This time I linked up with my great friends and amazing vocalist Shoshana Bean to have her sing Mariah Carey's "Mine Again" off the masterpiece album Emancipation of Mimi.

The runs are all on point, she cracked on some of the end belts but they're damn near impossible and this was ONE take you guys!

It says everything about how difficult this song is that not even Shoshana Bean, the vocalists’ vocalist, is able to step to the power Mariah brings in the original recording. It’s an absolutely insane song. But I love how Bean puts her own personal spin on this.
I just found her last week and OMG can’t stop listening to her voice everyday since then! Where has she been all my life!

the f5 is just decent and definitely not supported and the g5 is cracked, other than that it's all mixed voice

I would have preferred a lower key for a warmer, "chest-y' sound throughout.
Late to the show, but this “sound” is why so many people think Sho is a soprano, when she’s actually an alto. Mariah is too, but she lives in a very comfortable head voice. I don’t know who to blame for these head voice, falsetto obsessions. I agree with you. A chest-y tone probably would have left room for those vocal acrobatics at the end. Nowhere to go but down, when you start so high up.
@@kwilliams8440 no, although this sound is possible for altos (i would know), sho has said she’s a soprano, in fact she’s one of the only sopranos to play elphaba, most are altos or mezzos! she’s a classically trained soprano

This tone is not even impressive to me … I know some soulful artist who can do this whole song with ease & even hit the highest notes. Keke Wyatt Amber Riley many many many many others . Even unknown and undiscovered singers . This “high” tone is like a cop out to not belt the notes fr like Mariah did

LolaD Young none of mariahs high belts and she neglected the clarity and intricate vocals mimi had and her runs weren’t as good nor was her tone or anything for that matter. She also missed the whistles at the end

Kabelo Moagi It's a magnificent performance. Is it absolute, technical vocal perfection? Yes, sometimes. This is live. One take. Accomplished as Mariah Carey is, she has never been good live; at her very best she could never do this song live in front of an audience. In her current condition she could barely handle Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I will acknowledge (and treasure) Mariah Carey's best work in the studio. But this is extraordinary and worthy of better than your sneering disrespect.
@@andrewsawler777 Mariah is definitely a boss singing Live. Yes she's had not so good performances but the good overshadow the bad.
She gets nervous and cracks here and there in Live TV performances but not on her own shows. Check out her latest performances off the Caution tour and come back to me.
And Mariah has sung Mine Again Live -twas during the 'Adventures of Mimi Tour' back in '05-'07.
Conclusion: Mariah is often imitated but never duplicated. And that's the 🍵!
