Thank you for a nice informative video as always! Looks very capable on the rocks, remind me of the crazy Icelandic hill climbers. The front and rear end suspension and dampers/springs looks like it will take inspired driving, and beefed up driveline and shafts not only look well made from good materials, it will centainly stand up well with high tourque motors. This is a good one! Looking forward to you try it in is natural element, a rock quarry! Cheers.
Just finished a Ryft kit build with Xerun XR8 plus 2250KV motor and 2S - 6S ESC combo (and all Treal upgraded). I wired it to run two of the 4300mah version of the battery you used so it’s 6S equivalent. You read that right - a 6S Axial Ryft! It’s completely insane, but surprisingly controllable with the Flysky FS-GT5 / FS-BS6 Tx/Rx. Hopefully I can get some decent videos before I destroy it.
I've seen these with brightly coloured cages and body's, but the gery with the camo look fabulous. The subtle details definitely make this build. I won a Yeti a few months ago, and I'm interested to see how good this is with 2 solid axles, as opposed to the independent front on the Yeti. Great, well balanced video. Love it. 👍🏻
Hello, I bought the motor/ESC combo you recommended without watching the entire video...oops. I started the build and noticed that I have an interference with some ribs in the bottom plate and then the ball link for the rear linkage like you mentioned just after 11:20 in the video 😊. What did you do to overcome this? Thanks!!!
looking forward to seeing your run, don't think you will have much trouble handling the rig. Not a that far of a stretch from your beginning days with the bashers, shorter stretches at full throttle and mostly uphill is about the only difference. Still waiting on all my parts to arrive so I can do my build.
RC GIRLS i.am huge fans thanks for sharing this video me and my family like so see your videos always I wan days i wan to meet you whit my friends thank for everything
Would this be a good ultra4 rig? Also, would you still use the same setup on this rig if you had to do it again? Is the Rock bouncer becoming more popular at events? Great channel thank you
Thanks for another excellent video; you manage to pack a lot of information into a short time. I'm amazed at where demand for perfection has taken the RC industry.... With all your building, working with vendors and video production, do you still have your day job (marine biology)? Thanks
Ha yeah! Thanks for recognizing all the work it takes to do these builds and rc projects. I do still work full time and try to fit in as much RC in the evenings and weekends. Never enough time in the day ..
@@RCGirl Very impressed....I remember those young, multitasking, creative, midnight oil days. Now, long married, two productive daughters, four cool grandsons later, I'm simi retired and have too many hobbies. You do a great job and I enjoy your passion!
Really wanting to do this build... but want to build to be a crawler more than rock bouncer.. But new to picking out motors and esc for this type stuff.
Try shimming the shocks with a little bit longer screw and a washer or shims. Or maybe look for a better shock post that gives you options to locate the shocks.
Is there a visual comparison between gen 1 and gen 2 axle housings that anyone knows of so we can make sure it's not something we need to address in the future if we get one secondhand?
The 17t (fits a 5mm motor shaft) that came with the kit. Had to get an adapter to fit it to my castle motor. After running it a bit, I think it's perfect for my2400kv motor setup on 3s. Haven't tried 4s yet but I'm already thinking it will be too much haha! I also ended up taking out the 2speed gearset. It added some slop before the gears would engage on startup and a sensored setup has plenty of low and high end power where the 2speed adds unnecessary complexity
@@RCGirl thank you very much I ordered the motor today after watching your video last night I already had the copperhead sitting just wasn't sure which motor to go with my daughter is going to be racing it when I'm done so I appreciate the heads up on the slop with the 2 speed gearing in I am gonna pull that out it did seem like there would be a little slop to it the way it engages happy the 17t isn't too much on 3s that's what she's gonna run it on for now anyway and if I have to gear down some to run 4s I will I was afraid even on 3s that 17t would be a little to tall
Sold my Ryft, bought the RTR which was a disappointment. Axels snap, servo horn is a waste of time. If you buy one get the servo saver from the Losi LMT. That one works a treat. 👍
