#invalidtraffic #invalidtrafficbug #invalidtrafficglitch #fix
From your explanation , I think youtube should truly come and explain such. Let's remember youtube isn't only made for Americans !! It's a global portal where anyone from every where could watch. Probably the algorithm started pushing your videos to the Asian world because they watched it a lot based on those videos and there's nothing wrong with that. Other than RUclips now coming up with a bias system of format, I stand to be corrected . But technically you are rather being punished for people from Asia watching your videos. There is a bias somewhere that RUclips truly needs to investigate rather than lowering Adsense. Creators have no hand in who watches their video . These disadvantaged pegs should be clearly addressed by RUclips. Just see the RPM in the United States compared to the ones in Asia. Yet still RUclips will be running ads saying Say no to racism. Well, let me go back to my motorcycles.
I believed I found the one video on my channel that is causing the issue. On September 6th, 7th and 8th, it had several large spikes in views. When I check the source of these videos, almost 50% of them are coming from "RUclips Advertising." Which I am told could be other sites using my video for ads. My channel had a sharp decline in revenue on September 10th, just two days after these spikes in views from this video. I have since made the video private as well as checked the box that prevents others from using my videos unless they are linked. Hoping this helps!
Creators should be able to prevent certain countries from viewing content. It seems like every time I hear about scams it originates from 3 locales. You mentioned 2 I think.
I think RUclips should show the creators where exactly the invalid traffic is coming from in the RUclips studio to be transparent....
I'm happy for you and thanks for the useful info. I think my invalid traffic problem is similar but I need to do a different solution. I have a video with over 2 million views that has continuing traffic and generates more than $200 a month in ad revenue (before the invalid traffic issue it was around $500 a month). It has majority traffic from English speaking countries like the US and Canada, but significant traffic also from the Philippines and India plus also Malaysia, Pakistan, etc. Like you, I think it is these developing countries that are the source of the problem. But I cant just delete a video that makes $200 a month even with the invalid traffic issue. I have other videos with less traffic and making less money each month but also still earning good money. I am going on vacation shortly, but after I return I am going to go to RUclips and see if I cant just block 4 or 5 of these developing nation traffic sources. My RPM from the English speaking countries I think is fine but I suspect that the RPM for the developing nations is very low. I'm hoping that if I can block them, it will resolve my problem.
I'm currently dealing with the same issue, and I swear I was crying, almost having a complete breakdown because Adsense is my only income these days. I'm still trying to figure it out, but I do find it sad how RUclips is no help with this issue, especially for us small creators. Thank you so much for this video! Oh and have you seen a change since you unlisted your those particular videos?
You are not alone .....same issue on my main channel
I am also facing this same issue RUclips it's affected my channel since January i have lost more than 2000$
Has it been resolved?
@@uc8165 yes currently it's fixed its has affected my channel with 2 months
107k subs and you call yourself a small creator? wow... then even 1.2million subs guys will say they are still small creators. Okay.
Many many RUclipsrs got hit with the invalid traffic bug all at the same time. The invalid traffic bug for someone else that I follow started August 31st and ended on September 27th. They didn't do anything on their end. RUclips simply restored everything back to normal. So you're probably fine to republish the videos that you had unlisted.
It’s been 8 days for me with no revenue did it take a month for them to
Its been 2 months for me and still not back...i have turned off monetization and private my videos is that advisable?
How do I know when invalid traffic is resolve on my channel?
Same- it hit me from August-September then went back up. Then hit in December. Then went back up. Now since March it’s plummeted again except for occasional bounces of 1-2 days.
I just got hit today with this. I've known about this for months and hoped I wouldn't be. I took it a step further and deleted any suspicious ones. I found one where Gmail was 83% of my views on 47k views. I've been going out this for hours now. Also removing the embedding on every single video.
It worked! Thank you for this insight. Amazing channel, keep it up 🙂🙏🏽
Watching a number of videos on this subject. One common factor I noticed was the traffic that came from the Philippians. I wonder if there was a malicious program set out from the Philippians that affected various creator sites? Just wondering. I think you’re idea of deleting those two videos to stop traffic was a good one. I hope that resolution continues to work for you. I also hope other creators are able to find your channel to share in your insights. I’m a new creator myself and also had a big spike in views in August, however after checking all the things you mentioned I think I’m in the clear. Most of my viewers came from the U.S. But, after listening to your points I too will keep an eye on things.
