Thank you both for sharing this!! Have Martha Sweezy's book, it is incredibly helpful, as well as Christine's RUclips series on the book & shame. Not a clinician myself, so Christine's series really helps me to understand the book. Without it, the book is a bit over my head. Although I have a sense that Martha is sharing a "gold standard" for how a person can heal using IFS.

12:12 wouldn’t it be true to say that whatever the protector is doing to you, if you look at the opposite of that role, you could better know what is the vulnerable part’s wound. My inner critic is also a strict grandmother, and all she does is deride me, but when I get a handle on my parts, she’s a proud cheerleader, because as a child, I was ostracized and lost touch with my pride. I’m really working on building that up again. But you see the correlation? And this is a gateway to getting closer with exiled parts that hide from you or you have difficulty with which to get in touch. It’s easier to know what the protector is doing because it’s so loud.
