  • This was my first trip to the lost valley in Glencoe. I’d heard so many people talk about it and seen so many pictures that i had to go take a look for myself. It did not disappoint! The lost valley is a one of a kind special place, tucked away between two of the 3 sisters of Glencoe.
    The lost valley takes an hour or so to reach on foot over straightforward terrain and the effort is well rewarded.
    After reaching the valley, we headed up the far end to the summit of Stob Corie Sgreamhach, a Munro at 1072m. The visibility on the day was superb and we could see over to the Mamores, the rest of the Glencoe Munros and some of the more southern Munros such as Ben Lui and Ben Cruachan. We couldn’t have asked for more. Perfect day out on the hills.

    How long would you say, that it takes, there and back from the car park to the summit please?

    • @Insolation1
      @Insolation1 2 года назад +1

      On any of these hills plan for the day. I've done them all, I usually arrived around 10/11ish and I'm up and back down in an around 4 to 5 hours. I've also put my fell running shoes and did it under 2 hours. I've done the Ben Nevis hill race in 2.25, coming back down is the hard bit, not going up, that's easy.

    • @ScottishMountainGoat
      @ScottishMountainGoat  5 лет назад

      Thanks Mari! Well it has a couple of names including the hidden valley. I've heard the story with that is the MacDonald clan used to hide their cattle up here from the Campbell clan. I can see why! I wouldn't expect to see a cow up there! 😆 Thanks for watching! Kris.

    • @ScottishMountainGoat
      @ScottishMountainGoat  Год назад

      I'd say it's a pretty easy one to do in a few hours in summer. Might be a bit riskier in winter with avalanche risk from the surrounding mountains though.

    Awesome video. How much time does it take to walk from the bottom of the valley to the viewpoint displayed from 3:13 ?

    • @ScottishMountainGoat
      @ScottishMountainGoat  4 года назад +2

      Cheers! I reckon i'd give myself about 3 to 3.5 hours going at a leisurely pace. That point is only about 15 minutes walk from the summit Stob Coire Sgreamhach. It's a brilliant walk all the way though!

    • @OldSchoolMetalVinyl
      @OldSchoolMetalVinyl 4 года назад +1

      @@ScottishMountainGoat thank you so much for the kindest reply. I have one more question, would you recommend the regular hike to the Lost Valley if it's raining? I'll be visiting Scotland in two weeks and it's raining season in the highlands. Is it still doable?

    • @ScottishMountainGoat
      @ScottishMountainGoat  4 года назад +1

      @@OldSchoolMetalVinyl No problem. Yeah it's still doable in the rain but there is a small river crossing. On a dry day you can use the stepping stones across it but you might get wet feet on a rainy day if the river is high
