Just simply my cup of Tea!! Luv everything, fabric pairings & of course the vintage patterns! Lu luv that vintage! I luv bows, pleats & wide collars! Just simple wonderful!😊
Thank you, Grace for the walk down memory lane through the vintage patterns! It brings back wonderful memories of my mom as a young woman sewing up those beautiful patterns, she is now 96 and no longer sews I am grateful she taught me to sew ! I know you will make good use of your new prayer journal, we certainly need a lot of prayer warriors in this time in history that we are living. We are having some rain this weekend in the panhandle so I plan on using my time wisely and sewing! Have a great weekend.
Great time to sew when it's raining! Yes, I just started the prayer journal this morning. Maxine is a wonderful person to write this book. Enjoy your weekend!
Wow Grace, the two tops you made are beautiful and I love the Paris fabric (from Walmart👍). I don’t own any vintage patterns and I don’t know why🤷🏻♀️. I need to look for some 👏👏. Thank you for sharing your great pattern haul 🤩🤩
Hi Grace! Thanks for sharing your patterns. The styles were so elegant and fitted back then, but then again, it was the girdle and Twiggy generation. LOL I have vague memories of my brothers girlfriends stopping at the house on in those large skirts and feeling wowed. I was about 5 years old. That was in the days when the guys put on their suits and ties and did Elvis hair styles with Brylcream for a Saturday night dance. I love the polka dotted top. You should make it again in a less wrinkly fabric. I might try that one. 👗👠👚🥿 Bernadette
Yes Bernadette, people dressed very nice back then and really put a lot of thought in their appearance and style. I'd like to make the sleeveless top and add the bow if I can find a nice fabric. You should definitely try it too! 🥰
You always get such a good fit on your projects! I like seeing how you style your makes. What fun to see these vintage patterns and to see them modernized!
Loved looking at those vintage patterns, oh the class and style they had in clothing back then ❤. You have two really cute new little tops there. The blue vogue is fabulous with the little bow at the waist. You did a fabulous job on both! Thanks for sharing ❤cx
Thanks Carole! I noticed the Vintage patterns, barring the Jiffy ones, have many more pattern pieces and the techniques are more involved. I like that because it challenges me. Both tops were unique and I hope to sew up more Vintage patterns this year. Have a great week! 💖♥♥♥♥
Ooh la la😊. I love vintage styles. Great patterns! I made a vintage collection last year. I definitely want to make the top you're have on. Super cute ❤
Love them both on you Grace! ❤ Enjoyable video on your vintage haul.....so many fashion memories. Also, I adore the France print fabric, I was born in France but left when I was very young.
Hi Grace! Boy, do I ever remember a lot of the fashions you showed. Most of all, I remember the very first pattern you showed -- the ruffled top. When I was around 7 years old, I had several tops like that and I just loved them. Matter of fact I think of those tops quite often because they were fun to wear and really cool in the hot summers of Kansas. Ok, ok, I want that pattern, too!! LOLOLOL... Love the top you made! Isn't it so much fun to meet up with someone you chat with on-line? We have some great people here in the sewing world. I'm going to go over to Maxine's channel and pay her a little visit. Happy Sewing!
Yes, I'm glad they brought those tops back! Now I have to find a good fabric for them. Definitely let Maxine know we are friends. She's a real sweetheart. Drop her a line. I hope to see you again soon Deb! Have a great weekend!
I love both of the tops you made. And I loved the colour and material for both as well. They added so much to the tops. I remember my mom wearing clothes like these and have always loved vintage styles from the 50’s to the 70’s. Well I started sewing with the 70’s patterns. Still have them too. It was good to see you again this week. Friday & Saturday’s are my days off, so I can’t wait for Friday’s to get your videos. ❤
Wow Barb! That's so nice to hear that you look forward to my videos! I hope to continue to bring you exciting makes and interesting content. My goal, as you know, is to inspire and it sounds like I'm doing that! Have a wonderful weekend! 🥰💖
You had me in giggles with some of the fabric names😊French fabric names are not often used these days on our American patterns. lol I have many of the patterns you chose!!❤ I went on a 1950's kick a while back that lasted a few months lol but I still love those styles. I have made Gertie's 9296 and it is a fabulous dress. I adore the top you are wearing!!! xo God bless your weekend.
