We're meant to get 3 rings on both sides. That's how is meant to be. Any idea how to do it?

I had that puzzle my entire childhood. I messed with it for 10 years until I accidentally broke it. I never did figure it out. I need to find another one now. Great tutorial. Thank you!!

I loved the one that I had as a kid in the '80s
The clacking noises it makes is satisfying, also my hamster is named clacky
I was given this as a Xmas present when it launched. Spent ages and ages fiddling and getting nowhere. Nearly broke it so many times. Then one day I managed to get the three rings joined - just by accident! Took me as long to unjoin them again!!! It just made me feel stupid...!
The sneaky part is that the instructions never show that the finished form is not a 2×4 shape. Many people would never consider trying to bend it into that L shape.

The rings don't line up very well when you finish the process. I'm not sure that twist technique was ever an intended part of the solution. The way I was taught to solve it is just as quick, but doesn't require any weird twists.
One of the ring didnt line up correctly while i saw others solved it without twisting and the rings lined up perfectly
@@ST-lc8kn they don't line up because it's a cheap knock off. there are no twists and turns you could do to it to make this misprint line up

it was '86 or '87 I played mine till the strings worn out and broke. Great time to be a kid with all the awesome toys we had back then.

Funny, I've learnt it without that first twist move, but a more fishline friendlier way :)
Me too.. I don't think twisting it is part of the official solution.
I never twisted it like that, from memory I used to fold it in half and slid up then a couple of similar moves then done
damn it, ive had this for 30 years, and did not know that you were supposed (or able to ) twist it!

Yeah, I don't think twisting it is the proper way to do it. (The way I was taught doesn't involve any twisting.)

3:33 - shouldn't the rings be linked? These are still separate and a bit broken-looking (not all the curves line up!).

Nextdoor neighbor showed me how to do this when I was 9 yrs old in 1989. I watched this vid with a critical eye and he did exactly how I remember it

How do u get these ideas
Don't use this method if you're using your old, rare, expensive one. Only do it to a cheap knock off as doing it this way will stretch the strings over time. In the instructions for my original 1987 one it gives warnings about this...
please make a vedio for last layer with list of algorithm formula used and tell us all the formulas my images and who to apply it....thank u

How do I loosen my strings?
after the twist i could not move them pieces up, and they were not together.

I dug my old one that I got as a kid out of a bag of junk, unfortunately the strings were breaking and it was old and creaky. I got one like that - Lingao Toys - and it's nice to have one that is not old and creaky and that I fear will fall apart on me.

The future VR rooms will have the Rubix magic as a VR door lock. And you will be able to access that room! I should build rooms in VR with puzzel locks for people to visit and if they solve it leave a gift behind. Lol

You get your magic and start messing around with it. Once you got it in the 2 by 4 position, you could roll it over or do the twisting motion. You will eventually get it into 3 rings.

I did it different to this and I didn't need to flip it over. Didn't need to do your initial twist either.
