Wow a 2018 and the gearbox went poop... my 2016 Keystone cougar had that cable system and I never had a problem with the motor or gearbox just 1 cable had broke. Dealership quoted me $400 to replace and I had to purchase the cable (because they couldn't get the part). I got the cable for $45, I replaced it myself and had it adjusted all in 25 min and ready to go again. You should always try and do the job yourself before dumping it off at a dealership and get ripped off. I'm sure this job would have been 100x easier if this didn't have to be done in such a tight space, nothing is ever that easy on these trailers. I also used a label maker and put a label below each slide switch so anyone who opens the control center knows what button does what slide.

I lived full time from 2016 to 2020 (until covid) in my trailer and learned a lot about the weak points and how to fix it. Thank you for the video. Regarding axle stiffness, a solid smooth shaft will be stiffer and stronger (safer) than the all thread that was used. You'll almost never find threaded rod in bending like it is used here because all of the threads act like stress risers. This is arguably overkill, but if it was me, I would be using AISI 4130 (or similar) steel shaft, shaft collars, and bronze washers with those casters. Or retaining clips and bronze washers if you have a way to cut grooves in the shaft.

I spent the day doing what you did. However I ran out of sunlight! I recently bought the 4700, as I got closer to my house it started going slower & slower. By the time I got to my house the 4700 was going about 15 mph! It took me several hours to go about 120 miles. It was the last 20 miles that it slowed down to a crawl. I replaced the fuel filter, & removed & cleaned the small screen housing. The screen was plugged solid. I don’t know how it even ran. Tomorrow is another day! I’m sure once the system is thoroughly bled it will start like a champ. So far I’ve had about as much fun as you’ve had. My armchair recliner brother in law wants to know why it takes so long to change a filter. LOL!

That will be a good low maintenance driveway for many years. You could have made it look nice temporarily with a box blade. But you fixed it up for the long haul. Nice work.

@@AnomadAlaska Thanks buddy. I appreciate it. I’ve been wanting to bring my tractor with me on these jobs but I have a really hard time getting it onto my gooseneck trailer. The ramp is just steep enough that if there is an implement on the back of the tractor, it drags to the point of stopping. I have to get very creative in loading it. Lol. It does fit on there with my excavator. Hopefully I can find a better way and will soon be able to bring the tractor too. 👍🏻
