While I've not seen this yet I thought I'd scroll the comments as I know these games journos cannot mention DmC without saying "b-b-but it was good and it was only the hair! This in-depth history of the DMC series was very thorough and well-made. It was nostalgic as heck! The narrator's overreliance on "RUclips Script Reading Voice" is my only complaint.

Having steamrolled the series again in prep for DMC5, I have to say that DmC has actually aged very well. The combat is arguably the best in the series, and being open to the idea of an AU (with crossover potential!) actually makes it a lot more palatable story wise. I still wouldn't go so far as to say the story is particularly good, even amidst DMC games, the characters on their own are decent and the combat is top notch.
People shits on DmC but to me it's one of the most enjoyable game I've played, helped me through my depression (and I've played both DMC 4 and 3 before)

DmC is a good game, and I am sad we will never see more of that iteration of the story. I’m saying that as a long time fan of the entire series. Dante becomes the Dante people were expecting by the end of the game. DMC5 still kicked ass, though. They kind of made Nero more like DmC Dante.

DmC was easily my favorite in the series. The smoothest and varying combat. The stages and bosses that were so unique and monumental. It's like when I played god of war for the first time. I had played others before then but this was my favorite. Also played on pc..may have had something to do with it
I loved DmC: Devil May Cry. The gameplay was fun and the ability to switch to demon/angel weapons on the fly were unique. The story was a little try-hard to be "modern" but that last boss fight with Vergil was amazing. I know many fans disagree, but I love the Devil May Cry series and I welcome DmC as part of the family of games.

Remember what the gaming press said, fanbase destroys franchise out of spite. What do they want us to do, accept any old slop that gets served up to us? I'm sure not even Resident Evil Operation Racoon City, also outsourced to some third rate western dev team, got the same outcry from the press when nobody liked it.
As an outsider looking in (I've never played a DMC game to fruition, but love watching the industry impact), the reboot to canonical series relationship is absolutely FASCINATING. Hardcore fans either hate DmC or show it respect for its combat, while non-hardcore fans absolutely love it. I had no idea it was this polarizing, but it's an entertaining tug-of-war for on-lookers.
It's so weird that 4 has more gameplay innovations than an actual reboot. The "it would've been fine if it just had a different name" could work for the Prince of Persia reboot (2nd Reboot I know) but not here.

Am I the only one who didn't equip original design of Dante in DmC Definitive edition. I personally used Neo Dante. The design of his face makes me sick and it does not work with the original Dante's costume. Neo Dante just makes more sense to me. It still look like Dante but more punk instead of teenager wearing a gross dirty coat over an even grosser and dirtier tank top.
You need to take pride in those transitions (changing the ps2 setup to a ps2 setup, slapping the hand reaching for pizza, etc) Those are pretty damn good

Though I do like the reboot, I couldn't count it as a true dmc game cause of the forced playstyle it made you play on certain enemies, I consider the definitive edition more dmc then the original 360 release. I did enjoy it, but I'm prefer the canon series over the reboot. It's still fun to visit after a little while

It's so sad people don't get DMC. It was really ahead of it's time in terms of writing for games. They actually got real writers to work on it and not just get the game designers with no experience to do it as was customery.

Just the potrayal of Donte and Virgil and the producer shitting on the original cast like calling Trish and Lady prostitutes with guns and claiming Kat was a much better character than them. If you wanna reboot something maybe try not to piss of the people that actually love the franchise you're trying to reboot.

Probably the most unpopular opinion but DMC is my favourite Devil May Cry... with Devil May Cry 3 a close second. Devil May Cry 4 would’ve been my favourite the recycling of bosses and levels held it back for me
for some reason, I can't buy that "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with light". I mean, it's supposed to be a dramatic moment, but I can't help laughing at it
It's so sad people don't get DMC. It was really ahead of it's time in terms of writing for games. They actually got real writers to work on it and not just get the game designers with no experience to do it as was customery.

Hated DmC on how they insulted the fans of the main game too (the white wig and the mirror scene)
That wasn't even the real insult. Just the potrayal of Donte and Virgil and the producer shitting on the original cast like calling Trish and Lady prostitutes with guns and claiming Kat was a much better character than them.
If you wanna reboot something maybe try not to piss of the people that actually love the franchise you're trying to reboot.

I actually really like DmC, not as much as the originals but i still find it a pretty fun action game like Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, and Metal Gear Rising
