I was wondering if I could LAYER the same mp3 song, in Audacity to create a fuller sound, & increase volume. I have been using a stand alone DAW for recording, mastering, burning CDs, etc., for the last 15 yrs. I have had severalsongs receive airplay on a couple of Radio stations. A good friend & DJ told me my mp3s aren't actually "loud enough" for radio play. I know in the old days, when recording, some musicians would layer their instruments (IE record the same guitar part several times, then after the final mix the instrument would be fuller & louder.) I'm new to audacity. Your tutorial was simple & easy to understand. However I've done that & my recording though clean hasnt increased in volume. Granted it is acoustic instruments, but after adding Amplify it only increased the signal s;ightly. Any help would be appreciated. Gil
Thank you for your video. I was able to import the music file into the free version of Audacity. But then when I went to record my voice, it started recording at the end of the music file, instead of below it (so it could overlap). I am unsure how to get my voice to overlap the music. Thank you!
How do you listen to the existing recorded tracks while recording a new track on top without the existing tracks bleeding onto the new track we are recording? I'm a multi instrumentalist so I'd like to generate a click track to start ( I know how to do this) but when I try to record a new track I can hear the click track on my new track when I mute the click track and play back the new one. Every subsequent track carries itself onto the next and it just turns into a layers of tracks each one getting muddled by the previous one. This has long been an issue and I really need to know the solution. Thanks in advance.
You need to be listening tp the previously recorded track through headphones while you record. And they should be some high-quality noise-cancelling headphones.
Yay! You're my new favourite person! You made this so easy! Thank you thank you thank you!
Bro, I’m starting a podcast and I’m a knuckle freaking dumb dumb and you have been the biggest help ever thank you so much!