I have also just had a whole lot fom the Phillipines more than America. Thanks I will check this out.
What about popular videos that this is happening too. Enlisting destroys the algorithm
But honestly , if your mom is watching your video and or videos and clicking on ADS, who knows what she's gonna buy later or learn from the AD later. I truly think RUclips should clarify themselves well and work with Partners as they called them Partners. At the end of the day, RUclips is a selling point and ads are placed for people to watch including family and friends. I strongly suggest RUclips should add more human face to their operations and pinpoint specific videos rather than generalizing issues. Such things discourages creators. On the other hand, RUclips also gives creators the option to tick if they want their videos to be embedded on websites and others . IT'S ON WHEN UPLOADING VIDEOS. So if a creator opts for that and a website picks your video and embeds it in their site as a reference, is that also a crime from the creator? It's your own video being used as a reference. Because it's legit from the RUclips studio to allow that or disallowed. That's why I am saying RUclips should come out clearly to clarify their point when they say "invalid traffic". My 2 cents.
Thank you, this is the best and most practical video with evidence of a result I’ve seen on this topic.
Great tips! But in my case, I have more than 600 videos on my channel. What seems to work for me is that I turned off the EMBED option on all my RUclips videos. My thought was that if someone is doing this, they are not sending fake traffic directly to the RUclips platform but instead to websites with embedded content so they can monetize through Adsense. I've already seen this kind of tool.
Although this is helpful, there is no reason why you should have to unlist your videos for traffic you are not responsible for. I'm going through the same thing right now and it's infuriating that it is the creator's problem to somehow control traffic from invalid sources. I'm one person sitting on my computer with no possible means of control ... RUclips is the video host with billions of dollars and thousands of employees... perhaps if they can detect invalid traffic then they can also determine the problem and clearly see that it is not the creator driving this nonsense traffic. They can remove that traffic and allow the creator to keep their hard earned revenue without punishment. For them it's just easier to lay the blame on the creator and then continue to roll ads and they keep all of the revenue.
Great video and good investing.
I "just" saw my revenue starting to climb again - but I am concerned about a "round 2" happening.
I went into my channel and started turning off monetization on many videos - ones that weren't seeing a lot of traffic.
One thing I am also doing is turning off all monetization on any sponsored videos. I have some suspicions that Sponsors are promoting the videos that they sponsor and that means they are potentially driving traffic to the videos that is then flagged (so it's ads on ads?) At any rate, we'll see what happens over the next month. It's only been 5 days of "better" revenue for me. So hopefully that sticks.
Any update ? Has your revenue dipped again or did it stay consistent?
@@SimpleAndBiblical So far - so good. It seems about "normal" - although just slightly below where it was before the crash.
@LearningandTechnology Eventually it happens again, been dealing with this for more than a year now
@@CobraJayOfficial dang. I figured as much. I’m just waiting for the next hit on my channel.
This is wild, the video I watched before this had the same issue with the Philippines… there’s definitely something going on over there.
I do not have any traffic from there tho.
I investigated my analytics heavy and I found nothing. I literally just turned on monetization last week.. this is unbelievable. Thank you for making this video! It was really good and insightful.
Wow!!! Very interesting thank you for sharing!! This helps
I am having same issue, with my 2 videos , i have unlisted them and also demonitized , so how many days it will take to get to normal RPM ??
Hello . I received an invalid restriction notice for my channel, $700 has been deducted from my earnings. please guide me. . I am from Iran, I did not understand what you said
Ours was hit,got it back for 3 weeks in November, but now we are hit again, it's deliberate
yeah i’ve noticed certain viewers like to post my videos on their website i wish there was a way to block it from happening but anyway great video 👍🏾
The invalid traffic will most likely be on a video with an abnormal retention graph. The video will have a lot of views but very low likes and no comments. Also I had an editor and used to have them upload videos from overseas. I stopped doing it. Have your editors use google drive. Upload videos only from your own trusted IP address. Change the Gmail address on your channel to one that’s not listed publicly. These phishing people will send you offers to edit your videos or improve SEO or your thumbnails. Be very cautious.
This doesn't work and sounds like more of a coincidence. However I'm happy yours got fixed.
I'm so happy for you! That is some insane detective work that you had to do. I hope the issue won't happen again for you, and thanks for so transparently sharing your thought process and solution!
