- In this video I will show you how to cast game controller buttons. I use Oyumaru to make a mold of a Famicom controller d-pad. Then I cure the clear hard UV-resin with a UV-LED light. Finally you get to see the video game controller with its custom cast buttons. Also I give you a sneak peak at my future Star Wars themed Famicom mod🎮

A trick : watch movies at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching lots of of movies lately.
@Vicente Andrew yea, I have been watching on flixzone for since december myself =)
a bunch of other people have mentioned it, but i wanna also add that the sounds are a bit much. They're a cute addition, but overused and too loud(louder than your voice track most of the time). If you at the very least turn them way down (like to the same level as the music in the background) things would sound better IMO.
Zachary thanks for your kind words and advice. You are right the sounds are coming in far too hot my apologies to your ears. I will keep the sounds lower next time. 🙏🙏🙏
Yo mama.
Good stuff dude! Appreciate the love and let there be no doubt this is a unique way to do it for it, thanks for sharing!
Thank you kind sir. That means a lot coming from one of the professionals. This method is by no means perfect but it is nice to be able to see your results so quickly. I will be trying silicone mold making soon. Then I will eventually get a pressure pot and see how it goes. Big ups my friend👍
What a quick and easy casting method!
@esotericSEAN I feel incredibly honored to have a Gameboy modding legend such as yourself grace my comments section thank you👍 Are you gonna try it out?
@@ScruffyLookinRGB You make some great content too, keep it up! I just may have to try this method. :)
@@esotericsean thank you so much this has really made my day. By all means try it out and show me your results.👍Looking forward to seeing it😁
Good video I just recommend you dont use so many of the extra sound effects while you're speaking it breaks up the flow of an otherwise really well done video.
Thanks for the advice👍 Much appreciated. Ill try to time it better next time. 🙏🙏🙏
@@ScruffyLookinRGB if you felt it added to your creative style and process and you want to keep them in, it would be good to have them where there is longer pauses between talking and more importantly make sure that the volume levels are the same (if not lower) than any speech noise! The R2 at :50 screeched my ears off! lol
Good video and thanks for the upload and showing us all your process :)
@@Kenteshimodo thanks for the advice mate. Ill try to keep it more consistent especially the volume levels🙏 sorry about your ears 😯 cheers👍👍👍
Love your sampled sounds. Great channel by the way!
Glad you like them! Sorry the volume was a bit loud in parts im sure.😅
@@ScruffyLookinRGB no problems with sound for me! I enjoy them! 💪
Dude that's awesome thanks for sharing
Thanks for the complement😁Are you gonna try it out? Let me know how it goes🐢👍
Mouldy buttons on lupus snooker balls?
The Cadbury buttons are cancelled 😭😂
Now Pokemon got big problems 😭
👍👍👍
That's so awesome. I'm showing these in my class for molding and casting. We cast with silicone, but this looks easy and for small projects.
Thank you im honored that you feel my video is worthy for your class. Much appreciated🙏🙏🙏 Im currently editing some more videos using silicon i could use your pointers so please check them out when i release them. What kind of things do you makn silicon molds for in your class?
@@ScruffyLookinRGB sounds good dude. I've already forwarded these videos to my teacher, he enjoyed them. Said this is something we can show the younger students to get them more excited.
@@ScruffyLookinRGB they made duck web feet tent roof
This is so awesome, I have been looking for an easy and less expensive way to resin cast controller buttons! I am wanting to use this technique for gamecube buttons, but I am worried that they might not hold up for smash bros. Do your buttons hold up and stay hard after a while?
Thank you i have never made any game cube buttons but these will stand up to anything you throw at them because its hard resin👍👍👍so you can smash away😁
@@ScruffyLookinRGB Awesome! I already ordered the supplies. Great Video!
Awesome share your results with me id love to see how they turn out
I need to give this a go. Looks fun and cool way of modding consoles.
