I love this show, and I enjoyed this episode, but I think it's weird that Jessica was concerned that Kris was trying to be careful in her dating life, and was trying to push her to be more active and aggressive (then got mad at Kris for actually following her advice and going out with Scott). Most parents would love to have their children take the caution Kris initially does. Kris shows a lot of wisdom as a teenager, knowing her limits and when to stop things. Scott is actually pretty nice about it too.
I agree. Jessie's hypocrisy and her pressuring her daughter really bug me here. Jessie is an airheaded, naive ditz. She 1. lets her kids and a kid she brought who isn't even hers, go on some overnight boat trip with a total stranger , 2. gives the details of where her kids are and who they are with to ANOTHER stranger. Not the best mother.
bays are safe from sharks in Hawaii because theyre still inside the reef. the Only way they get over that is if the tides are high like in the winter time.
I didn't like Kris in this episode. Jessie is always there for the kids, takes them places, helps them with things like school projects, is there to listen and give advice. She goes on one or two dates and Kris acts like a spoiled toddler. I don't get it.
This may be the worst storyline of the series. This is a family drama series, about an ordinary family, facing ordinary life issues. Yet, here, they have them getting involved with diamond smugglers, haha. Meanwhile, the Crimshaw subplot was maddening. Was waiting for Gus to smack him. Completely unbelievable that anyone would be that much of a doofus, and use his friend's house, and get hiccups, and then need his friend to help him propose. Can he tie his shoes? They make him seem mentally handicapped. And yet, even though he's a big idiot, this attractive younger woman is crazy about him. Then, after the boat guide with the terrible southern accent gets hurt/fever/etc, we're led to believe she's on death's door - but we never find out why. What happened to her when the boat exploded? Was she hit with debris? She has no marks on her body. We get no explanation. But then, after all her shivering, moaning, and convulsing, we get the convenient little "she's gonna be fine; she'll be scuba diving in a week!" Come on, TV! 😄 And I didn't even get into how fake it looked when the pilot was giving them a car tour around the island! That was hilarious!
DONT EVER TRUST HAOLE GUYS, AND SHE HAS NO BUSINESS DOING THE HULA. only Hawaiians, mostly men. have the right to do that, the hands tell the story, there was a time in Hawaiian history when it was kapu for a woman to dance that. kailua high class of 1973 here.
I'm starting to see why this show was cancelled. I loved it as a kid, but as an adult, it's getting old fast. Molly, Bertha, and Mr. Kaplan are the only decent characters. Kris has no personality at all. Jessie and David barely have any personality. And we always know how every episode ends: grandpa saves the day. As soon as I heard that grandpa wasn't going to Hawaii with the others, I knew instantly what would happen: there would be some sort of disaster and he'd show up to save everyone. Yawn.
