God knows I remember this song! In 1992, Billy field tested this lovely piece on a few of us who watched him develop his style in the bars and dives on Long Island. He wrote this for daughter Alexa. One of his most heartfelt pieces. Yes, drew a tear then as now hearing this touching rendition. Just full of love.
I’m a huge fan of your reactions because you’re a true pro. I’m going to see them live and I’m so stoked. My girlfrfriend got me tickets for Xmas and when I opened the envelope I cried. Should point out that though elated I didn’t cry when I opened the Bose PA she bought me lol.
It’s absolute perfection ⭐️ The way they breathe together, shape their sounds together, layer their parts so the ‘important ones’ come out (there surely must be a better term to describe that ;) - it’s all pure comfort and warmth, like being held by a mother’s embrace… No wonder monk’s choirs of different denominations have practiced the art of choir singing as a way of ‘loosing the ego’ and becoming one with things around them. Man, this was beautiful ⭐️
Great choice, Richard! I almost submitted this one myself awhile back as I love Billy Joel (and this is my second favorite of his songs - the top spot going to New York State of Mind). I am eventually going to send in two Voces8 requests: Elgar - Lux Aeternae and Rheinberger - Kyrie, unless you want to claim either or both of those. They are MUST-LISTENS for Jeff and all of his fans.
@StrateleStudios I shall tell you the back story to this song sometime. Billy Joel, Christie Brinkley, and bad judgments but still trying to survive. Got to see it very up close.
I happened across the video and then wondered if you had seen it since you've reviewed so many of their vidoes and since I have requested the same song from a different acapella group. I sang in choirs when I was much younger but certainly nothing this good. Part of me wonders what this would sound like with a backing orchestra but then I wonder if it wouldn't just ruin it.
That is an astronomically beautiful collection of talent and passionately gifted voices
Thanks, Jeff. A sublime performance.
Thank you, Jeff and Richard for bring this treasure to all of us. This has made my week. Bravo good Sirs. Rb
Excellent selection Richard. The story behind this song is sad having witnessed it more than I ever imagined.

Watching this heavenly performance felt like I ascended to heaven! 👼🎶

Hahahaha! That’s hilarious. Thank you so much my friend!

Wonderful. Thank you!

This is what makes your soul pure. This is music. I have along list of these kinds of songs. If not for a reaction, for your fantastic soul. ❤️
I wonder what billy Joel would be thinking of this choral arrangement of his song. Molly's voice is great as well.

Such a story behind this song.
I'm Headed for bed, and no matter how often I've heard this , it is a perfect piece for the end of day.
YOU. GET. IT!

So heart pulling. God knows how many more tears would be shed if this interpretation incorporated more minor tonal shifts!
Great point! 👏👏👏

Oops didn't mean to go public with that info although it was published in People magazine and other venues
Totally awesome!

"Almost angels".
Jeff, how, when they are recording without any mics showing, are they able to focus on one person's voice? So seamlessly.