I used the Reefs Micro 99 for shift. Here is the vid I did showing what mods I did to make the shifting linkage work, mount these taller servos (yours is also taller). If you or others have not figured something out, this works really well. Little to no stress put on the servo or shift shaft. ruclips.net/video/wzAlmCDKjIQ/видео.html
A couple "pointers" to help you where the shocks & micro servo are concerned. First, regarding the shocks, as many have discovered, the shocks have a few 'problems'. As you discovered, the springs don't compress perfectly straight, causing rubbing against the shock bodies. Additionally, advertising to several others, they're prone to leaking. I've discovered that the Traxxas GTR shocks for the UDR fit perfectly. Get the 134mm (front) UDR GTRs, and add 4mm of internal limiters to two of them (for the Ryft's front). For the rear, replace the shafts with the shafts meant for the 160mm versions, which will lengthen the shocks to...yup, you guesses it...145mm. Just to keep some oil under the pistons, you might want to add 1-2mm of internal limiters. As for the springs, that's where things get minorly-complicated. The "solution" involves creating a dual-spring configuration. Get 4 packages of the GTR Spring Retainer kits (7468X), and using CA glue, affix the two spring retainers (from each package) back-to-back...then, either clip or file off the threads (the other parts in the kits can be held as 'backups c, if/when they're needed). Do this with all 4 packages, giving you 4 "spring separators". Each shock will require an upper springs, and lower spring. For the lower springs, use front Slash GTR springs...and for the rear, use rear Slash GTR springs. For the front, you'll want the softest, or second softest. For the rear, the firmness can be the same as the fronts, or one firmness level higher. Getting to the upper springs, use the GTR springs for the XO-1 (as with the Slash springs, use front XO-1 springs for the Ryft's front shocks, and rear XO-1 springs fire the Ryft's rear shocks). For the front, medium to medium-stiff springs...and either the same, or one step firmer, for the rear. I have a thread on the RCC forum documenting everything, work myself, and another person, having been doing all the testing. By going this route, it'll be a 1,000% improvement over the Ryft's stock shocks. As for the micro servo, I, too, am planning on using the PH59MG...and, like you, I discovered the micro spline 'problem' (ie. the SX107 has a 20T micro spline, while the 59MG (like the Reef's 99) has a 25T micro spline). PowerHobby's lead engineer, and I, have had a few phone calls about the 'problem' (to be honest, they didn't even know, as the servo saver design on the Ryft & Capra is different than the design of the SCX10-III's servo saver). Since our first phone call last week, he's been busy working on a 'solution'. And, based on yesterday's phone call, it appears PowerHobby DOES have a solution...but, it's going to take the factory approx 45 days to manufacturer & ship the list piece that'll be specific to the Ryft & Capra. As soon as this new piece is stateside (the factory is, obviously, overseas), they'll ship them to anyone who ordered the 59MG servos differently from them. If someone ordered the servo through another source, they'll need to contact PowerHobby for the piece...but, again, wait at least 45 days before contacting them. In the meantime, Art (the engineer) had come up with a an alternate solution, which he 3D printed using PETG, and is shipping me several of these pieces.

I super appreciate your balance of charisma and matter-of-factness. Such a great contrast to some of the other RC channels.
I agree 100 percent just seems the real guys with honest reviews
The birds singing in the background just top off this terrific walk through of your build! Awesome , thanks!
Those panels do look nice with leaving the cage plain. Few videos I've seen with the RYFT, it was awesome, you're gonna love it!

Does the panels also come with the roof panel or would yoi have to go with aftermarket panels?
Great work with your videos ! Have you considered the Spektrum Crawler combo ? Would it make a good crawler in addition to rock bouncer ?
Yeah I think they were out of stock when I was getting electronics
I can't wait to get the Kit
How do you get the two speed shift fork to not get bound up? Mine seems to stick and take a lot of torque to shift…
I have a dynamite 2200kv motor 74mm in length to big the 1415 is 69.5 how does it fit ? They recommend the spectrum firm 2200kv it much shorter hmmm?
I like your version of this! I see a storm trooper! Great build and vid!

Just customize the servo horn that is included with the servo but trim it to function with the same size as the kit horn.
