This version is too slow- the song itself needs to pick up a little bit to work. Not bad voices/talent though.
This production tried really hard to turn the material into something it isn't, to conform with modern #woke values. Unfortunately, it just didn't work to turn the daughters' progressive challenges of tradition into a deliberate third-wave-feminist rebellion.
How did you get that from “this version is too slow?”
I think the slow song works for the first verse. Then it picks up with the fear and the closer it gets to Shabbos.
I think it is far better than the movie for a lot of reasons.
