I laughed so hard at the "footprint" segment.
Great video, I had a blast helping you guys and learning how to pour a slab, diy style.
Thanks for sharing, and as always, keep building 👍

Well done y'all. That's back breaking stuff right there. I've mixed and poured more of my fair share of concrete in my youth. That mud mixer has me intrigued.
If you could get the ingredients-sand, stone and Portland cement-rather than premixed bags you'll save $$...

We use the "Rule of Three" for homestead projects. Whatever you plan to do, give it triple the time and resources you estimate to accomplish it.

I believe that rule to be oh so true!
We bought 4 pallets of concrete for 6 pads. 6 pads = 6 pallets, lol

I had to comment half way through. I would have put the concrete machine up on a platform to raise the trough, making it easier to access the concrete. I love your builds. I hope your dome house has been successful for you.

You could have stacked a couple 2x4 blocks on either side of the pour and put a plank on top of the blocks to act as a bridge, so you can finish the center.

If you're lucky, it's a coati or maybe a ringtail that made that print.
If you're unlucky, it's the back foot of a badger.
I haven't heard of badgers in Cochise in ages.

what is your elevation? and relative humidity? I would consider using a retardent if its cold / dry, or have shifts of people misting it every 2 hrs ? or so... looks gr8, I don't buy that this is ur second interaction with concrete. Is it portland hi psi and such? I got 9 acres in Douglas and Y'all can come pour mine, i am planning to go underground 8' and do a cement dome 2' above ground. ChubraKabra footpints oh NO... lol

You are absolutely correct! The reveal video is actually 3 weeks after we did the pour. I was out there spraying it every hour for 2 weeks!

Ok, where to start…3”, that isn’t gonna handle and vehicle parked on it if that was what you had any idea of storing under here. Why vapor barrier under the cement, unless your worried about moisture coming up from under this, there is no reason to do that. That vapor barrier is what made that concrete so hard to cure, the moisture has nowhere to go other than to evaporate, it can’t drain out the bottom like most pours. So you have 8 separate cement blocks out there with nothing joining them or keeping them as one level unit. It’s ok to pour blocks sections like that, but lay rebar, probably four strips would do it about 2 foot apart, 3 feet into the one block and out into the next one to pour…cut holes in your form boards to allow this, will join all the blocked sections and make one unit thats several times as strong as single units like you poured. Also, the mesh you put in there, it’s basically worthless, you laid it on the bottom and poured, its still laying on the gravel under your cement with three inches of cement over it…as you pour with mesh like that, doesn’t matter the diameter, pull the mesh up about half away in the cement as you go along to make sure the mesh actually is adding its strength to the cement…there are multiple apps or online sources that will give you how many bags of mix needed for a certain specific area…take that number and usually ad about 10% or a little more to make sure you don’t end up like you did running short and having to stop mid project….just some ideas for future pours, if you can though, way cheaper and faster if you can get cement delivered….

It's just a utility building, no cars will go in here or we would have done rebar and at least 4" of slab. We pulled the mesh up with rake as we went too, probably can't see it in the time lapse but it's definitely not at the bottom of the aggregate. We only used the vapor barrier because we are enclosing the building and it will be fully spray foamed, and during monsoon season we would like to not ever worry about moisture coming up through the floor, plus the barrier was given to us for free, so why not use it. I also read (we could be wrong) that concrete doesn't actually dry, and it's better to trap the moisture because it's chemical curing, and if you can slow that process down, the concrete will be so much harder. The bags we used said they were 4000psi and minimum of 2" so we figured it would be fine for foot traffic. Thanks for the advice on our next one, were new at this and still trying to learn from the experience

You did not tie any of the slabs together. So you poured a bunch of slabs next to each other. Interesting
