I watched this video not only to see the new Laney Lionheart pedal, but mostly to see Tom play guitar. He is an amazing guitarist and his legato is incredible.
I've had various great Laney products over the years and recently bought a 1999 LC30 II, which is possibly the best amp I've ever owned, so I'd say they've _always_ been killing it!
Thank you @tomquayleguitar. I purchased the laney lionheart loudpedal after watching this video, and it is even better than I thought it would be. The tone is exceptional, so much versatility. I play in a gigging band and like to get a variety of tones, from nice clean, to bluesier tones, rock and even full out heavy metal. You get everything from this. Sounds like a valve amp, and works fantastic with pedals. I put a TS9 in front, and delay in the loop. Sounds amazing.
OK - seriously impressed & and will find your recordings immediately. Thanks so much for demonstrating lots of clean channel stuff too since that’s what I mostly play
Thank you Tom! Been watching your videos since 2008, always great to just sit back and watch you play and learn from you. Congratulations on this beautiful amp!!
Just bought one. The one he used at the guitarguitar demo show lol sounds exactly like a really great valve amp. Made in the UK! So easy to use. Just plug in and play Phys it cleans up just like a valve amp. Very impressed. I played through it then had to go back and buy it. The only thing i would change is a separate control for reverb trail length and have the psu inside the pedal. Amazing clean: bouncy and full of life and really juicy dynamic overdrive.
Good on you, Tom & Laney ❤ I LOVE my asian-made Ironheart Loudpedal. It's my main amplifier. I can't say enough so I won't. Glad to see a Lionhearrt SS pedal with a complete pro feature set & made at home. It must be amazing, great vid - thanks!
Like the Friedman IR-X, Blackstar Amped 3 and DSM/Humboldt Simplifier (I have all 3) we have SO many amazing pedal size amps to choose from! I will be adding this as well..fantastic tones and congrats Tom/Laney for creating this!
@@jeeeeev That is a tough one! As a new version of the Simplifier has just come out it makes it harder to chose..I guess it depends on what tones you are going for..The Simplifier has more versatility in it's amp choices (especially the cleaner tones if that is important) but no cab sims/IR's can be loaded but with tweaking their is a lot of tonal variance with the mic/cab size switches..The IR-X is awesome in it's straight up Marshall vibe..the included cab IR's are great..it doesn't get totally clean but that's not what it's about..If you want chunk and more chunk with great note clarity then that's the winner..Once again just comes down to what amp tones/feature sets you are needing..I dig both for different things..hope this helps a little!
I’m deciding between the Laney pedal and the Blackstar Amped 3. I need good clean and AC/DC gain. Nothing heavy metal. Would love to hear what you think of the Laney now that you have it.
You've been a Laney evangelist for so long, this should have your logo or signature somewhere visible. The guitar is stunning also. Thanks for sharing with us!
So Sweet, the tonality is off the scale. I've been interested in adding a pedal that would provide me access such as this Laney. I'm going to get one. Tom, your playing is always soulful. I love it.❤
Really a fantastic amp pedal and very well think. With all we need, the aux in, the xlr, etc..I'm gonna buy this soon it's exactly what i was looking for. Thank you a lot 🙏👍😉
Putting IR's on this (only on the XLR direct out?), aux in and a headphone output, was a good idea. The midi implementation is very useful for those who use it, and a great addition for such a pedal amp! And still, it's just a no nonsense amp in a pedal format. I could really get behind this product, rather than doing modellers.
The clean at the beginning and then the tone of the boost remind me a lot of Montrose’s Music From Here album. Ronnie liked using solid state gear and I bet he’d be using this pedal if he were still with us.
I have already seen this review but I am rewatching just to listen Tom Quayle playing. The next rewatching will be guitar hands on to steal some licks 😇 🎸 🔥
Oh this seems a better choice than the ones that are more expensive.

