Good to hear the POV of a professional stand-up comedian. Personally, I think a lot of the people there have bloated egos, which is understandable because they're famous worldwide and have successful careers. Jo Koy's monologue was okay, not the best, but okay. It was just a tough crowd, a tough night.

Possible. I agree, his jokes are okay but not in an offensive nor obscene type which Hollywood is accustomed to. Plus, let's be real, Americans are more bias to people they know. Unless you make them feel that you don't give a f*ck about them like Gervais, or are really established they won't respect you. That goes to any field of work in US, by the way.

Nobody else wanted to do it. I was surprised Jo Koy got the gig. He did not do as horrible as people say. Also, if you watch it again it was not that much different from he's own shows so what more did you expect. Some celebrities understand and back him up. It's not serious, not serious. It's comedy and you should just have fun. You should have a good time. Jo Koy will be fine. He is actually more popular than ever.

I watched the actual official video of his openning monologue and stopped at about a minute and 30 seconds. I feel BAD for Jokoy but the Jokes are just not funny. Ricky Gervais sort of set the bar for hosting that awards show. I think Ron Josol will do a fantastic job given the opportunity IMO.

Agree with Alex. I think he explained it well. Di din kc sya sanay sa ganung crowd unlike ung mga fans na paid to watch him coz they like him. Vice versa kc they don't know jokoy. Sanay sila sa mga vibes ni Tina Fey & Amy or Jimmy Kimmel. Also for me ung delivery nya din, sana he could've had more confidence sa jokes. Yung kay Taylor, it wasn't super offensive naman, di lang funny at meh ung pagka deliver tapos nag sorry agad sya after not owning up to the joke. Sana skip nya na lang ung Barbie joke, that was more offensive parang di nagets ung point ng movie. Unlike Ricky Gervais, na kilala na nila plus totoong Wala syang pake at kayang harap-harapan ioffend ung mga celebrities. Calling them perverts & mentioning Harvey Weinstein. One of my fave.
I do think people were harsh, I hope he can learn from this experience and maybe include it on his next special.
Jokoy did well….the celebrities can be self absorb and critical specially if they are not aware who the host is….of cors they will set some expectation. Jokoy he yes he “roast” people…specially during his improvs…but whenever he does it…he does it with charm and respect.

Jokoy is a comedian and a stand-up on a global level. Your speculations are only as good as ours. It didn't occur to you na baka may politics involve sa part ng mga writers? May laziness sa part nya? sure ka? Lets not forget that his an emergency host , at may possibility na he has a lot on his plate prior to receiving the hosting gig at the Golden Globe. The best Golden Globe host ever is Ricky Gervais. And the reason for this is because he did not hold back. His jokes are insulting to alot of people if taken the wrong way, but he did it in a manner that was very clever. Yung kay JoKoy, medyo nag hold back sya, he even apologized after he made a jok. He really didn't go all in because I felt like he was too scared to offend anybody. I am not a comedian hence I am not entitled to critique, but what I know about comedy on stage is that you either go all in or go home. JoKoy didn't go all in, I really felt he was holding back. Sayang.
The fact of the matter is, They are A listers and he was unknown. They did not give him a chance. He did not cross the line and he did not offend Taylor Swift. Taylor has a big ego. His Joke was very on point, a lot of people were fuming during the NFL because they showed Taylor Swift more than the game. So what was the mean thing about his joke about his less exposure? If that was Ricky Gervais they were laughing outload. Ricky roasted A-Listers really below the belt, but they were LOL.
It's better to joke to the ordinary audience because they have a sense of humor.. good job jokoy to roasting the elite Hollywood actors 💩💩💩💩💩

Some was just riding the ugly truth of a bandwagon opportunist. They just always wanted to be on the winning side. Some even says it is funny at first but when the people they look up to says otherwise, it easily changes their own personal view as if they get easily influenced by it.
And, for me not having to stand by your own principle would be the biggest joke ever told.
Jo Koy will still be Jo Koy and will still be one of the best there is.

Hosting stint in US is faaaarrrrrr waaaaaay different than how it is being pulled off dito sa Pilipinas. Kasi may writers' pool na tinatawag sa US and it meant preparation for those who are involved even if it's 10-15 monologue. Howard Stern said that JoKoy was given a very limited window of 10 days lang kumpara kay Jimmy Kimmel which took 6 months preparation, kung hindi naman discrimination tawag doon ewan ko lang

simple lang some artist sa audience feeling superior nasanay na may nakatutok na camera, kaya pag nakunan ng stolen shots kita mo real reaction sa face.Theres no dirty jokes on Jo, tlaga lang nkalimot of being humanbeing ibang artist akala nila forever sikat.
Take it for what it is. Jokoy did well and don't compare him from previous presenters because each has his own style. The crowd with all due respect were expecting the usual but it was something different and they were just surprise and absorbing what was happening at that moment.The response to from celebrities present were good. Some might be offended for personal reason but it was delivered in the spirit of the occasion. The Golden Globes Board chose him among dozens and Jokoy fits the bill. What was said by the host were scripted and he was articulate in his delivery and funny. I'm happy for -Jokoy. Remember critics and know-it-all are always there to get attention. You just can't please them all.

Jokoy script was weak and poor context set up. He read the crowd room and failed to adjust and had an almost near melt down istead of poking fun at himself, he panicked and he threw the writer under the bus! maybe his ego got the better him. He turned on the crowd instead of coming up with another punchline ad lib to counter their non response but working up the crowd.But bad news is really good news in show business. Hope Jokoy learn his lesson and become even bigger after this flop like Steve Harvey.

Yes tama ka Alex kasi na mix kc ng hosting and his hosting is not his thing. Kc stand up comedy ang work nya and not hosting. Ang mali ni Jokoy yong di ny pinili ang hindi nya sasabihin. Ayaw na ayaw ni Taylor ang ginagawan sy ng bad info or bad joke kasi 2beses na sya pinahiya sa stage na pinagtanggol sya ni Beyonce and others. Taylor is traumatized before and very strict on that then dapat di na ne touch ni Jokoy or otherwise he should have informed Taylor 1st before the event para mag paparticipate si Taylor na tumawa. At dapat research ka ano klase ang audience mo if conservative ganito joke mo dapat if balahura at bastos ang audience pwede ka mangbastos na joke pero if meron ng history na yong host ay sinapak ni Will Smith dahil bastos ang joke eh dapat si Jokoy di na nya yon inulit kay Taylor at tinanggihan yong joke odi kaya wala sy choice eh magpasintabi at inform before the event si Taylor na hey Taylor I have a joke about u and the NFL i hope u dont slap me like Will smith did. I mostly agree with Alex. He's a comedian himself so his take on the incident is reliable. The points he cited make a lot of sense. Huwag naman sana maging harsh kay Jokoy. He did his best. It may not be impressive but it was not something to cause so much embarassment?! He'll bounce back and there are still a lot of opportunities out there.

I respectfully disagree with Sir Alex regarding JoKoy getting lazy...Although he has writers to help him out, 10 days to watch all those nominees - not just movies, but tv series as well, is too much workload considering JoKoy and his team are required to make their materials out of those nominees wherein others have months to prepare. Also, like Howard Stern said, (not verbatum) those actors have hired publicist to make sure they would not have bad publicity so pretty much they would not like to be subject of the jokes hence, that room really has a tough crowd. Pretty much the crowd that night are snowflakes. 😂
As talented as Alex is, wala pa syang experience on that level na millions around the world ang nanonood. He can only assume but how can he say someone is lazy kung ikocompare lang nya sa local hosting ng corporate events.
