20:08 A HOBBY?!?!?? You dont join an AGENCY as a hobby, you have to set time aside to build from the ground up for stuff like that...like huh???
I'm just baffled by ppl who keep saying, "I'm Vtubing as a hobby," and your literally inputting your SSN, signing a 401-K, and upfront buying $1000s in equipment, assets, and a monster PC without even dipping your toes to essentially your employer
By that point, that's not a hobby, THATS A SECOND JOB

Yeah, there's the one chick from Nijisanji EN who said something similar (Aia Amare?) and that was surprising to me. If you're just going to join an agency or be a VTuber as a 'hobby' then don't be surprised when you get bad results

equipment in the thousands, you have to surrender to the agency too. So lots of instances of people being destitute after escaping.

Your brand is easily strong enough to warrant a plushie.
I've worked in merch for and with vtubers for 2 years now and I've seen way smaller creators sell insane amounts of plushies.

I know this. This is the one where the CEO lied about being partnered with VShojo to fool all the talents and staff into a scam.

exact same tactic as the eviltoaster guy to get in with a few vtuber circles because "zentreya is my friend and I'm a Twitch ambassador."
When someone has to name drop to get your trust. Don't trust them.

Gate kept the talents from speaking to the artists, too.

I think i agree a bit more with Bao here. It's not a matter of solo debut but I think most agencies that really got big got there by having a core group of talent with good chemistry together and they sort of built up and carried the brand. Early on the brands are carried by strong talent and I think doing big events or doing something new and different to get the names out there before looking at a second gen could be better for long term growth. As we can see from the evidence here, the current business models are not sustainable in 90% of cases so if nothing else they should at least try something different I think.

Yeah, phase connect is a good example of this, the random menheras that fishman recruited off of a scuffed reddit post ended up clicking with eachother and being a good core gen, so he made sure to build up that brand before bringing in invaders and other gens. I like pippa, tenma, lia and uruka (can't talk much about the jp members). I also like panko, remi and the members from the later gens and the invaders. If panko and remi and the others had debuted just shortly after pippa and tenma and the others instead of giving them some time to dig in that would've probably been too much to handle for fishman and ended up in yet another failed agency.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a vtuber group structured like a content creation group instead of an agency, like AMP or Beta Squad. We do get groups of vtubers that collab often with each other, but they don't really brand it.

I think one of the issues there would be that they have to be TIGHT. Vtubing is predominantly an internet thing, but it takes a lot of in person time to build the kind of rapport and trust that goes into a group like that. Vtuber gens come across like they're trying to do that but on an accelerated timeline but there's no guarantee. I just don't think collabs build strong enough camaraderie to organically form a group from. Anyway I think its possible but the real work would be happening behind the scenes

5:30 It's quite simple to explain this: People are selfish because we're built this way; like any living creature, your first and foremost goal is survival. With humans, the survivability depends on your income, and considering that donating to VTubers is like... at the end of the hierarchy of needs... you can see why they're a two-face liar (at least this is my reasoning)
And for using the grandiose words and phrases,
you do realize that most of the VTuber fans are weebs, right?

I think Phase Connect shows that having a smaller initial gen and focusing on unique talents is how to operate (Being Edgy without significant coomer baiting, Coffee, Invader talents, sponsoring events). There are way too many agencies to rely on market saturation anymore. If Nijisanji can't do it anymore, no one can.

I still watch rica every now and then, same as always. I rarely watch kson, cause i just don't like her newer content. I rarely watch dooby, same as before. Most of the time i watch because i like the the game or content they're making. Very rarely i watch a talent no matter what they do, like irys, ina, etc.

DN, when does next gens outperform the first? The only case I recall would be Kawaii, when gen 3 was on a path to outperform (and some of them in some criteria did) other gens, except for Nene, before they were terminated. Even in groups, where the most successful groups were not the first ones, like Idol or Niji, they were first at something (first "English", first males). Of course, being first doesn't guarantee doing better, as is the case in V4Mirai where everyone seems to enjoy about the same success, but I can't recall any runaway successes of non-first group except for the one. Most of the cases were individual successes: e.g. Cheri in VReverie vs. Hotaru (who graduated quite early).

VShojo is a unique case. It's not enough to have the right business model, you need the right people, and connections to make the business work.
VShojo's has a special connection with its main platform Twitch due to its CEO, Gunrun, having work there as one of the starting members when it was originally Justin.tv.
Because of that and its business success, VShojo has a special business deal with Twitch that provides automatic Partner status to its members and with the 70/30 split.
Twitch also has a special team that handles VShojo members and ensures they get preferred treatment.
For anything related with Twitch, Gunrun just has to make a phone call and make things happen.

The Schitzos on X think they are artists and became "Twartist" and think they can be vTubers and became vTweeters
You can't just make a model and Stream
You have to have an Attractive personality and be entertaining even with the VTuber model "debuff"
And has, E-Thots that got in on the vTuber fad in 2021 found out the hard way that without their Tits and Tighs showing they were boring as fuck and their viewers left so they quickly abandoned vTubing😹
Pekora even said she wanted to prove she can be entertaing and funny without showing her face or body
The hit and miss is really noticeable in Nijisanji cause it seems you only need a pulse to get into their academy and the ones that had the most Potential to be Riku's "EN Myth" has already left or got terminated and, because the IP didnt sell much merch they didnt promote Pomu,Selen,Nina,Mika, and Mysta as much as they could of
Likewise Riku wants a FuwaMocco but already let Pomu and Selen slip through their fingers and now Doki and Mint are arguing like a married couple on their game collabs like that Minecraft Marathon one 😹
