Microscopy is one of my hobbies I stop and start constantly. Usually because I had to pack stuff away. And as you know when it's packed away it's not used. We'll I've moved house and now have space to leave it out constantly now and this has given me the motivation.

Hi microbe hunter, I have a question. I use an introductory microscope which can achieve maximum magnification of 320x, If i use a 30x eyepiece with my 20x objective (which is the highest objective I have) the total magnification will be 600x and if I use 25x eyepiece with my 20x objective the total magnification will be 500x. My microscope is telmu XD-1606 inverse microscope, can you please tell me which eyepiece would be compatible with my 20x objective. I need atleast 400x magnification, Thanks in advance btw love your videos

Have you ever used the bearmann funnel technique with moss to find tardigrades ?

Very useful video Oliver! I'm wondering if you have any advice regarding what water to use for tardigrades and other microorganisms? The tap water in my area is chlorinated, so would using a de-chlorinating agent intended for fish tanks work? I work in a lab so I also have access to de-ionized water, would that be good too? And would collected rain water also be an option? Many thanks!

      1. let the chlorinated water stand open for several days to allow the chlorine to escape 2. use bottled drinking water (no CO2) 3 do not use deionized water (osmotic problem. as no minerals) 4. rain water is OK as well

@MH- question regarding the recent saturday livestream please, did you observe what happened with the microorganisms inside the larger one, the one showing 1:05 minutes into the episode? 😀

I asked Oliver to observe it one more time but with darkfield, it was amazing to watch.
