I decided to wait until I actually start the engine. However, I have run the starter long enough to prime the system.

    Great video again. Did you change the filter casing. The one you took off looked black . The one you put on was silver

      It was the same one. I have just looked back at the video, and impressed myself with how well it cleaned up. It did involve some light blasting and a coat of VHT paint though. I'm planning to have the engine out and go over all of the casings, hopefully to the same standard, but it's a little too cold at the moment.

    Hi there🙋‍♂️
    What is the size of the Honda CB750 oil pressure sensor switch socket. Can you please reply thank you so much 🙏

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  5 месяцев назад

      I believe it is a strange thread, in that it is tapered so the sensor doesn't go all of the way in. I have no way of measuring it, but I know it isn't a standard metric thread. There are a lot of forum posts about whether it is an American or British standard. My money would be on the British Standard, a lot of international standards where based on UK stuff back in the 50s and 60s when the CB was being designed. I hope this helps.

    I have got to ask, why did you choose 20/50 oil instead of Honda's recommended 10/40 ? i run my CB750 K1 on 10/40 semi synthetic with no clutch problems at all.

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  4 года назад

      Hi Arthur, the '72 manual I'm using does say either 10/40 or 20/50.
      As I've avoided synthetic or semi because of forum comments about clutch slip, I was pretty limited to only using 20/50.
      Having read your comment I might use semi-synthetic 10/40 next time, it's cheaper, cheers! :)

    Hello, never know how to send a message here, quick question, I have a 1976 CB750 Honda, appears oil is leaking from neutral switch, any thoughts on this, should I just be done with it and buy new switch and o-ring? thank you

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  5 месяцев назад

      If it is leaking through the switch I don't think there is anything you can do to rebuild it. Probably best to just buy new.

    Those sensors for the oil and water coolants sensors should be changed evertime you change the oil or coolant.

    • @SPANNERRASH
      @SPANNERRASH  Год назад

      That seems a little excessive, it would add quite a cost to the oil change each time, and on these it is every 1500 miles. But I can see where you are coming from.
