I'm generally speaking not a fan of "modern" yacht design, but this yacht is more than just easy on the eye, it's beautiful. I'm sure that you didn't miss it in editing, but just look at how little she disrupts the water that she's in. Barely a bow wave and no wake to speak of. Form and function. I wish you guys all the best with your new vessel. Well done!
This just shows the benefit of moderate displacement, moderate beam and a long waterline. For contrast my boat is 3m longer, has 0.5m less beam and is about the same weight and sail area. As a consequence she is easier to sail and faster with lighter loads.
I do think people misunderstand modern yachts. I think problem really just comes when people buy modern production yachts that are "cheap". You have to consider that most modern yachts come with tons of luxuries, and in many different models depending on person and use case. But overall, I would take modern built yacht every day over older one, as long as it's built well, it's just going to be safer and perform better. Generally, I think what people are actually not liking is what they are just seeing more boats that are made for different purpose than what they would want.
She's a beauty. For some reason I was drawn to the solar arch / davits - just the single elegant support leg each side instead of a forest of tubes. I'd be scared to sail her, she's so immaculate!
She is beautiful! Congratulations. You chose the right builder and design. The interior is finished perfectly. We share your pride in our new "adopted" boat.
Congratulations! Over 20 years of enjoying your content. Had the pleasure of meeting you multiple times at the Annapolis Boat show. What a beautiful boat, wish you wonderful times on her as you take on new adventures. Thank you for bringing us along virtually.
That is without a doubt a beautiful boat and she is aluminum which means she go everywhere, north to the Arctic Circle and south to the warmth of the Southern hemispheres sun.
It is always an adventure when imagining a boat from a drawing, a picture, or even a computer generated walk-through, to the finished product. Glad yours was to your liking.
The boat looks amazing! Congratulations to the 'interior designer'!😉 It's a fair bit of heeling for 10-12 kts of wind. Also, 9 kts of boat speed with that kind of wind is pretty impressive. It's about 'hull speed'.👍 No telltales on the sails?🤔
Hi Sheryl and Paul, I would like to congratulate you and the team that built this magnificent yacht. I hope she has the ISO 12217-2 certificate which is very important for commercial sailing yachts sailing in European waters. Recommendations from the videos I have seen: 1.-Very important not to leave 90 degree edges on the corners of the instrument consoles and accommodation furniture, which can cause damage to the navigator in adverse weather conditions. 2.-Lithium batteries should be housed in a closed, fireproof and ventilated box. 3.-The wire of the handrails should be with a nets for the child passengers safety. Have great adventures sailing on this beautiful boat!!
4:12 those push button latches are the same that I have in my caravan and you will learn to hate them. They get sticky inside and fail to open, they’re hard on your fingers when they get older as they all suffer from greater friction when trying to open.
WOW! Simply wow! - The beautifully documented build of Distant Shores IV is the icing on the cake after several years watching projects on RUclips. “Methodical Madd’s” and his “oh glorious sanding” has shown what a dedicated amateur can truly achieve with an old GRP boat. Leo on Tally Ho, a master of his craft, who along with his North American team of phenomenal craftsmen have fabulously and methodically restored a $1 abandoned wreck. Now Enksail have combined modern CNC and traditional skills into a work of art.. Thanks to the kind generosity of Sheryl and Paul, I have been able to view Distant Shores IV from both the outside and inside. From the fairness and engineering of the aluminium hull to the exquisite design and quality of the interior - the only words I can find are “awesome”, “stunning” and “masterpiece”. Enksail must be very proud of their workmanship quality and rightly so. The smile they have placed on both Sheryl and Paul’s faces will not be disappearing anytime soon. 😁
35 deg apparent or so and 9 kts. Just spectacular! Add in cruising gear weight and may drop A touch, but monohull can handle weight well! So happy for you both on your next chapter!
Congratulations, I have been following enksail since years but this is first time we able to see more in every details. thanks for sharing with us. in future I would love to hear the sailing performances polar scheme, I am extremely impatient to see you in open waters and the performance of Orion 49. Wish you smooth sailing forever
That is some sturdy boat out there! Great stuff! Nice to see her sail and nice too see you guys being so happy. And..... it is finally nice weather in the Netherlands🙂
Truly an amazingly beautiful sail. The interior is remarkably clean and to the point. We loved all aspects of this top performance cruiser and are all wishing you both a lifetime of HAPPINESS.

To Ronald and all of the Enksail staff who had a hand in designing and building this beautiful sailboat. Job well done. 🫡
I just found your old videos and channel, the quality is so high I knew I'd subscribe. Sticking with a monohull is absolutely the icing on the cake.
