This is a great interview! And a great testimony! I’ve had Susan‘s book for three or four years, and I I’m finally going to study it! But most of all I’m going to study the Book of Mormon again to find Christ even more fully in its pages.

Until 1921, all editions of Doctrine and Covenants had the “Lectures on Faith” printed in them.
The 5th Lecture teaches this about God, the Father: “The Father being a personage of spirit, glory and power... the Son, ... a personage of tabernacle. (1835 Edition, p. 53)
In truth, in LDS history, we find Joseph Smith changing his teachings on God’s nature with time, going from a more Monotheistic view to then embrace Polytheism, making the Father to be just a man like himself.
Genesis contradicts that, by stating that God created man and the spirit of man, Himself.
“Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”
    ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭

    • @elderinisrael
      @elderinisrael 2 года назад

It's called learning line upon line, precept upon precept Isaiah 28:10. This is how God teaches us. The Bible further teaches, "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able." 1 Cor 3:1-2.
There is nothing that contradicts the bible, our teaches simply contradict modern Christianity's teachings. The teaching within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in harmony with that of the bible, just not Christianity's teachings and yes, they are separate.

Sister Susan seems to be a sincere lady about what she believes and teaches on LDS theology. Nevertheless, her description of what she understood was being taught by the teacher in her Religion class is not according to biblical, historical Christianity. But having much more resemblance to Pantheism.
In relation to the Book of Mormon, one important fact that she ended up not addressing in her conclusions, is that it does not teach that God, the Father has a body. It actually teaches the opposite of that: it not only teaches that God is Spirit, but also that there are no other gods.
“Now Zeezrom said unto him, “Thou sayest there is a true and living God? And Amulek said, “Yea, there is a true and living God. Now, Zeezrom said, Is there more than one God? And he answered, No.” Alma 11:26-30
“And then Ammon said: Believest thou that there is a Great Spirit? And he said Yea, and Ammon said, This is God.”
    Alma 18:26-28

I’m afraid you are very confused in regards to those things you have mentioned. The chapters and scriptures you talk about do not say what you have stated. I think you picked out some scriptures without reading their entire chapters. Alma chapters 26-30 are all about the missionary work being done among the Lamanites. It speaks of the wars taking place at that time as well. Zeezrom never asked if there is more than one God. The conversation you quoted, it isn’t actually quoted. It’s from Korihor. Korihor said there was no God. And Alma the chief judge asked him if he did not believe in God or in God’s son Jesus Christ. There was no mention of God being a spirit only. The other scriptures you relayed are between two men that did not speak the same way. The Lamanite King said his fathers taught them that there was a Great Spirit. That in no way states that God the Father is a spirit being only. It is only in reference to a name that their forefathers gave God. Ammon explained that the Great Spirit was God. He never stated that God was only a spirit. He did state that He created all the heavens and the earth. And that He also created our spirits. This is also true in Genesis. There is nothing that says God is a spirit only. Joseph Smith did not say God was a spirit only. He saw two people with flesh. One standing on the right hand and the other announcing that this was His beloved son. There is no opposites in any of the scriptures or it’s teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Other things that I personally have thought about in my scripture reading, is that why would God the Father not be a resurrected being. He is perfect. And perfect means whole, that is it’s actual definition. God the Father cannot be whole unless he has a spirit and a body. He has also gained that knowledge, again a whole knowledge to be a God. The Savior would not have overcome death had he not also resurrected. Resurrection is a gift that all of God’s children receive. So why would God the Father not be resurrected as his children will all be? Also how could God the Father have the Holy Spirit impregnate Mary if he did not posses a body that would be needed to impart of himself to Mary to create a baby? Jesus would not have received his Father’s power to do all the miracles he did, to withstand what would kill any mortal, and to break the chains of death without being his flesh & blood son. We are all spirit children of God. So where our are powers to do those same miracles? God the Father also states that the Savior is his only begotten son. We are not begotten of God in the flesh as is Christ.
The statements regarding the Doctrine & Covenants and the first editions are also incorrect. The statements made by the Sister in the video are true. You can know that through the gift and power of the Holy Ghost. For whatever reason you have brought up these created inconsistencies I don’t know. I have my suspicions. I just hope you will take the time to read the Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, & The Pearl of Great Price as well as the Holy Bible. Study, ponder and pray. That is how anyone can gain a testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ and his teachings. The Book of Mormon is a testimony of the Savior and his gospel. Much of the Doctrine & Covenants is about the early Saints and shows how Jesus placed HIS gospel back on the earth. It does not contradict itself or the Bible. The Book of Mormon supports the Bible. If you want to know what we believe in more depth. May I suggest watching the Come Follow me series. We began with the New Testament, then the Book of Mormon and now the Doctrine & Covenants. You can go back to the beginning and learn what we know and believe. Book of Mormon Central, Don’t Miss This & CWIC Media are all wonderful channels to watch to learn from the Come Follow Me. A program the Lord began as a more home centered church. It’s like He knew we would not be able to attend church meetings in a church house in the very near future. 😉. Best of luck to you.

@@traczebabe The reference I gave in my comment is for Alma chapter 18, not chapter 26. And the verses are 26-28.
“And then Ammon said, “Believest thou that there is a Great Spirit? And he said, Yea. And Ammon said: This is God.”
Also, the statements I made concerning the D&C are correct. Until 1921, they contained the Lectures on Faith in their printing.
The 5th Lectures on Faith declared God, the Father to be a personage of spirit, but the Son a personage of tabernacle.
You can go to the church’s website and read about it:
“The extent of Joseph Smith’s involvement in the production of the lectures, if any, is unknown. Nevertheless, the inclusion of the lectures in the Doctrine and Covenants in 1835 strongly suggests that Joseph Smith approved of the content of the lectures.4
The publication of the Lectures on Faith in the Doctrine and Covenants elevated its status among Church members. In the early 20th century, however, Church leaders became increasingly concerned about some of the statements in the Lectures on Faith. For example, the fifth lecture speaks of the Father as a “personage of spirit,” which seems to contradict Joseph Smith’s teaching (expressed in 1843, several years after the lectures were given) that “the Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s” (D&C 130:22).5 Elder James E. Talmage, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles who led the committee that revised the 1921 Doctrine and Covenants, felt that it would be best to “avoid confusion and contention on this vital point of belief.”6 In addition, the lectures had not been accepted by the Church as anything other than theological lessons, Talmage’s committee argued. Based on these recommendations, the Lectures on Faith were dropped from the Doctrine and Covenants.”
