Personally, my favourite quest is Blood on the Ice. A murder happens in Windhelm, a woman murdered. Guards are too busy with other things to really solve the case, so you help in their place. You learn other women have been killed as well and that some suspect there's a serial killer. Upon getting access to the house of a previous victim, the scene where she was murdered, you head inside and find a hidden room with more corpses and evidence the murders are connected and not coincidence. You find an amulet that you think will lead to the culprit. Asking around, you are told the amulet belongs to the court wizard.
There, the quest splits. But most people don't know that. Most players go to the captain with this evidence. The court wizard gets arrested and most think the quest ends there, a lame reward of some gold and nothing more.
Then a new body appears, another woman is killed, despite the culprit in jail. Some think its a glitch and ignore it. Others confront the imprisoned killer, only to learn they made a mistake. They are told who the real killer is and given information to catch them in the act. Confronting the real killer, you kill him, allowing you to loot the body for the real reward and releasing the innocent court wizard.
Or, players that pay attention notice theirs flaws in the information given about the evidence and the quest tells you to confront the court wizard as an option, instead of telling the captain. This leads to the court wizard explaining things right away, and you can prevent the death the same way you can right your mistake if he was arrested, earning the reward sooner and with much less effort.
Its a quest that rewards the player for not mindlessly going through it, that wants you to pay attention. Its a quest with many ways to go through it, its a quest many don't get the true ending of. And its a murder mystery

Her, Narfi the beggar, and Nilsine were the ones I feel the worst about, and also why my too-sympathetic ass could never side with the Brotherhood. Like, Vittoria's just a good person being murdered on the happiest day of her life (or what is supposed to be), Narfi's just a beggar who just so happens to be insane, probably because he lost his sister (and still thinks about her and misses her dearly), and Nilsine because she's recently lost her twin, and if you kill her, her mother actually commits suicide. It's honestly sad, and I could never go through with it, so usually I either completely avoid the story altogether, or destroy the brotherhood, unless I'm rping as an evil character.

IF you liked Molag Bal's VA for house of horrors, I suggest the mod VIGILANT and its english voice patch. Molag Bal's voice acting is PHENOMENAL in that one. Despite being a completely different VA, he nails the same domineering, creepy authoritarian voice and cadence.
Also, there's a non-voiced guy (I think it's Olando the Knowledgeable) that's supposed to be a tie-in to the mod author's newest quest mod, Glenmoril, who basically asks you to do a thing and it just transports you right to the climax of the mod. Ignore him and follow Altano and get the full experience. You won't regret it.
also if you're a huge lore nerd, Act 4 is absolutely overflowing with lore about the first era and the Alessian order.

I like the Dawnstar lighthouse a lot. It conveys a pretty interesting story through its journals and scenery, setting up an horror mistery complete with a little puzzle in finding the basement key. The tale is pretty chilling and sad, capped with a wholesome moment at the end, but the reward is pretty tame, more of a reminder of the story than a game changing buff.

Completely agree with you on The Break of Dawn. As much as "A new hand touches the beacon!" is an assault on the ears, Dawnbreaker is SUCH a cool weapon and very useful especially in the early game, as it has extra damage to the undead, and The Break Of Dawn nets you a good sum of coins if you loot all the corpses. The Mount Kilkreath temple is a bit of a slog in terms of a dungeon, but there are more benefits to TBOD than downsides.

I really enjoyed elder knowledge. It was fun trudging through the snow to find the buried dwarven kingdom, fighting the creations they left behind, finding yourself in Blackreach (I really wish there was more to do there that wasn’t finding nirnroots), and finally getting to the tower of mzark. I always thought it was really neat that, after fighting frost trolls, dwarven automata, and all of the abominations in blackreach, the tower is dead silent. I expected to find some kind of powerful creature or dwarven guard there, nope it’s just an elder scroll, and the only thing stopping you from taking it is that button puzzle. And then you just walk out like nothing happened. Its one if the longer ones in the campaign but it’s super memorable for me.

