Any back without damaging anything, no matter how long it takes, is a successful one! I think I would've started with the tractor angled toward that exit gate but, I wasn't there to evaluate the situation. Cascadias are nice when set up properly. The main reason your Classic is noisy inside when driving (other than old insulation and worn out weather stripping) is that the stacks are right behind your ears. The solution-lots of dyna-mat when you redo the interior. I know this from experience since I bought my Classic new. It was never quiet inside and the aftermarket 8" pipes didn't help matters lol! The dyna-mat, along with new seals REALLY quieted things down. The extra insulation also helps regulate temperatures. It's now ALMOST as quiet inside as any brand new tractor. I love my pipes though lol!
I watch a lot of your videos and you sure do get some very tough places to get into & out of, but you always seem to figure it out one way or another. GOOD JOB once again,
Little tip, you should just drive past your dock a little, go at a 45 degres angle, make your truck perpendicular to the dock and let te trailer do the work, you would have more space to back up
@@cajunman2261 If you can't back well sliding you're tandems to the front isn't a good idea, the tail swing from the yrialer overhang can get you in trouble.
That was tight...I've had to ask the spotter back my trlr in once. I'll also unhook to make it easier on a driver if need be (so I don't get hit : ) )....good job.
Love your video's, its funny, I'm in a truck all day and now I watch you when im not. Seriously though keep em coming. I started laughing when you started your back at the post office because you started breathing hard, lol, I know that feeling man! Too fucking tight out front there on that dock. People don't understand the stress we deal with.
Most of those USPS lots were made back when the trailer lengths were 38 & 40 ft long & 96 inches wide & were pulled by cabovers !! Even then,... they were tight !! Steve / W5BIB
Biggest thing that helped my backing was not to “fish” around on the steering wheel. Straighten out your tires scoot back see how trailer reacts adjust accordingly rinse and repeat.
Last week was my first time driving a Volvo! Holy crap Batman! I’m sold! I’ve driven many trucks in my 12 years of trucking but, I never considered driving a Volvo! Seriously thinking of purchasing one shortly!
Your videos are so interesting from the challenges you have to face with heavy traffic, unyielding 4-wheelers not to mention, the tight spaces you have to pass through. From a woman's perspective, if I had been behind the wheel, there would be NO fenders on the surrounding vehicles!!
Had one for a rental a few weeks ago. Thankfully it was standard with good power from a red engine. Was happy to get out of it and back into an old Volvo.
TheDriver I resisted moving into an automatic, but love how easy it is to drive highway and most situations on city roads. One issue I have with the auto transmission is that the reverse low gear is not low enough to slowly back a heavily loaded trailer on an upward inclined surface. Sometimes get warning that the clutch is overheating if a tricky backing situation.
Definitely agree. I had a 2014 daycab that was designed to pull LCV's (2 53' trailers with a dolly in between grossing 140,000 lbs) so it had some power, plus it was a 13 speed manual.
I appreciate you showing the full length struggle docks it helps newbies like myself getting into the industry know its not all unicorns and rainbows when it comes to delivering
If I was driving behind you I would have let you in😃 Its one of my pet peeves that drivers don't give the right away to trucker's. Especially with the Corona Virus pandemic going on...these trucks maybe delivering toilet paper, paper towels, eggs... who knows... think about it people...the next time you cut off or don't give way to a trucker!! PS...Yes I've always wanted to be a truck driver since I was a little girl. I have major respect for them. #RespectTruckers
I've been down there quite a few times while I was still working with a post office contractor. It's tight AF, but you get used to it the more you're there. I could imagine having your tandems all the way back in that place is a nightmare, definitely slide those forward and it'll make life much easier when you angle off the dock you're backing into. @31:33 instead of making that turn, you can also keep straight and take Market past 14th and it'll hit Tucker. You did good for your first time there though! 👍🏾
You'd have never gotten in there with the Classic. Still a fine job. I used to haul bulk mail back in my days, and yeah, a lot of the USPS hubs were really tight. And I was driving a Century day cab. Don't think I could do the auto trans though. But what do I know, I'm just a crippled old geezer.
Them Cascadia’s are alright they have a decent ride I bet you keep looking for the clutch though lol that can be tough going from a Standard to a automatic lol !!!
Coronado gliders are where it's at man, we have about three of them now. No DEF, no ELD's, just a super solid truck. If you're ever looking at buying one, I'd check out the inventory at Lyon's Truck & Trailer. They're super nice people and will make sure you're taken care of.

