Congratulations on your new instrument! Early xmas gift to self? It looks and sounds lovely, and I can see the appeal for a guitarist. There's a guitarist who comes to our uke group with his uke-playing partner. After about three weeks as a spectator, he was so keen to join in that he bought himself a baritone!

I've always shied away from them as I own guitars, but in trying to feature more I started to 'get it' - i'm basically playing this as if it were a guitar missing two strings.

Great review, love the looks and agree with the headstock comment. Am seeing more and more slotted headstock first offerings and although I like the tone and wood choice it puts me off. This baritone is lovely, with Flight, they do seem to have a reputation for QC that requires specialists to correct them before selling, which isn’t really fair on them. From a business point of view, If all dealers sent them back or stopped stocking them, bet they would soon sort it. Flight do need to get a grip of this, especially if general Uke community hear it from multiple respectable and knowledgeable people. It actually puts me off buying a Flight and there are a few new releases that really appeal. Have a good week.

Great video as always! It's funny that you made this particular video right now, as I was ogling over this Flight Baritone for the last few weeks. They have them in stock at a popular online Uke shop here in the states that do thorough inspections before sending them out, and offer full setups for an additional cost. They also have photos of each individual in stock items, so you can pick out the exact one you want. I love the guitar but don't play it very well, and struggle with it quite a bit, so I switched over to the ukulele to build up proper skill. I own a concert and 2 tenors, but never really appreciated the sound of them, especially with the reentrant tuning. When I discovered the Baritone Uke some months back, It was love at first sight, or more accurately, sound, since it had the deeper, bassier sound of a guitar and utilising linear guitar tuning but played with only 4 strings that were much more manageable and made of nylon. It's more comfortable smaller sized package is a joy to play and I now own 3 Kala Baritones, the KA-BG, the KA-SCAC-B and the KA-CM-BE and I am planning on getting the Flight Aurora EQ-A after the holidays. Thanks again for this very welcome video.

Hey I I just received this today with a full advanced set-up, and a top strap button installed on the heel. This is my first Flight uke, and I love it! The craftsmanship, the beautiful shinny gloss, look of the wood , the sound, and tone are absolutely unreal. I am also very happy with this purchase and it is now the pride of my collection. At least until my fourth and final baritone uke comes next week, the Kala 8-string baritone.

I love a nice baritone like this one. However, like the Swedish boatpaddle last week, it has one feature I don't take to, which is the small-hole through the bridge stringing. If it was mine, I would have to make the holes bigger and put bridge pins in, which I really like. It would take good nerves to do it on an expensive uke, haha!

Comparing the parts between the two, IMO the Grover’s are better quality. For example, the Prowels have plastic washers, vs the Grover’s metal ones.

Hi Baz, I have a baritone uke that Rob Collins made for me, It’s very plain, with a nod to the Martin dreadnought body and headstock. I’ve had it for years. It’s reentrant tuned with worth clear fluorocarbon strings. It’s made from some kind of mahogany I think,it doesn’t really matter to me, it’s sounds wicked, a specially now it’s nicely played in. I’ll get to my point. Baritone ukes sound like ukuleles to me, very much so when reentrant tuned. 😊I own an Ozark tenor guitar, and that sounds more like a baritone ukulele than a guitar to me, just my 2d worth. I’ll lend you my baritone to review if you like.

Push through hole, fish out of soundhole - tie large knot or attach a bead and pull back. If it is snapping a twist of sandpaper inside the hole or needle file to smooth the edge can help

Sorry - have a policy of never recommending strings - not me trying to be unhelpful, it's just a totally subjective thing different for every player. I've seen people argue about the same string set - one saying they are bright, one saying warm - yet they are BOTH right (we all hear and play differently). My advice is just to buy a few sets and trust your own ears as to what you like!