I'm so happy that you got your revenue back!!! I've had a channel for awhile but have just been using it for my clients. However, I'm about to switch focus and will be uploading my first video soon for a new audience with the goal of monetization. This invalid traffic issue has caused me great concern regarding any possible reliable future as a RUclips content creator. I've watched many videos on this subject, and you are THE ONLY person who actually had *Valid* information to share. Thank you for sharing :) I hope those who have been affected will find this info and hopefully it'll be applicable for their resolution.
Interesting. Sorin from Electronics Repair School channel said he correlated the Invalid Traffic on his channel with people using adblockers while viewing his content. He asked people to stop using adblockers for his channel and the problem went away. What might be happening on your channel is that the people from India and Philippines might be using adblockers, that might explain why the RPM is low but the views are high. RUclips has been cracking down on the use of Adblockers and as a result their algorithm is getting more aggressive with detecting "invalid traffic". Thanks for making this video.
But why is that being counted as invalid traffic? I still don't get what the issue is. If they watch and use adblockers, they wont see any ads to click.
@@siriusjones956 RUclips loses money when people use adblockers and don't watch ads. RUclips has made it very clear that they don't want people using adblockers. This is how they detect adblockers in the algorithm. They can call it whatever they want, but they want to call it invalid traffic.
@@ChavezDIY My comment was there was no ad to click if the user has adblock on. So them (YT)declining pay due to invalid ad clicks did not make sense. Maybe you are saying some are still seeing ads.
@@siriusjones956 There is no such thing as "invalid ad clicks". RUclips identifies the use of an ad blocker as invalid traffic. You're cheating the system and RUclips doesn't like it. You either have to watch ads or pay for RUclips Premium. You can't watch for free and not watch any ads.
@@siriusjones956The ads are still be served (applied to the video) but the adblocker stops them being displayed to the watcher. So advertisers would pay for a certain number of impressions but they were blocked, so they'd be entitled to a refund for the impressions not shown.
How did you contact RUclips? I have been facing the same challenges for 7 months. I can't reach anyone from google to help
Thank you for sharing!! I will try it out on my channel
You're here Darcy 😊, have you tried it out?
I really wish we have control of who sees our video because if you spent thousands of dollars to produce a video you will feel reluctant to unlist just video from your channel. One of my channel that got affected have over 1k videos in it, how would I fix this kind of issue on the channel where I also believe the video is not a location base content, these 2 videos you unlisted are not a location base video and anyone can decide to watch it from anywhere. I believe if those videos brings in the most revenue, you won't unlist them even though the top country is India, just saying. I will use the method on my channel too, I hope it'd work for me. Many thanks 👍
I checked last night i got hit with invalid traffic it crazy i lost alot of money $$$$
Good video! However I think it may have just been a coincidence in this case... here's why:
I noticed the same pattern on a couple of my older videos as you have just pointed out, and unlisted them. (this was about 4 weeks ago, a few weeks into my own Invalid Traffic issue). Nothing happened. Then, weeks later, on the same date you saw your revenue start to rise again, so did mine. But I hadn't done anything for weeks to try and fix it.
There seems to be a pattern with this whole invalid traffic issue, where by a lot of creators seems to be affected on the same date, and have their channel recover at a similar time frame. I personally think that either YT are dealing with it in 'batches' of creators at a time, which explains why there seems to be clusters of users that share often the exact same time frame as others, when it comes to the problem either starting, or recovering.
Glad it has turned around for you! :
Interesting! I guess... we will never find out 💀
It’s been 8 days for me with 0 revenue it’s stoped all together how long did yours stop
I just looked and was hit almost the same dates as well. I've now been hit FOUR times with invalid traffic. So frustrating!!
@@AQUA-MAXZ1did it get resolved?
@@uc8165 yeah back to normal now
Currently suffering from invalid traffic
Did it ever resolve for you? I am in the same boat 😞
@@JMGENTERPRISES nope same thing. In fact it got worse and stayed the same
oh man... I have 600+ videos on my channel. :(
Any updates? Has your channel had any issues since then?
Also thank you for making this video and speaking out! I’ve been hit by the same issue and it’s super frustrating.
I was actually hit with the bug again about a month ago, but used the same technique here again and it was restored a few days later.
Thank you for sharing the video. But one question: The unlisted videos will be remain unlisted or you are going to publish them again? My channel has the issue but with lots of efforts so far nothing changed :(
I plan to keep them unlisted. They were older videos that had very very low RPM anyways, so I think i'd do better if I just filmed them to my current quality standards.
