Jack, have you ever considered keeping the sump oil from your many vehicles when doing the routine oil change. Mix this with your diesel and you would get a longer burn time on the carcases thus not have to scavenge about for kindling which appears scarce on your station.
bootleg napalm, I dig it. heavy wheel grease is a good addition, along with any heavy weight oil such as 80-90 gear oil would help extend burn time and goopyness, but flamable accelerants are still important typically you need at least 800 degrees Fahrenheit or 1472 degrees Celsius to carburize bones for them to be considered ash
Yep, a 50/50 mix of sump oil and diesel is damn good for lighting things up. The diesel burning heats up and cracks the sump oil, which burns really well once hot. Use that on all the burn piles I light up in Vic.
We know this is a labour of love for the land - sad that the feral population takes so much of the day to control. In years to come, the results and efforts of the Prenti team must be recognised ... So many historical disasters across the country... slowly we are learning. Top effort guys...
Two parts diesel to one part petrol is the optimum mix for the fire bug boys. Get a 44 gallon drum and pour in two 20l jerry cans of diesel and 1 20l jerry can of petrol and draw your bug fuel from that. you’ll find that’ll light easily every time. And yes I’m a volunteer firefighter.
Danny. Talk, 😂 a man of action and not words 👍, nice job. I can’t believe how quickly those camels dehydrated in the sun in a few days, even though it was only in the 40s. Ime amazed that fire even burns the bones to powder.
yeah I agree, but then I can't even imagine a 40C day. I live in New Brunswick, Canada and find it overly hot at anything above 25C...lol. It's a beautiful -8C here this morning @ 0844...kind of a nice day to be out and about...well, for me anyway. ;-)
@@RGF56 well it did go up to 10C that afternoon...great weather for maple sap to run...mmmm maple syrup time. (cold nights and warm days in the spring) But seriously, -8C isn't really terrible, you can put clothes on to stay warm...but can't take enough off to get cooled down...well w/o getting arrested...lol
Thanks for making Danny Famous like You ...blue bird sky. .. its Hot and the fires don't help ! Your one of my Favorite sights . The other favorite is Cutting Edge Engineering . Thanks, See Ya
Just wondering why the burn is needed? Is it to return nutrients to the land, removing a food source for potential predators or is it about sterilising the land to prevent disease ? Back in the day, animal carcasses were ground to make a fertiliser (Blood Fish and Bone Meal)
You should point out that it isnt just the impact to you running cattle, but the amount of water per camel per week is quite a lot, impacting everything in the area
Well at least the dingos are well fed 😂. In Turkmenistan I’ve seen them roast whole camels for a BBQ. It tastes nice camel. I love trying different meats and just incase you’re wondering it’s quite gamey in terms of flavour - sort of like a cross between beef and lamb so it works great for BBQs.
I didn't guess the reason correctly, surprises me that cattle chew on bones / dead animals. It is unfortunate as the camel is full of protein and fat, which act as a fertilizer to the soil. I noticed they dehydrated pretty well compared to what I was expecting as I live in a damp climate.
It is a shame that you can't sell the Meat"? Or Round them up for overseas markets. Anyway great work guys 👏👏👏👍👍👍. Cheers for sharing. From South Australia...👏👏👏✌✌✌🙏👍👍🍺

We have so many feral horses in the western states with no way to control them. Too many horse lovers. Laws need to change for the indigenous animals sake.
The Fan is spinning. Sustained burning around the water points is going to exhaust your twig fuel as you know. Charcoal beads may be a sustained flame option to drop onto the camel carcasses. You could make your own charcoal at the beer garden. 🫡🇦🇺

Why do you need to clean the camels up ? If left, surely the would.just rot away, or is there an issue with smell/ flies/ disease and the cattle or their location close to the yards?
Was wondering if you have found any aboriginal artifacts on your station or evidence and does Danny ever show you any aboriginal history or ways of the past
You probably should look at buying or building a biochar reactor to burn them in. Biochar is amazing stuff, not only for the soil as it works like a sponge to hold moisture but studies are showing greater yields in stock (weight gains & milk production) with less feed using it as a feed supplement.
