For the young guitarists out there, all these videos, i.e. shredding, legato, super legato are all fabulous resources...When I was coming up it was necessary to listen to a solo 50+ times in order to get an idea of what was happening...Whether it was Jimi Hendrix or Wes Montgomery... Just remember that all these techniques are available to help YOU bring out your own style, whatever it may be...We don't need another Alan Holdsworth, or Randy Rhoads: One is enough!
Thanks for passing this along, Mr. Rhoads music is really appreciated when one tries to play any of his known music. A devoted master of the fretboard and a genuine person Randy was, and he would be flattered to know how many guitarists he has inspired over the years. Good lesson. And thanks again.
@6paidaa Hey thanks for watching. This lick is actually taken almost directly off of Randy's unaccompanied guitar solo on the live tribute album. Years before anyone in the US heard of Yngwie. Of course after that Yngwie took it to a whole new level, but I still think this classically influenced stuff was very much a part of Randy's playing. :)
Dude, your channel is amazing...every video has teached me something, been playing guitar for 9 years, self-taught, and is amazing to see someone who really loves what he does and doesn't charge for it, i will make a pay-pal account and donate to you on your website..thank you for all the lessons dude, you'll be up there with Randy, Dimebag, Dio and all the greats one that are now in a better place.
Hey, this gave me another way to use the sweeping-technique, whom I´ve been neglecting for so many years, but trying to apply to my repertoar now, thanks :)
It definately is straight out of his spotlight solo! Awesome videos thanks dude! BTW Randy would have been Yngwie status if he was still around. Have you ever heard the audio of him instructing a music class at a university on how to play licks from his songs? He lets loose in one part on a clean amp when showing the class an example of him practicing alternate picking. It was blazing fast! Not as impressive today maybe, but he was definately ahead of his time!
I like your series very much. If you get around to it, I hope you'll post some in the style of Uli-Jon Roth, Tommy Bolin, Charlie Christian, and Kenny Burrell.
@eViLJ666 - No worries, maby the best place to start is to read up and have an understanding of the Major and Minor chords, and learn well-used progressions such as the 1/4/5 and the 1/5/6/4 in the Keys of C,A,G,E & D. Then Perhaps the Dom7 chord, and study up the 1/4/5 as used in the 12 bar blues, :). I would leave Dimsihed chords until well later, :)
Cool lick and lesson man thank you, but it would be very helpful if you could tell us what scale are chord your are basing it off so I know when to throw it in, in a jam
Someone mentioned Yngwie, and he has truly amazing chops. What seperates Randy Rhoads from him is that the fast stuff HAS personality and feeling when played by Rhoads, while with Yngwie it's a lot of fast for the sake of being fast.
Robert arthur So are you trying to say Yngwie was all flash and no substance? Lol he dwarfs Randy in every department of guitar playing. But its not Randys fault he didnt live long enough...
Im having immense issues following along and understanding the part where you move across the fretboard. The first 6 notes were well taught but the confusing part is quickly skimmed over and I cant follow along. Ive spent over an hour trying to figure how to make just 1 advancement
You are completely out of your mind. This is Randy all the way. Ywngwie was not a thought in the US at this time. And this goes back to the 70s as far as this lick goes with Randy leading the way.
Ywngwie is a DICK , he just tried to be the fastest , he didn't or doesn't have the talent Rockin Randall had and never will , and you're right Randy was burning up fretboards long before Dicky Mo Malmsteen was , peace brother
Just enjoy the mans vid and stop replying i get that you dont agree with me i respect those opinions , but mine is what i sad it is.If you disagree well ******* xD

The shredding solo on Suicide Solution off of the Randy Rhoads Tribute album is what reminds me the most of this.
Your lick videos are great. Randy Rhoads are my favorite guitarist of all time.

Randy was a genious
you sir are a good teacher! this was the missing link in my playing, you break it down so well...subbed!
I had no clue Rhoads used diminished arpeggios, great lesson, very eye opening!

Beautiful ! TU Carl...Amazing player and outstanding teacher.
Best guitarist and guitar teacher on RUclips way to go Carl thanks
Hey, this gave me another way to use the sweeping-technique, whom I´ve been neglecting for so many years, but trying to apply to my repertoar now, thanks :)

@CompulsiveOrigami Yes,Yngwie uses it alot, but here he teaches it in the style of Randy Rhoads
listen to the live solo at the end of suicide solution, he does this in almost all of the recordings
great lesson mate

Thanks....great lesson!!
@eViLJ666 - You play a normal Minor Chord, and simply flaten the 5th. So you end up with R, b3, b5, :)
Excellent
@DeadHappyFilm Yes, yes they do.
Where is teh tabs for this. I can't find a link on your site. Please Help. Thanx
How would you apply this diminished run in a solo?
Well done. Thank you!
@dj0431 WHAT PICKUPS ARE YOU USING? (in a teasing way)
Isn't this the diminished shape used VERY often by Yngwie?
Awesome! thanks a lot
Thumps up if you love Randy Rhoads
awesome - thank you!
Well said that man!
@GuitarLessons365 What positions?

@@lifegoeson2422never

What pick up in what position?
What chord are you using to create the arpeggio
thanks!
Plss tell me your Patch in this tone
Im having immense issues following along and understanding the part where you move across the fretboard. The first 6 notes were well taught but the confusing part is quickly skimmed over and I cant follow along. Ive spent over an hour trying to figure how to make just 1 advancement
i love this arpeggio kinda neo, power metali ish
Awesome
MIinor, minor, minor, minor....
what key would this be based out of
that was explainde very well
Randy was the best.
Why are there two guitars?
Yngwie actually says he was influenced by Randy
Who knows, maybe if Randy was still around today maybe it could have been his department.
I envy those long, thin fingers: perfect for guitar playing, unlike these god damned stubs I'm lumbered with....
Nb Forrest
Penis
My guess is A Diminished

Don't you love it how people keep on saying it sounds like someone else XD
& you play this on what ?!?
"Just sweep up..."
I'm out.
Just play the damn thing! Geeeez
who doesnt?
I wish science would have cloned Randy Rhoads a few times over.
quack quack oops
Do pick ups really matter guy's really.
First! yeh!
Just enjoy the mans vid and stop replying i get that you dont agree with me i respect those opinions , but mine is what i sad it is.If you disagree well ******* xD
ça parle trop,joue bordel !
i don't wanna know all of randy's secrets because i might become an even better guitarist than randy!! haha just kidding of course
great vid but this is more of yngwie's department of playing licks the lessons great and all but , randy has a different go at the instrument
6paidaa I'm afraid not