"Touching the Sky" near the end of the Dawnguard main questline is undoubtedly my favorite quest in Skyrim. No other quest is more deserving of the term "quest." You are literally recovering a bow wielded by a God capable of harnessing the sun. And you don't go alone, Serana, the daughter of a powerful Vampire Lord has your back.
You explore a seemingly benign cave. However it's not long into the quest you discover the remnants of a lost civilization: the Snow Elves. You meet a holy knight by the name Gelebor who claims his brother was enslaved by the Falmer, his mutant brethren. If you are to acquire the hallowed bow and save his brother you need to ascend the treacherous path to the Chantry of Auri-El, a place of worship and seclusion far removed from civilization. The only means of gaining entry has you treading the footsteps of Snow Elf pilgrims, gathering water from shrines scattered across a mystical valley: meditating on their wisdom. Leaving Gelebor behind, soon the cavern opens up to a beautiful valley teeming with unique fauna and wildlife.
After the awe of discovering this ethereal place untouched for centuries wears off you press forward. On your way you eradicate intricate Falmer camps, cross a frozen lake, get ambushed by a pair of aquatic dragons, acquire a Word of Power, find ancient Snow Elf lore, recover paragons that open a portal to forgotten treasures, ascend an arctic canyon, and finally arrive at a bridge leading to a breathtaking palace. You pour the water gathered from the shrines into the dais, and it flows into a pattern that once touched by sunlight opens the palace door.
Inside the Falmer stand frozen as statues, still in positions of worship. Looting the statues awakens them from their cold slumber. After investigating the ruins unlike anything else in Skyrim, you enter the main chamber where Gelebor's brother Verthur sits surrounded by statues. After a short speech, a large-scale battle against the statues commences, only ending after the throne room ceiling shatters. A balcony view of the entire Forgotten Vale you just explored greets you.
As it turns out, Verthur was not enslaved, but was in fact controlling the Falmer. He reveals he was infected by a vampire long ago, and resenting Auri-El for abandoning him swore revenge. He created the very prophecy foretold by the Elder Scrolls that led you there, in an attempt to lure a pure-blooded vampire. Only then could he weaponize her blood and use Auriel's Bow to extinguish the sun, cutting off Auri-El's influence.
Serana is not pleased being used in such a way, and going through so much with her at this point makes you give a damn what happens to her. Or at the very least you need to go through him to get the bow. After a skytop battle, Verthur falls. Gelebor thanks you for giving him some closure and presents the Divine bow to you with holy arrows.
Auriel's Bow is an extremely unique and fairly powerful bow that can either do bonus damage to undead and rain sunfire on your enemies, or temporarily darken sunlight allowing vampires to walk in daytime without weakness.
However the true reward is the incredible journey that you undertake acquiring it. Even after doing this quest a dozen times it's highly unlikely to find all the secrets hidden across the Forgotten Vale. It is a certainly long and arduous journey, albeit an unforgettable one. Anyone who hasn't played it is missing out.
I can see why you didn't include it on a top 5 list though, considering it would take up the whole video explaining all of the details. Not sure why I did, I guess I liked it a LOT. Definitely worth the price tag of Dawnguard by itself.

Sadia claimed that she went into hiding because she "publicly spoke against the Thalmor", that was shady enough for me since Hammerfell is at war with the Dominion and rebelled against the Empire for that very reason, also when you give her to the Alikir sometime later a bunch of Justiciars attack you and have a letter that blames the player for causing harm to the Dominion.

    • @michaeltelson9798
      @michaeltelson9798 3 года назад +39

      1) The Second Treaty of Stros M’kai was signed 16 years ago, so no direct fighting between Hammerfell and the Dominion.
      2) Taneth fell 21 years ago and according to an AMA on Reddit several years ago, Saadia is only 29 at the time of Skyrim.
      3) Taneth like the other portions of Hammerfell is a kingdom. The treason order should be a royal decree not from some nobles.
      4) Alik’r is a different kingdom from Taneth, and there aren’t any documentation to the Alik’r claims. They aren’t allowed into Whiterun? If they are on an official sanction they would approach the local authorities for assistance.
      5) To me this is deadly infighting between nobles in Taneth, Saadia could have been assaulted and killed or maimed the other noble and received her scars. As the Redguards hate elves, saying each other is in league with elves would be standard fare.
      6) Magic that effect the human mind or body are considered abhorrent to the Redguards. Kematu is using Paralysis!! A detested spell!

