    Thank you so much for including the STEP files for older versions! My company is still using SW2021, and the official SW assembly training module only works on 2022. Glad I found yours!

      of course, I've got your back. Lots of my students in the course has the same situation so I knew I had to put the STEP for those who are working with the older version as well

    Hi Aryan, Im an experienced design engineer and have used 2D autoCAD all my career. I have attempted to move across to a 3D environment on multiple occasions in the past, however there is something that i simply cannot seem to overcome. The method i use when I am designing is to work from the outside in. By this i mean i typically draw in the known constraints in the space and then develop the object(s) or parts with consideration to these known constraints. I can't seem to easily be able to apply this same strategy in the 3D solid works environment. Its straight forward in Solid works to initially develop a part in space, however this requires you to know all the information of the finished product before commencing. The way I and most good engineers design, is to create an assembly first which includes all the surrounding constraints, and then utilise these constraints to develop some of the unknowns when drawing the object. Is this possible in Solid Works? If so, is it efficient? Many thanks in advance, Steve.

    • @with-Aryan
      @with-Aryan  Год назад +1

      Hi Steve, as an experienced design engineer, I can understand your concerns with transitioning from 2D CAD to 3D modeling. The good news is that SOLIDWORKS does provide a number of tools and workflows that can help you work from the outside in, as you described.
      One option to consider is creating an assembly in SOLIDWORKS that includes all of the surrounding constraints and components, and then designing your parts to fit within that assembly. This approach can help you ensure that your parts will fit and function properly in the larger system.
      Another option is to use SOLIDWORKS' sketching tools to create the overall shape and constraints of the part, and then use features such as extrudes, revolves, and sweeps to add detail and refine the design. You can also use SOLIDWORKS' assembly modeling tools to test fit and function of the individual components within the larger system.
      Additionally, SOLIDWORKS provides a variety of design tools and workflows that can help you efficiently create and refine your designs, including parametric modeling, feature recognition, and design automation.
      Overall, while the transition from 2D CAD to 3D modeling may require some adjustment, there are many tools and workflows available in SOLIDWORKS that can help you work from the outside in and efficiently create high-quality designs. With practice and dedication, you can master SOLIDWORKS and take advantage of its many features and capabilities.

    Hey dude! Viewer from Spain here. Really nice tutorial, well explained and easy to understand. I'm an engineering student and I use solid works almost daily. I would love to see a tutorial for a functional toaster, not too complicated. Anyways if you've got any tips for this purpose i'd love to hear them, thank you!

    When using the mate type "profile center" , when clicking the main body to mate to the camera I get the error "selected entity is not valid for current mate type". Is this a problem with the download when using Solidworks 2018?

    • @with-Aryan
      @with-Aryan  2 года назад

      Nope! The issue must be something else you're doing. Can't say what before I see it

    When I try to mate>advanced>profile center> click on flat surface of camera body then try to click on the flat surface of the lens body, it says the "selected entity cannot is not valid for mate type. Why does this happen? I am stuck on this step. Any help is appreciated! I am using solidworks 2021 and had to use the step parts.

      you can open STEP in any verison of SW. The issue lies somewhere else and not your SW version.