Had same Issue just recently and the main problem is I am from the Philippines. What is happening to the world????
Thank you. It was a very important talk. Thank you for the clarity. I am currently in the same problem, but my channel is very small. I will try the solution you provided. Thank you and I wish you success 🌹🌹
Did it work for you?
I watch another content creator who had similar problem as we're all facing now, and he said too views from the Philippines was what caused the issue
thank you. i tried this and worked ✨✨✨✨🙏🙏
If they gas light you and tell you to fix your own invalid traffic even though they are still running adds and making money, just simply shut down all your videos so they can not make money while stealing your commission. If enough creators do this, you tube will have no choice but to stop stealing your hard earned commissions.
i have same issue with invalid traffic. Last time when i’m new on youtube, i watch my own video. I thought that is ok. Then after i know from youtube representative that is not allowed. Then i stop watching myself. But the thing now is : youtube is kind of disable the ads display on all my video 😅 do you know this will stay for how long? Because every time when i chat with RUclips representative, they recommend me just to wait until there is no invalid traffic. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Uncle Lino
thank you very much
good video @madeonsundays and great detective work in identifying a possible source of the invalid traffic. My channel also has 1 video with a huge spike in views from Phillippines and my ban lasted 3 - 4 months and then went back to normal
unlist video, how can others see your video? How can you make money if you can't see the video?
Thank you. This was very helpful
I had this issue granted im a smaller channel still an just recently got monetized, but had invalid traffic an i didn't know where it was coming from but i tried this we'll see if my revenue is fixed youtube told me it takes up to 7 days for them to lift the flag.
I’ve noticed a glitch on many of small RUclips channels that I’m subscribed to one thing I noticed is that there’s many of channels have 141k likes but if you look at their views it is not that many and their subscribers are really low as well I don’t know what’s going on but that’s weird to me I kind of figured that it was fraudulent activities because these channels are having a really hard time growing and I know A-I plays a role in that as well which is why I don’t buy into buying likes and views.
Thank you, for this very helpful I have the same problem but I also have over 3,500 videos.
So not your fault. The ads they put on your video is attracting a lot of views, therefore it’s their responsibility why you are getting traffic.
Why do outside sites want to do this???
Good video but I think you missed the point: it’s not the rpm or the country where the traffic come from to define as a red flag. Simply what you treated in the video is a topic that is searched in emergent countries like India and Philippines and for this reason they have a low rpm. And this is absolutely not a red flag.
About the weird website yes, I can agree with you and maybe was stopping the traffic from that websites that has helped you to recover your revenue.
Thank you for sharing the video! Great info.
Good job showing people how to try and fix this mess you tube put on creators. People like myself who were interested in becoming creators are now changing our mind starting a channel if you tube is just going to steal all our revenue anyway. Why bother. Why put in all that work. Like it would kill you tube to show creators how to fix this the way you just did. Good job helping others. You are a wonderful person.
That is great news you can't trust anything especially online congratulations...
so i watch someone elses channel to much i can destroy them? like i wanted to, wtf is that xD
How do I know when invalid traffic is resolve on my channel?
Do they provide a way to restrict traffic to US. Maybe this way you would not have to monitor all your video traffic sources...
You fix them by unlisting those videos?
It’s been 8 days with no revenue for me messaged RUclips they say I just have to wait but for how long
so sorry to hear that! That's sucks. Mine stopped for about a month
Thanks it’s so annoying
Did You Received Your Old Payments
Hey @nicknimnin does turn on this protect my channel from invalid traffic
If you understand this i speak tagalog Philippine language, mas masakit ang nangyari sa youtube channel ko.
I watch a bunch of channels from guys who retired to the Philippines and live there now, and weirdly enough not a single one of them has reported this bug.
This doesn’t matter. It’s not where you are located but where your traffic come from that matters.
hi, so how much are making money now from ads? :)
Are you pinay ? Can u understand tagalog languages thank you
Why is your rpm so high?
Did you check the videos that you unlisted, get back to their normal revenue?
It's unlisted...so there's no traffic going to those videos anymore
I’m real lol
Great information! 👍
can you cut the yapping please
So happy to hear you fixed this issue - it's wild that you had to go through all of this investigation yourself and that YT wasn't able to support with this. Would you mind sharing which camera you use? I love the crystal clear and crisp look! 🤎
Thank you ! I film with the Sony ZV-E10