She was a traitor to Hammerfell; more than likely she was treated to a swift public execution shortly after arriving back in her homeland to be made an example of. It all works out just fine without them lying or any sort of bugs.

Then, while Kematu was doing his little speech, I thought, "Hey... maybe it's not too late to change my mind." Then I point-blank shot Kematu in the head with an arrow and he went down. I was rewarded with being able to get Kematu's as well as Saadia's reward. (I was also able to get Kematu's sword/armor/etc.)

16:40 If you're part of the Thieves' Guild, Malborn will become a new recruit. Thought I would mention this.
My favorite quest? Hm. A #randomfave and one I always embark on, will suffice.
It's the one where you return Meridia's Beacon. Like, there's so much loot and septims to grab, on top of *_Dawnbreaker,_* that for anyone looking to do well in Skyrim, this is a good quest to start with, though it's ah, not a quest to be undertaken without preparation. One needs resistances, stealth, and definitely magicka boosters. Carry weight boosting via any means, is also a really good idea, and I always recommend getting the *_Steed Stone_* ability, because it *_boosts carry weight and dispels the penalty for wearing armor,_* and if you can, *_Extra Pockets_* from the *_Pickpocket_* perk tree will help here as well, but that's something that cannot be acquired early.
As far as the House of Horrors is concerned, it may be horrifying to some, but, nah, it's pretty tame, though, I've perused much more horrifying content (imagine if elements from *_Yume Nikki_* were implemented as mods in Skyrim to name one example), and in fact, Dwemer automatons are far scarier than poltergeist nonsense, because, self-thinking/self-aware machines, come on; random crap being tossed about by some soul-starved soul reaver from the X-Dimension is nothing compared to being chased around by a truly killer robot.

Ill Met by Moonlight is my personal favorite. It has that classic story of the werewolf losing control one night, and then it leads to the quest with Hircine and the hunt which was a cool concept. Capped off with some unique armor and blade

The best part of the assasination of Vitoria Vicci quest for me was when I: Stabbed her, watched as the families erupted into chaos, got chased up and down the streets of solitude, found veezara in the chaos, summoned a dremora, summoned karstaag and then summoned duhrneviir. My discreet attempt to assasinate a secondary bait target resulted in half of solitude ripping itself to peices. Got a few inheritance letters that day. Stonks.

My favorite quest: Glory of the Dead
    (SPOILERS for the Companions Questline)
First of all, it's emotional. It's heartbreaking to see the funeral of Kodlak, and knowing you didn't bring the witches' head back in time to save him. It's also heartbreaking to hear what the other companions had to say about him. He was so kind and wise, and he treated the Dragonborn as a friend. To me, it felt like I was at an actual funeral. Next, the burial site of Ysgramor. Having the honor to carry Wuuthrad and to fight alongside the other Companions' is very interesting. Also, learning new things from the other companions such as Farkas being afraid of spiders. Finally, the ending of the quest and Kodlak talking to you. This was the first questline I did when I first started playing, and I was on the verge of tears seeing Kodlak again. It was that good feeling of giving Kodlak his freedom, and the feeling of being granted the title of Harbinger for freeing him. You also get to keep Wuuthrad if you take it off the statue, and you get Ysgramor's shield, which is awesome. In my second playthrough, I did the Companions questline before I finished the main questline, and I saw Kodlak in Sovngarde. It felt more amazing knowing that I helped Kodlak fulfill his dream of going to Sovngarde when he died. This is why I loved doing the Glory of the Dead quest.
