@@thedepartmentofredundancyd5160 I hope she does too. The had a blown head gasket and was 2/3 torn down including the whole front clip when we picked her up.
What Eric didn't show was the rest of the diagnostic on it running rough and the timing not retarding when warm which caused her to stall unless you two footed it. Apparently the person I took it to for the motor rebuild had flattened one plug to the plugs right to the electrode. I'm not sure how she ran the 25 miles I drove her up to his shop. Worked as a Emergency Management Agency (Civil Defense) volunteer; our director used some idiot whose wiring skills were so poor the local radio/equipment installers all nicknamed such poor work as a "Leo D. Special". Turned on my alley lights on one car; the right switch and the left switch were reversed! Went to do something else, and that didn't work at all. Gave up and signed out another vehicle. After many years of pulling trailers and dealing with wiring, my experience is that 90% of the time when you have weird light problems, it's a ground problem. Haven't done much with car wiring (other than trailer plugs, etc.) but it seems like the same thing. I wasn't the least bit surprised when Eric found the ground was wonky. What I figured it would be. First time in a long time I've guessed right - when it needs a scan tool to find it, I'm no good at all. Glad there are guys like Eric who can find that kind.

I own a 2010 Subaru impreza with about 67 preview owners of dubious mechanical background. I had a similar issue with all the brake light bulbs blown. Luckily, it was simply that the previous owner didn't replace them as they burned out, until non were left. When I did a brake job right after buying the car for pennies on the dollar, I discovered 3 different brands of pads, and 2 siezed calipers. A wheel bearing making all kinds of racket, and exhaust leak the size of Texas. Needless to say after a few weekends of fixing it up here and there, welding up the exhaust, she's ran great for 2 years. I paid less for it than you can buy a decent used 4 wheeler so I've been pretty happy with it. Thanks for the video. I have learned a lot from your content!

You'll enjoy this one Mr. O I had a 2000 Buick LeSabre come in with the big 3.8 customer said it run ruff. They said that a little mouse was under the hood eating wires. I thought okay we have a missing wire some place no big deal. I opened the hood for my diagnostic look, low and behold I found someone was already in there fixing the damage. I found that all the injector wires had been cut back and respliced. They used wire nuts that a home electrician would use.
Long story short I figured out which wire went where. Customer picked it up and they were pretty sheepish to tell me their grandson was going to mechanic school and this was his project.

The white wire to that one bulb is used in England and Australia where rear fog lights are used. Instead of having separate wire harnesses per country Subaru and other manufacturers use the same type of lighting but have it disconnected without having the extra switch and wiring connected in countries where rear fogs are illegal.
I discovered this on a 2001 through 2006 Hyundai Elantra GT hatchback. Center lights here in the USA only use the dimmer light where in England and Australia the brighter filament is used as the rear fog light

I've fixed/maintained quite a bit on it otherwise, but it still ended up as a good purchase overall. Subaru's aren't the most reliable cars, but better than many i've had for sure. It's a classic. Goes back to the beginning of tail lights. The clue used to be the front park lights coming on when you stepped on the brakes. When integrated signal lights came in it was easier for the driver to notice as the dash board signal indicator also lit with brakes on.

I am now more satisfied that I did not install the rear backup camera with my aftermarket Boss radio and I now am happier with no regrets.
As conformed by the guru SMA, the improper installation actually put the driver in risk by causing problems with the brake lights and etc....
I did not even try installing the backup camera. I suspected it was a lot of work running and hiding the dedicated camera wire from the radio to the backup camera and then hooking it up safely to the power from the brake lights.
    * The Boss radio has a lot of other goodies over the stock radio and the Boss is a great value.
