"Mother" es un excelente trabajo subvalorado en su momento. Un álbum a reivindicar. Talento y sensibilidad.
... yo tuve este album recién editado en vinilo por allá a mediados de los 70 ... y la verdad nunca me satisfizo por completo : siempre me pareció que carecía de la regla de oro (conceptual) ... yo ya escuchaba los albumes de YES ...RICK WAKEMAN .... PINKFLOYD .... EMERSON LAKE & PALMER ....GENESIS albumes con una sólida cohesión temática y conceptual ... nunca más volví por lo tanto a adquirir ningun otro de sus albumes....
@@estebanposadaduque6415 Yo también compré y mantengo este álbum, allá hacia mediados de los 70. E igualmente escuchaba a los grupos que mencionas y otros como KING CRIMSON (para mi los más grandes de la historia), SOFT MACHINE, CAMEL, etc... El concepto no deja de ser una propuesta que no por ser válida garantiza calidad. Por ejemplo, Jethro Tull es autor de dos trabajos tan conceptuales como "This as a Brick" y "A Passion Play"; obteniendo resultados muy distantes a favor del primero.
"Mother" es un disco que denota algo de unificación, debido al malestar ya existente entre Jan Akkerman y Thijs Van Leer, y al cambio de baterías durante su grabación. Pero temas como "Focus IV", la soberbia versión de "No Hang Ups" (con un Akkerman espectacular) y el estupendo arreglo que Van Leer hace de el comienzo de "El evangelio según San Mateo", al que titula "Father Bach" hacen de "Mother" un trabajo más que estimable. De todas formas, tu opinión me parece muy respetable, entre otras cosas, porque te gusta la misma música que a mi.

Uriah Heep ... fueron/son otros de mís preferidos ... posteriormente descubrí un álbum que amo : Procol Harum : Live ( con esas orquestas sinfónicas ) qué solían a veces grabar esas míticas bandas ... los trabajos iniciales de The Alan Parson Project son parte de mí banda sonora al igual que los iniciales de SUPERTRAMP ... con Jethro Tull ... Fleetwoos Mac ... Focus ...Queen ... ELO ... Roxy Music ... U2 ... ColdPlay ...ya no fue la luna de miel permanente que siempre tuve con los artistas anteriormente mencionados ... salvo David Bowie que fue el gran solista después de ELVIS PRESLEY ... de todas maneras veo que también viviste la era dorada del rock ...

Great to hear Focus with new material after all this time. They seem to have abandoned the 20 minute epics, which is perhaps a shame as in one of these 3 minute tracks, they seemed to be laying down an extended line, only to fade away. They're still jazz-fusion pioneers here, but with a new eminently accessible approach.

Where does this version come from? Much drum reverb and piano sounds louder throughout. The vinyl has a clear edit at 1:10, as u can hear a cymbal crash abruptly cut off. This is one of my focus caves...

Although this album followed what was considered to be the downturn of this great band, this album was pretty good imo and broke new ground for the band.
