- Very special trains from an unexpected city, Ankara. These are the Hawker Siddeley H6 trains running in the M1 Metro line in Ankara Metro System. The line is opened in 1997. The trains are build by Bombardier, not by Hawker. They are based on Hawker's H6 used in Toronto.

The Legacy of the TTC H6 lives on
they do not live any more h6 are gone :(
@@borakaraca9788 Wait, they were all retired from Ankara?
@@ThatGFFANunfortunately yes
It was taken out of service for renovation by Aselsan at the end of 2018, but this renovation was canceled, the H6 trains did not return to the lines as there were enough new trains to take their places. Currently, H6s are still kept in warehouses and can sometimes be used on special occasions, for example this year they were used for 1 day on 8 March Women's Day and 23 April Children's Day.
@@izmirraylısistemvideoları will Ankara keep an H6 set for a historical fleet? It's unbelievable that they retired them after only 22 years, even less than Toronto's H6 (the reason Toronto retired the H6 after 28 years is because they had constant reliability issues, which I'm sure Ankara's did not).
Beautiful metro--lovely and clean!--I really enjoyed your video. Thank you.
The H6 were retired in passenger service on June 20th 2014, as the Ankara Metro saved then as they have it And They were sold to the new rail in Lagos Nigeria but they were cancelled. But remember both trains served there line on Toronto, As they retired on June 20th 2014, They will have no H series cars
I loved the Bombardier but those trains unfortunately retired :( There are new trains which made by china.
Yeah
Those trains were built brand new by Bombardier in the mid 90's. They were based on TTC H6 vehicles but have some features that are unique only to Ankara Metro.
Yup
I'd love to see one say Kennedy or Kipling on the role sign
You won't see that. Maybe Batikent. I would know as I was part of Engineering team that built these vehicles and the role sign was in my scope.
@@josephmarconi665 just imagine one of these say Kennedy on the role sign and let it sink in how cool that would be :)
This H6 is different from the TTC
Because they modded it
We have Bombardier T1
#ANKARALIKESTHEWORLD
So the H6 Bombardier is used for Ankara and UTDC is used for Toronto
Damn, I wish the roll signs were still in there, It would be awesome to see a train pulling in for kennedy
These H6 variants were built by Bombardier under license from Hawker. That is why you have T1 propulsion system on an H-Series. I believe these trains don't use the Hitachi helicopter control unit, I may be wrong.
IT WOULD BE AWESOME
These were actually made by the Ontario "Urban transportation Development Corporation" or UTDC :)
Bayardo Canizalez Bombardier replaced them, and these trains were bought out, being built by Bombardier.
maybe made in Thunder Bay, or Toronto
I remember the h6 trains
Formerly used by the TTC subway system in Toronto, Canada.
No, incorrect lol
These built new in 1998
QuarioQuario54321 k
QuarioQuario54321 It’s 1997
H6 trains already retired from the TTC.
THese were bought new in 1998
QuarioQuario54321 its 1997

HEY THANK TORONTO FOR GIVING ANKARA THE BEST H6 TRAINS EVER I LOVED THOSE TRAINS WHEN I GO TO TURKEY IM GONNA RIDE ON it but ankara metro customized it D:
Edit: nvm they bought it but did they retird
h6 are gone now we have terrible chinese trains
Why does the motor sound different than when it operated in Canada? It didn't sound like this at all. It just had a buzz when pulling into and out of a station.
Ankara's H6s were built by Bombardier, rather than UTDC (*almost* a decade-long gap in construction... and technical advancements!). The H6 sets that ran with Ankara were built to different specifications compared to what the TTC had ordered in the 80's (i.e. Ankara had their H6s built as 3-car sets, rather than the 2-car sets we're familiar with on the T1s). Under the hood, Toronto's and Ankara's H6s each had different electrical equipment, which included traction motors etc. thus why the whine of the motors are different.
@@Greeism Thanks for the clarification
@@Greeism based on some of the videos, they actually seemed to sound almost exactly like the TTC H6s (including the buzzing), but without the idling humming noise, which is surprising because they're supposedly more similar to the T1s under the hood, and thus you'd think they'd sound more like T1s
So I’m assuming this is where all the retired h6’s went when they were replaced by the T1s
Ankara's fleet of H6s were bought new from Bombardier in the late 90's, but were fully withdrawn in 2019 after a refurbishment program run by Aselsan was cancelled. Toronto's H6s on the other hand met their makers after retirement, they did not go to Lagos as proposed by Eko Rail or Turkey like you initially said.
Where are the signals?
Are these automatic?
They have signals now. But they are automatic too.
I helped build some of those cars!
Nice video. Did you ask the driver for a cab ribe or how did you take this view?
Moritz Velten Thanks:) There's one front facing window on Hawker H6 trains. I used that window.
Turkish Elevators Okay, thank you for your answer. Can you do some more tram and metro videos from Istanbul and Ankara?
Moritz Velten I'll film all the metro lines during the summer in Istanbul but Ankara, as I live in Istanbul, I don't know if I can film trains in Ankara.
Okay. That was my mistake because I thought you life in Ankara.
The metro has been changed it looks different now
How?
@@jasondelaca5318 search for it ,I guess in 2013 they change it so I didn't saw the one on the vedio I came in 2018 to ankara
Where is the buzz noise?
this is of course the TTC has the station's look just like it oh nevermind it's not but I swear the TTC still uses it
Those came from Toronto TTC
These were new-build cars, but based on the Toronto cars.

Did the TTC send it to them
No, they were newly build by Bombardier under Hawker Siddeley's license.
Are they retired
Mr Transatlantic Not yet.
Toronto Transit Fan yes they did.
Turkish Elevators and the TTC was the first transit commission to use them.
And TR
Are they still in service or are they retired?
Étienne Matte they already retired in Toronto... In Ankara, they're still in service...
Julian Benson I know. I’m from Toronto. Someone else told me that they’re currently getting refurbished at the moment. When will they be expected to go back into service?
@@etm3300 I occasionally ask about these trains to the municipality. They always give the same answer: They are getting refurbished. I mean after 2 years it is the same. Probably, it is happining too slow or they dont tell the truth.
fiat olsun bu video