It is a lot of fun and not too difficult the results are a little scruffylookin tho 😉
@@ScruffyLookinRGB I need to find the sticks you use in the UK. Seen similar products but nothing as convenient as that pack you had.
Scruffylookin is good 😁
I'm very new to the world of resin. When adding color do you use acrylic or mica powder? I've been hesitant to experiment because I'm mostly cheap lol Love the video always good stuff :D
Thank you so much Vera it means a lot to me! Honestly so am I. If you can find some uv resin and oyumaru give it a try and let me know how it goes👍 There are specific dyes you can buy. Here in Japan at the 100 yen store (dollar store) they sell little bottles of colored uv resins. I think acrylics are ok to use too. Using glow in the dark powder is pretty cool too. I'll do some more experimenting in the near future.
the sounds added made me lmao for no reason
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
Hey, I was wondering what gauge syringe needle did you use? I know this video is a little old, but I wasted a few bucks already on the wrong size gauge already and don’t want to get the wrong size again.
Any size will work the syringe here holds 10ml i think. Good luck what are you casting?
@@ScruffyLookinRGB Oh I meant the size of the needle. I’m casting D&D dice and gameboy color buttons. The 32G needle was too thin for the resin to go through.
Is there any way to make the rubber parts with the carbon contacts, in other words, the flexible part between The button and the circuit board?? Good video bro!! Thanks
Yes there is a silicon that has conductive material in it apparently I've never used it myself but that is something I'd like to do in the future.
That was some cool stuff I’ll have to try it out!
David, thank you! I really appreciate the positive feedback😁👍Definitely try it out and share your results with me🎮 I love to see other peoples ideas👍🎮🎮🎮
Pretty cool! Could you make a video showing how to cast a game boy shell?
That is an awesome idea. Im still working my way up to something that size. But will get to that point very soon i hope. Thank you😁
Love the Jawa commentary. Kept me rolling. You don't get enough Jawa you become too critical of others. Great video.
Sam, I appreciate that. I agree with you I was thinking the same thing Im glad some one besides my self gets a kick out of it. Thanks for the kind words man.
does it have to be clear oyumaru to harden properly under uv light?
Yes otherwise there will be issues with hardening the resin
Great video. I know this is 5yrs old but the Oyumaru is unavailable on Amazon 😢
Oh no! There are oyumaru alternatives out there with different brand names you just gotta check out what they are in your area. I also know a product called blue stuff which is the same thing.
I just want to put dmg gameboy buttons and dpad in there, that's what I grew up with. softer and less hard on fingers.
I have heard that once before. Ill have to try it out. Ill have to make some DMG buttons next time. Thank you!
this might save me of rebying some controller beucase there is no spare part sold.
Im glad to hear that may you get some clean results👍
Would the material you used to make the mold work with other types of resin?
Yes, I have seen other youtubers use oyumaru to make model figurines and things like that. What are you planning to use?
@@ScruffyLookinRGB I'm not totally sure yet, but I plan to look Into high quality 2-part resins to get the most durable result
@@JoshLeGrow very cool. Are you planning to make buttons? For what console?
@@ScruffyLookinRGB GameCube
@@JoshLeGrow you gotta show me your results when you are done
great tutorial but man those random noises are creeping me out o.O
Thanks a lot🙏🙏🙏 Sorry the jawas in my apartment can get a little crazy at times🤭
I have a sega saturn controller with a broken dpad I can try this with.
Definitely worth a try. Let me know how it turns out.
Can you make a video about installing a gbc into a dmg shell?
Very interesting idea I will look into it thanks so much for your video idea much appreciated.😀
good videos! But those sounds are so annoying!! lol i cant focus on the video.
I love the video but the random sound effects make it hard to listen to
Thanks dont worry i will be making another one like it real soon minus the over done sound effects
Cool video but the sound effects are annoying
hola 😉
Back at ya👍😁
what the fuck is this random sounds
