It is the weird decision for it not to be on thr lxrp list, but it would be difficult to redirect traffic from city link back to Burnley and space to build the above ground rail pass would be problematic, however with the golf course closed surely now is the time to do it.
I think the reason backlights were installed was for pedestrians to see, as before that, there wouldn’t have been any visual indication from the south side that the crossing would’ve been activated. This in conjunction with the crossing not having pedestrian gates meant that it could’ve been a bit dangerous, so that’s why they installed them. Another thing to note is that the backlights are specifically aimed for pedestrians approaching the crossing, with the left one aimed at the footpath, and the right one aimed at the zig zag fences thingy
True, just a guess but it may be because of Burnley sidings? Have no idea if that’s correct thought, but I do agree that pedestrian gates should be installed as this crossing sees decent train traffic (Trains to/from Glen Waverley, and trains heading in and out of Burnley sidings too)
