  • A visit to Kings Island this past summer got real interesting real quick when I noticed that Diamondback's splashdown was half-empty. Being the thoosie nerd I am, I decided to hyperanalyze this, and how it affects the ride's operation and trim brakes. Enjoy!

Good video. I believe the splashdown also acts as a set of trim brakes essentially, so it would make sense to slow the train down at the mcbr.

Yup, the splashdown does slow the train down heading into the final brake run. Without the water being high enough to do that, my theory is that the computer used the block brake to try to compensate so trains wouldn't overspeed into the brake run.
