I just watched this movie again after some 25yrs and come to realise how stunning Claire Forlani is and the emotions thru her eyes just blew me away as an older person now and after watching so many movies over the past 25yrs and coming back to re-visit "Joe Black" makes you appreciate it on another level - brilliant
she was great. could watch her all day. and the movie was actually pretty good. and had one of the best lines ever when joe black claims to be an IRS agent. death and taxes. indeed.

This is absolutely one of my favorite works of cinema, if for no other reason than that every actor reaches the apogee of their art. When I think fondly of any of them, it is this movie that comes to mind.

Excellent casting. Brad and Claire were both equally matched in terms of physical attractiveness and the way they played into the awkward chemistry of attraction. Anthony Hopkins is always brilliant!

Death is just an Angel of transition. I loved the 80's and 90's, seeing the world that it is today and it's decline i can't wait to see Death. Gen Xers held it down for the future kids who doesn't have a clue. They don't believe things can be done. Im through trying to show yhem what they think is impossible, they don't want to even try. Now Ai will have to babysit them.

I thought this movie was great. I liked everything about it. I saw a few bad reviews and I'm wondering why? Not enough car crashes? Lack of loud offensive "music"? No fights?
Tim Johnson - I agree- not enough car crashes, etc! And this scene here is a good example- loooong shots of silence- just reactions. They’re generally very well acted, but with no verbiage, and I think many people don’t have patience for that any more - this is an “mtv society” where people want just fast- moving flashes of things! (- Although even I, who loves a good long movie, thought that a few of the pauses were a bit TOO long, and could’ve been cut by a few seconds and still captured the emotion well). I can also see where they may not have liked Brad Pitts portrayal of death - he was absolutely perfect as the young charming man coming to town, but acted the part of death strangely at times. I don’t know if those choices were made by Brad or by the director. But the critics might’ve been reacting to that. … Still, All of the other acting was so excellent that I can enjoy this movie over and over, and just love it!!
