- "Wind Beneath My Wings" (sometimes titled "The Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Hero") is a song written in 1982 by Jeff Silbar and Larry Henley.
The highest-charting version of the song to date was recorded in 1988 by singer and actress Bette Midler for the soundtrack to the film Beaches. This version was released as a single in early 1989, spent one week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in June 1989, and won Grammy Awards for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year in February 1990. On October 24, 1991, Midler's single was also certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for shipment of one million copies.

The way Geoff plays guitar is so smooth it's a pleasure to listen to. He's one of the best l have heard since Hank.

Geoff you still play the best music , love to listen all the time I’m that one who told you about my grandson’s collection of guitars, but at this time of sorrow I just can’t put down how I feel ,on Friday the thirteenth my wife of sixty five years passed away, (not the Conor Virus). She had heart failure, we often listens to your music at bed time she loved the back grounds etc. we have a large family (and I mean large) 4 of our own 2 boys. and 2 girls, they in turn gave us 9 grandkids, 22 great grandkids and 3 great great grandkids. I call that a blessing ..we had a wonderful life together, right now I’ m having trouble sleeping but your music does help ,my favorite right is WIND BENEATH MY WINGS,, by the way I have a large collection of eagles. , thank you for letting me get things off my mind.,a lot of memories to keep me going and give me strength to keep going . GOD BLESS ALL. This is that 86 year old ,the calf wild man..

I would have loved to be able to play this version at my Dads funeral later this month, he loved this kind of music and was a big fan of Hank Marvin and the Shadows. This version is beautiful.
It seems quite often, that people are playing my music at funerals these days!
Our funeral director said that we wouldn’t be allowed to because of “copyright issues.” I’m not sure if that means they would need your permission. His funeral is on the 18th of this month and I know that he would have absolutely loved your rendition of this song, so if you wouldn’t mind us using it?.. That would be perfect!
If the funeral director contacts me (geoff.p.reeves@hotmail.com) I will give permission, and send them the original MP3 of my recording.

When my brother married some 25 years ago, he and Mom did the mother / son dance to this song and it was apropos, as Mom was in fact, the wind beneath all of her children's wings.
