Hearing this reminds me of how Sailor Saturn/Hotaru was willing to sacrifice herself to save the world from being destroyed by Pharaoh 90. It deeply touched me and showed how truly brave and noble Hotaru truly was, it shows how even those who seem meek can rise to become great.
ryan macdonald the fucked up part is that the Inner Senshi didn't wanna sacrifice her and fought against the Outer Senshi to not kill her but at the end she would wind up sacrificing her life regradless.
Luckily, Sailor Moon was able to ensure that Hotaru was reborn as an infant so she could be raised by her dad. Later on, Hotaru was grown to sufficient size and maturity to aid the other Senshi in battle PLUS she was living with Haruka, Michiru and Setsuna and won them over with her personality so the ideals of the Inner Senshi won out in the end.
ryan macdonald true true. granted everything did ended bittersweet at the end of S but I guess things did work out for the better for everyone. I haven't seen much of stars but from what i seen and heard Hotaru is pretty much a bench warmer until the last few episodes of Stars.
I love that this specific song was dedicated to Hotaru/Sailor Saturn.. their tragedy in their lives and what they were destined to be is just so sad and even more lonely than the other outer soldiers. I mean.. Saturn was meant to live to die and bring total destruction, whereas Sailor Moon was meant to raise a beautiful kingdom with friends and family, who constantly surround her. I’m not dogging on my girl, Sailor Moon, but Saturn’s entire life is just a tragic story from start to finish.
In a way S was a game changer in that it dealt with actual potential death, characters almost got axed, Haruka outright killing herself…never realized how much this season affected me as a kid. Almost everything I saw after I had to compare to S, it was that influential.