Good job Rasim. Unbelievable some of the places Truckers have to squeeze into. DOT, and city ordinances etc..etc.. should be a little more concerned about that sort of stuff. Or the company one delivers to should make some major changes with Professional Truckers that have to drop off the goods in mind. Wow was that ever tight.
What range a value is okay for you a mile. If it’s not $2 a mile what are you looking for a mile. I have seen loads on DAT that less than $2 a mile. How can trucks get paid less $2 a mile and still make a living in trucking.
microphone workin a treat o t we hear ya clean n green now and seein your mirrors is great i think that auto boxes makes backin up a lot easier too, great video.
That just Proves there are still Nice 👍 people in this World 🌎 willing to help. Next time, tell the United States 🇺🇸 Postal Service to let you borrow a Freakin Shoe Horn to get parked into a Ridiculously Small parking space. This Post Office (next to Union Station) is over 100+ year Old and hasn’t been updated much. This parking lot was never designed for 53’ Trailers since most USPS trucks which use this lot have shorter trailers. GO Figure. 🤪
Your setup could use a little work but you did a good job and got it in that's all that matters. I would have went in there and told them to give me a different door over risking an accident.
Always nice with newer trucks. I have a 1 year old Volvo fh driving around in Sweden and its really nice, to bad we cant post pictures on RUclips. The audio gets really bad when you have the camera on the dashbord so you know 🙂
Yeah it is a Cascadia, but still a Piece of JUNK FREIGHTLINER; and the old 60series were good engines, but these new DD13 and DD15 are JUNKS, only the MaxForce beats it for WORST ENGINE!!!
Automatic all day lol, but considering the reliability and maintnce needed on manual I’d choose manual all day. If I was a big company driver I’d ask for a Volvo 860 with automatic and be set, why put your body through all that shifting if you don’t have to, owner op choices is a different topic
They should make drivers drop their trailer while getting loaded or unloaded...or space out the doors they give drivers!!!! All those empty doors and they give you that one nope I wouldn't do it 🤬🤬
Why should we have to drop our trailers and find somewhere else to park? Move those damn trailers across the yard to a drop-lot somewhere else. They're in the way.
Whether you slide them back or forward amount of room needed in front of dock needed is same.. id rather slide back and go closer to dock and control my swing than forward and have to keep an eye out on it more. Just personal preference
$2 round trip average is what you’d get in slow season. Not much money to be made really, average $2.50/3 is where you’re making money. Most company drivers get paid $.40/45 per mile but keep in mind 0 expense
For me parking in the hardest spots are easiest to me. But when its wide open easy place to park i always overthink and Fuck it up lol.
Ha, I'm the exact same way. I can dock at the worst spot like a boss. But have a harder time at the easier ones.
Nick I’m just like that also
yeah when its tight its easier to focus where you have to go lol
You are not the only one lol
Thanks for keeping the video full length, it definitely reassuring to see everyone struggles at some point.

And slide tandam to front. Once in hole slide tandam back !!!
Agreed

A fellow truck ham!
Im nervous just watching. . . good stuff. . . glad to see fellow brother truckers still help out. . .

The small white car that passed you at the beginning was a 1989 Toyota MR2. I owned a blue one ;)
Excellent video Rasim, it was very tight well done, mate.
Last week was my first time driving a Volvo! Holy crap Batman! I’m sold! I’ve driven many trucks in my 12 years of trucking but, I never considered driving a Volvo! Seriously thinking of purchasing one shortly!
Having driven almost everthing out there I must agree . But wish I could drive a few of the old ones again.
Be prepared to spend more time in the shop than on the road whilst getting screwed from shop time and overpriced Volvo parts.
@@Blackopsmw21VLOG Anything that eats DEF has more issues.
Blackopsmw21VLOG I agree but, all trucks have issues. The major factor is how much money does a driver have to spend. As a driver we make the choice

I use to do that run. From NJ to st Louis. Doesn't pay shit now. You turned down a $2 a mile load while you were on a $1.40 a mile load. Lol
