honestly even 545 is ridiculously inferior to 556 atm. worse recoil even running it loud, terrible accuracy at range, lower fire rate and seemingly worse damage for its armor pen too,, really only the snipers seem useful outside of m4 versions currently.

Isn't the only reason you'd ever run 7.62 or 5.45 as a contractor outside of US turf because of the sheer ammo availability in combat? Thanks for this. I wasn't sure if they went this far with the realism and if ammo choices were actually consequential. I am glad they did. Game is well done so far and a blast to play.
Frankly Shotguns are awesome from medium to short ranges on lighly armored targets, the only problem is how slow they reload. Just shooting the general location of the head is enough for a headshot of chest damage as the body armor usually does not protect the neck.
I've used HP in all the areas at his point and it has worked really well for me. Once I unlock AP I'll definitely use it but the HP works great if i can hit them in the chin basically.
Couple of things to mention here. Ballastics gel does not simulate what happens in the human body, it is a standard test to measure effectiveness of a given round. That being said, holopoint round should not only have a bigger "hit box", but also cause more tissue damage (think organ damage etc.) and more severe bleeding. Something else that is annoying is that the game does not simulate the central nervous system well. Most shots, or even peripheral damage caused to the spine or neck will put you out of the fight most of the time.
Only way to really make HP ammo and shotguns viable over high pen ammo is to have bleeding be way more severe and I mean to the point were if I get a severe bleed I immediately need to break contact and put a tourniquet on or I will die in less than a minute. To go along with that they need to have it so you can be bleeding from multiple wounds that each require their own treatment instead of the way it is now were I can have a severe bleed from wounds in each limb but a single tourniquet will treat them all at once. Another thing that will help especially with shotgun slugs is if they can increase the damage from kinetic energy transfer. So basically severe bruises, bruised lungs, and maybe in the future cracked or broken ribs from the impact of a slug smacking your armor. It would be heavily mitigated by high lvl plates but plates also shouldnt be able to take a lot of rounds and still provide adequate protection. In the Marines we were always told that if two rounds hit our plates then they were basically worthless and while different plates can withstand different punishment it seems every plate in grey zone can take a mag and still be able to stop more.
“This is based on how firearms should work in real life” …. (Unloads 3 ak mags into an unarmored scav from 5 feet away…. Scav turns around and 1shots me) fml
I do have a question when it comes to M855 AP vs M193 556 though. They have the same dispersion value as displayed in their description. From my understanding, dispersion of a round describes their likelihood/characteristic of expansion, correct? Currently, it’s stated that they both have the same dispersion value of -2%, leading me to believe they have the same pen value, only M193 has higher muzzle velocity. Is there a description error on M855 or am I reading into this incorrectly?
How I understand is that dispersion has to do with accuracy. To mitigate, you can get a barely woth tighter MOA. I believe this is how it was clarified on discord.
@@CrashGame dispersion is what the bullet does to flesh.. the mushroom/spread. Low dispersion is good against armor (fmj) while high does good flesh dmg with no pen
The dispersion is just essentially how “accurate” the bullet will be, but at the look of it, the MOA of the un is actually accurate. Me n my friend tested the 14.5,16,20. Inch barrel 5.56 n we can say to say the 20 is far far more accurate than the 14.5 but the 16 is a good middle ground, just a lil long for me. Entirely speculation, but in a squad based mil-sim type came don't you think that your shotgunner in squad would fill more of a "breacher/demo" type roll? I can't help but notice this option to kick doors that isn't entirely effective on a locked door as I'd think it might be, BUT..... I do see potential here. Additionally as a shooter and gun nerd I had higher hopes for controlled expansion rounds like hollow point to show more benefit on soft tissue and limb hits. Energy transfer in an expanding round tends to bruise, and turn large areas of soft tissue and muscle to mush at the same time as causing heavy bleeding and potentially breaking bones. Therefore. Depending on whether the devs thought about it this far, an accurately placed shot to an armpit, head, or upper leg/pelvis could do more in the future. Hard to say. Pardon my rabbit hole. Thanks Crash. Started watching you when you started posting GZW content. Been really enjoying this game thus far.
To elaborate the contrast; penetrating rounds light fmj's and armor piercing stuff would tend to poke holes in soft tissue and miss things like bones and such more often creating wounds that can be easier to treat if not impacting a vital organ.
Dude the HBT 556x45 is like, my favorite so far. Had a buddy give me some M995 and it just flat out did far less damage.. The HBT drops people left and right regardless of armor.

I'm pretty sure 00 buck would create a decently sized wound channel through a noggin. Not sure where the devs be getting there numbers on shotguns. Very unfun to use right now.
On a side note, I wish they made it easier to use a mixed load on shotguns. Right now I have my shotguns in my locker as [slug, slug, slug, buckshot, buckshot] (just thinking about closing range of engagement) and [buckshot, buckshot, slug, buckshot, slug], (thinking about breaking and/or CQC) but there is no way I'd be able to set that up in combat. It would be nice to have a part were you right click on your shot gun or tube and you can choose loading order instead of just having to load the next thing in your inventory.
It's far more nuanced than that. It's like saying that blood is our real life HP, which is only a half-truth. Your character requires a set amount of blood before he gets debuffs, falls into a coma or dies, but it's not an HP bar because it's only part of the damage system. Bullets don't cause HP damage like in regular games, they cause wound cavities. Basically the bigger the cavity, the more damage is inflicted on the player. But the main damage isn't HP/blood, but damage of organs and arteries. If a bullet lands nearby the liver, it will destroy it. Your character will fall over dead even with max blood meter. Alternatively a bullet may not damage any organ, but it can cause bleeding. That's when the blood system can potentially result in player death if the bleeding isn't treated. But 80% of fatalities are to vital organs being damaged.