These new loudpedals are amazing :) i loved the vh100r and the supergroup so much that i hope these find their way into this formfactor too someday but that is maybe just me
Cool pedal and great video. I wish the demos had a little more rhythm guitar/riffs in them since most people would use such gear with strums and chords 90% of the time. Most gear sounds similar when soloing rapid notes.
Great demo and very interesting pedal! Liking the new Ibanez as well! Question would it be able to use this pedal as follows. I am looking for a somehow affordable solution to play over monitors and the speaker at the same time. I do like to crank it up quite high while using IR’s with my monitors. Problem now is with my Suhr Reactive load that the speaker out is not attenuated and way too loud. Would this pedal be able to this? Similar like the Boss Tube expander can do?
I think you could plug into a can a beans and you would STILL sound amazing! I have never heard you not sound amazing! Thanks for your playing and inspiration. The Laney sounds fantastic as well.
Hey Tom! I’ve got a question (I bought your app solo) When you are improvising over changes, do you think in terms of intervallic functions, or do you think of actual chord names? I struggle with non diatonic chords because I relate everything back to the 1 chord. For example I don’t think lydian, I think IV of so when I see a VI7 chord it’s like .. my parent scale.. it’s …. it .. doesn’t have a root? Example is A7 in the key of C Thanks again for everything you do for this community!
Tom is possibly one of the UK's best guitarists that somehow always seems to fly just under the radar when some of his less talented contemporaries seem to get all the recognition..baffling...
He's well known as the "legato guy" (amongst guitarists at least) and I think that his style is probably too Jazz-influenced for most listeners. Someone like Chris Buck who has a more accessible Blues style is always going to have the larger audience but I don't know anyone who doesn't speak of Tom with a respect bordering on reverence.
@@sordel5866true. It’s strange because a few guys say Tom sounds repetitive while to my ears he’s always quite inventive, Chris buck for example as good as he is repeats licks a lot.
@@valebliz It's got something to do with expectation. If you don't listen to a lot of Jazz and you hear someone playing a lot of extended scales or partial scales it can sound "all the same" because you don't really have the level of musical appreciation needed to understand the musical choices. That's why a lot of jazz, even when they're playing all sixteenth notes, can be regarded as "background music".
great demo Tom as always! I wanted to power this from my pedal board power supply. I couldn't find any power supply that provides 24V 2.5A. How are you powering up the pedal? Are you using its own power supply?
now that was a fully fledged demo. cant say that enough😂. oh laney, miss my gh100s, the vh 100r… missed out on a vc30 chromozone… been fishing for a studio irt… gassing for the lion. now this seems like an option… nice one!
Bought it: LOVE the sounds coming out of the IR but hate the amp option driving my Celestion Vintage 30 - far too much mid range. I'm usually on Volume 2 and spot that Tom is on 6 which must be LOUD! Any experience out there to help?
Hey tom i have one question can i buy your website lesson through my friend in australia cuz i dont have mastercard or any card to buy so if i put my email in form i will recieve links to download or it will dowload in my friend's mobile automatically?
Tom, i am convinced your an AI this cant be real , you defy all the stereotypes of a great guitar player i notice you have average hands and maybe lean forearms, i have noticed its as entertaining to watch you play as it is to hear, it just dont seem possible, im old and set in my ways so ill never be the guitar player you are but, makes me wanna go buy the lionheart and the Ibanez your playing ......great video and great new amp thanks for your vids and cant wait till you come to the U.S .
Nice amp.i have the lionheart l5 studio head.amazing amp.i want to try this to see how close is it to the valve head.your style and playing is superb.i missed your clinic so i hope to see you live soon.🌹🌹❤🙏❤🙏👍🙏🎸🎸🙏
*Ok **#Tom**, so if I wanted to run that pedal through into a Torpedo CAB, via a Voodoo Labs GCX, could I use a -20 or -30db attenuator device, or would I actually have o use a LOAD BOX; consider that it the Lion Heart is an actual Amplifier? Is it necessary to run from the speaker out in order to get the FULL AMP TONE when using a device like the Torpedo CAB?* ...Also I want to know your honest opinion of the CLEAN TONE between the LION HEART PEDAL and the Two Notes REvolt. ...#cheers
It sounds great but I'm sure If I gave you a good enough guitar and my Roland Cube 60 or you could make it sound just as good, tremendous player!!! Great video!
I watched this video not only to see the new Laney Lionheart pedal, but mostly to see Tom play guitar. He is an amazing guitarist and his legato is incredible.

this or the ironheart for Hard rock? (not heavy)
I don't know whether to order the amp or quit playing altogether after hearing Tom's outstanding playing.

Seriously Tom, your playing in this was mindblowing 🔥🔥 And some love to the Flashback too. One of the cheapest yet most useful pedals I've ever had 😂
Love the lionheart sound. I’ve had 2 x 20 watt ones and this sounds super similar to the tone I hear from mine - pretty cool!

You Killin it.
nice little Scott blurb in the intros end there mate, great tones and of course needless you say your a killer player.
Some beautiful tones there with the new Ibanez TQ model, Tom!
