- The Santoor is an ancient Indian instrument. I have been playing since the past 11 years and wanted to share it with as many of you as possible :) Please have a look at this quick one if you have the time:
• A short fast piece
Please leave your comments! I would love to get some feedback.
Thank you!!
Ananya
In this era, someone choosing to play Santoor, shows the maturity of the person and the knowledge one carries about music……. Simply wonderful…. God Bless…
The reason why Indian music captivates the audiences around the world isn't it's complexity or Its intricacies, but how it is woven with the lives of the people of India... It's all around you...and so the audience easily relates to it.... Fortunate are those born on this mystical land..
music instrument name is shata tantri veena dates back its origin to anceint vedic times first mentioned in Sanskrit texts of india well the Persian instrument is Indian version of tantari veena!
Really true and correct observation
I am 17 now I started playing santoor when I was 10 years old . I played it for 5 years, but due to covid and as i am in 12th (JEE ADV) now i have not practiced it since 2 years i felt very emotional after seeing this 😢😢. I remember in the beginning I was not even able to tune it properly but my guruji taught me patiently. I hope I will start playing it soon
@@Whocares6090 I hope you play again. Nothing satisfies my heart like seeing my santoor sticks frolicking on those strings

Lovely!.my greek grandpa played santouri in vaudeville w/my gram who sang in Greek & Turkish& danced, along w/my mom who started dancing w/them at age 6, later known as Melanie Marko, the Golden Greek, the Cat Girl, Leopard Girl, the serpent & the slave girl, & taught ballroom, tap, modern, ballet. I had a radio show for 12 yrs "Music of Many Lands" at UCSB & saw Shivkumar Sharma there. Its my fave instrument.

Raag Hansdhwani, beautiful as always
😃Seems like you know about the raags....can you tell me more. Can you tell me what types of raags are there. Our culture is absolutely beautiful and I want to learn more.
@@somyarishi7884 Sure but it is not possible for me to explain everything here. You can head over to a channel named Anuja Kamat. She has apt representation and explanation for all of this in a very easy language. She also has a video where she explains how different ragas can change the mood of different songs.
@@aniruddh4881 Oh okay....thank you so much ☺️ Have a great day ahead!🌄
Song is " Jaa tose mai na bolu Kanhaiya " - Lataaji
Which, in turn, is based on the Carnatic krithi _Vathapi Ganapathim bhajeham_ The Bhendibazar gharana founder, Aman Ali Khan, whose pen name is ‘Amar’, has used the same tune to fashion his famous bandish ‘Lagi lagan sakhi pati sana’, sung by the likes of Ustads Amir Khan and Rashid Khan.
The sound is much common in any kinds of TV serials or Programmes ... But I saw the instrument for first time ... Thanks RUclips for recommending this video 😲😲😱❤️❤️

She is so graceful
My first live introduction to Santoor was when I saw Pt. Shivkumar Sharma ji performing at Kamani auditorium in Delhi and since then I fell in love with this instrument. I was then around 16-17 years old boy learning Indian classical vocal music and got mesmerized by the performances of legends like Pt. Jasraj Ji and Pt. Shivkumar Sharma ji. In the end, I would like to congratulate Annie for this beautiful rendition. Well done. 👏👏👏
Excellent and expert play. RUclips recommended me today and I came to know that familiar sound of happy moments in every Indian serials/films.😀
I enjoy Santoor music immensely and it is a happy uplifting music to hear!!!. Thanks

Happy to see you playing this instrument, because i was learning this before 48 years....
10 years old video 🥹🥹 reminds me of my old memories 😭😭
Around the Alps, there are similar instruments used for traditional music. In Germany they are called "Hackbrett"
And the rythm she is playing is called Raga Hamsa dhwani...
It is not a song just like like Beethoven's Piano sonata no.14, Fur Elise etc..like compositions.
In indian classical music there are multiple Ragas with their own houses..
Like she is Playing raga Hamsa dhwani ie. the melody of swan from the house of Jaipur ,it is a very famous musical hub known for its innovative and flexible music
Most of instruments across world are similar derived from one another
In this case hackbrett is derived from Persian Santur (the one in this video is Indian santoor) , other are Arab kanun, China yangqin many more but these I mentioned are older/ancient
Thank god new generation will generate awareness of these instruments globally
I was like: Wooow...🔥🔥
