With this exact setup and equipment practically, I make about 4,000$ cash a month and that's just hobby sawing. Hope to step up soon to a bigger mill and new 85g or 306 cat excavator then hopefully be making double at the minimum glad to see other sawers!
Nice! I probably should try and sell a little lumber now and then. I mainly just saw for myself. I could definitely use a mini excavator! Good luck and thanks for watching!
Researching Sawmills now. What do you think about the long term reliability of the LT28. Any concern with the single side support for the saw assembly? Would you recommend a different saw based on your experience. Thanks for posting your videos. Nice quality.
Awesome! I have been more than impressed with the reliability so far. I can’t think of any problems I’ve had with the mill. I was kind of concerned with the single sided mount for the saw head when I was researching them myself but again I’ve had zero issues with anything being out of spec. Still cuts true despite being moved around and setup in different locations many times. I have no experience with any other brands other than watching them on RUclips. Sorry I can’t give you a better answer but I can say that I’d buy it again and I never minded making the monthly payment even if I never sawed a single board that month. Lol. I still love it. Thanks for watching and good luck with your saw purchase!
Great video I just found your channel I’ve had a lt28 since 2008 love the log clamp idea did you make that or buy it from wood mizer? I have the electric winch too but switched mine to a wireless remote winch it can be operated from anywhere around the mill.
Thanks! I bought the log clamp from Wood-Mizer for an LT15 and just bolted it on. There’s a little support arm on the clamp that keeps the clamp standing upright on the LT15. I cut it off because it’s not needed on the LT28. Other than that, all I did was drill two holes and bolt it on. I’ve thought about the wireless remote. I may need to try it out! Thanks for watching!
They may offer something like that now but when I did mine all they offered was a hand crank winch. I built mine with some scrap metal and a harbor freight 3500lb winch. I did get the built in turner with the mill when I ordered it. I just had them leave out the hand winch because I knew I would put an electric one on it. Thanks for watching!
It wasn’t too bad actually. I just welded up some 1/4” plate and angle iron to hold the winch and bolted it down where the hitch bolts to the frame. I use a small battery that I can charge when needed. It lasts me days before I need to charge it. It works great on bigger stuff but when I get down to a smaller cant, I sometimes use the cant hook. Thanks for watching!
@@MountainMindset Thanks for the quick reply! I also use the cant hook when they are smaller. I have a 30" diameter EWP on my LT28 right now and it's a bear to turn manually. I am going to try and add the winch asap.
Norwood has a neat device that stops the log from rolling backwards. I like the claw feature on the LT 28.
I’ll look into that. Thanks!

Can you upgrade to an electric winch through wood mizer or is that something you did?

How hard was it to get the winch installed? I am getting tired of manually turning the logs...

@@paulcasterlin1618 Sounds like fun! Let me know if you have any other questions. I’ll do my best to help! Thanks!
@@MountainMindset If you can show how the winch was mounted with a short video that would help me.
@@paulcasterlin1618 I’ll see what I can do!
That ending tho 🙁
Q ? Tiene
I have a wood-mizer sawmill and I was making a bench out of an oak log. Thanks for watching!

Awesome! Hopefully he’s better at grammar than you!
@@MountainMindset 🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈 I was thinking the same
@@MountainMindset about that grammar that is
Not just grammar. Syntax, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, etc.