Yes, those fabric names caught me off guard as I was recording the video! 🤣🤣 But, like I said, I learn something new sewing everyday. Oooh I bet your Gertie dress is beautiful! God bless you! 🤗🥰💖
I'm an 80s girl but ive always loved 💕 the 50s esthetic. It reminds me of my beloved grandma. Ive also been collecting vintage patterns. I want to be able to make one of these but modernize it so it doesnt look like a costume.
I remember sewing the Jiffy patterns when I was in my early teens. Fun to see them again. I was just in Joann’s recently and saw all the retro patterns. Love them! ❤
Good morning, Grace. I love both of the mugs. S9279 would look fabulous on you. Well, you would look fabulous in all of them! That is the reason you picked them, right! Ha ha ha.
Grace you are indeed graceful and lovely in person and as a Sewist. It was an early birthday delight to meet you in person and thank you❤ The patterns are inspiring. I own 2 of them but you make me want to get all of them😂 thanks got the shout out of my book 🥰 already looking forward to the “next time”
OH and we both know that there will most definitely be a "next time"!!! I'm excited.🥰 It was such a joy to meet you. A real joy that is rare to experience in these times today. I am enjoying my prayer journal each morning and I will continue with it all year. Go ahead and pick up those vintage patterns when they go on sale.👗 They are truly a treasure and fun to sew up and wear. 🪡 Have a lovely day my sew-coffee sister! ☕♥
Oh, Grace. That peasant top. What a nightmare. I was wearing/reviewing that when a car nearly crashed into my house. That gusset gave me fits! I hope you have better luck. The 1960's one-shoulder is so pretty. I learned about peau de soie (poe-de-swah) back when I made wedding gowns - pretty sure it's that really heavy satin, those dresses that really hold their shape over a crinoline. I love your 60's vintage top! That polka dot is so cute and perfect for it. Your Gertie top (the last one) is a TNT for my BFF Trish, I think she's made it at least 2-3 times. (wait, that's where you saw it! I'm typing as I watch lol) You always look so good in a pretty sheath dress. Can't wait to see these made up. Now I'm off to see Sofia Sew & Pray - thanks for mentioning her -
Yes, I remember that video Jen! You were on the news. Wow. I'm still going to try the top. I love that Gertie shirt pattern. I overlooked it until I saw Trish modeling it. A great pattern, for sure. Sofia Sew & Pray won BEST DRESS in her Tea Party event for that Poofy Gertie dress. Lots of fun! 🥰
I want that 1950s top pattern , the year I was born😂😂😂😂. I made that Jiffy dress pattern when it came out! I made it with white dotted Swiss😂😂😂😂. Peau de soir is a fancy word for silk, if I’m not mistaken 😂. Worsted is wool🥰
i learned a lot of new fabrics with this pattern haul!! 🤣 Always learning! Dotted swiss is beautiful. I need to buy some and sew it up! Thanks for watching! 💖💖💖💖
What a fun pattern haul! Your blouses are really cute, too! I love the little bow on the first one (I can't remember the number.) It's super cute, but yeah -- 11 pieces?! That's crazy for a shirt. Of course, I'm sure back then it was pretty normal. :) Have an awesome weekend!
Yes V9187 is nice but a ridiculous 11 pieces! You could definitely handle it but it's definitely not for the beginner. I would guess it was common back then too. Enjoy your weekend my friend!

Hey Grace! Up until about 1970, dotted Swiss and seersucker fabrics were commonly used in ladies garment making. I clearly recall my friend's mother using dotted Swiss for my friend's dresses (I got her hand-me-downs), and my mother made 2 top and pants outfits for me with seersucker - one pink and one blue. The short pants back in the '50s and '60s were called Peddle Pushers. Love the 1950's reprint B5880 pattern (black dress and white dress). Such a classy style and the neckline is unique. Your grey/white polka dot top is darling and is my favorite of the two tops you modeled. I've never been one for bows on necklines of blouses, not sure why that is. Looks great on you and other women though!!! Just doesn't work on me. Loved seeing your vintage patterns. I agree several are not actual vintage reprints, but clearly the designs are inspired by vintage clothing styles. Anything goes now in this day and age! Glad you got to meet and have a nice visit with a YT subscriber. Good for you both!!!!! 🥰
