- It's Thursday, which means a trip to Stanage Edge in the Peak District.
Since this is an after work trad climbing trip, we head to Stanage because it's only a short drive from Sheffield city centre.
In this video we climb: Tipper Direct E3 6a
Enjoy. Спорт
Nice to see the late Barry Chuckle enjoying the grit! To Me!
ha ha ha, love it
Wow that felt desperate. Can't wait to try it.
"Oh shit, can't put any gear in!"
*Rack full of cams and a huge horizontal break at head height*
LOL! The issue wasn't the lack of gear or suitable placements. The issue was that I was pumped out of my mind and that stance was not restful. When I was reading the route from the ground I'd already marked that break out as a place to stop and place gear but I hadn't accounted for how tired I would be or how strenuous the stance would be with my feet below the overlap. I could feel the panic rising as I considered the run-out to the last piece. With a calmer head I might have found a rest position, but tunnel vision can take over when you're at your limit. It's easy to get too focused on the first thing you see. I think in the end I managed to get a grip of myself and found a jam in the break for the left hand. This used different muscles and allowed me to place a cam, but I was too far gone to be able to shake out and rest.
Wow, really felt myself willing you on over that first overhang..almost saying 'come on' out loud!
Awesome Effort! This has been on my wishlist since I sent FB Direct, havent managed to try it yet bc of the old lockdown. Thanks for helping me escape to the peaks in video form!
An accident witing to happen. More balls than ability.
That looks a tough 6a
Why have the videos stopped? These have kept me psyched when I can they out to climb.
Nice video. Placing the gopros on the route is a cool idea. Not sure the lav mic was needed though! Also, if you're gonna climb trad above your limit wear a freaking helmet!
Cheers dude. Trying to post a video every two weeks, tis hard work. For sure no helmet will bite us at some point.
I climbed this a few years back with a similar result, few falls, lost skin, ego well an truly bruised. Eventually I pull over the top absolutely whipped. Moments after a bloke sauntered up and casually soloed it effortlessly. I think ,but can't be sure, it was Ron fawcett
Good effort
Nice 👍
I have seen lots of people have a similar experience, tough climb!
Dean was in the video, but i did the second on the in-direct finish and still dogged it. Dean indeed did a great job, max effort.
Pedant alert! You did the indirect start (otherwise known as "The Tippler") not the indirect finish. 😀
True, beer and comments should not be mixed. :-)
Bit of training is in order I think.
Contacts the chaps at Lattice!
You should defo have had a tick mark on that good hold crimping nothing next to it FairPlay.
Love watching your videos but make him wear a helmet please 😂
Ha Ha Ha, I try and CGI one on Dean, in post processing is the best i can do.
@@EndlessClimbing Keep up the good work I am just getting into trad in the Peak District from the Manchester side. These videos keep me motivated!
the mics hurt my ears
This would have been called frigging back when I was climbing - shameful.
Right! Seriously, WTAF was he doing on that route? Disgraceful mess. Should stick to HVS; although I'm not even sure Avalanche Wall at Curbar wouldn't stop him dead in his tracks.
Great job. Nice to watch "rock Gods" work but this is where it is at for quite a few people. . . . scary!! Horrible music :(
Nice video, but please promote the use of helmets, it's a essential element of safety.
Don’t speak.
