My das was a HS teacher and at a new school that we moved 600mi for him to take a job at, (drafting/ technology), he started getting really sick a few weeks into school. He was always around 300lbs when I was growing up so, but that solid-old-man kind of big. He never complained about being sick so I know it was bad because it was even somewhat on my 11 year old radar. I had no idea how serious it was, until one day I walked into my garage and saw 3 men talking and I went back inside and asked my mom where dad was. She said “in the garage”. I had seen him from behind and he had lost so much weight from being sick I hadn’t recognized him. I later learned he had been having all kinds of tests and for weeks and they couldn’t find what was wrong with him and the doctor had said he should get his affairs in order “because sometimes we don’t know until there’s an autopsy unfortunately”. 😳 But he would miss like, Thursday and Friday, and have the weekend at home, and start too feel much better. Then go back to work and it would all start over. Finally mom was adamant it was something in his room making him sick. (He had his own ac unit, own bathroom and break room, didn’t share ventilation with other rooms, on a vocational wing of the high school that opened to the outdoors, etc.) And sure enough under the sink was a bottle of bleach right next to a bottle of ammonia, neither with lids. (That makes a HIGHLY toxic gas!) He was in the room 7,8+ hours a day and it was, indeed, killing him. Kids inly in there 50 minutes at a time were fine. Also explained why he would feel much better after 3-4 days not there. Mom tossed those things and he was perfectly fine. Gained the weight back as fast as he lost it. 😛 My mom, the OG House (1996).
I'm a teacher. I do have $4k to spend on Teachers Pay Teachers. Second thing-- that phone call with the child who doesn't understand has been my life this week because the first due date for online assignments is today.
Hahaha I had to make up a mock lesson for an interview on Friday and I was like... oh god... Love when schools spend too much money but provide plans lol. It's like alright let's take this worksheet, this daily work and there we go :D
EXPLAIN TO ME: WHY PARENTS ARE NOT ASKING FOR TEACHERS SALARIES SINCE THEY JAVE TO TEACH THEIR OWN KIDS. WHY PAY TEACHERS FOR ANOTHER YEAR TO DO NOTHING. GIVE SALARY MONEY TO PARENTS WITH ALL KIDS. PAY THE PARENTS FOR THEIR LOSS? Explain????

"It's the end of the world as we know it...." The expression at the end was priceless.
