I have superlux 205 USB, but the sound is pretty bad because it has high internal noise and it sounds kinda closed. I bought it for 35 bucks and trying to sell it
yeah listened to this even now on apple ear buds, and I can hear sounds with neumann that with akg I dont ....now I listened to this wearing sony earphones and tlm sounds fuller and broader. akg100 sounds cheap. I have it too btw
yo can you make a comparison of self noise of this 103 vs akg? Neumann has self-noise of 7 dB-A. and AKG has about 16. However, considering AKG is more than 10 years old, I suspect it can have even higher self noise. Also, have u checked the capsule? you can even see how it looks with flashlight (mine is pretty dusty). saying that, there is a video of old neumanns with pretty damaged capsules from dust and other things and they still sounded great supposedly, so it may not be that bad for mic
ok I have this akg 100, but have to admit 103 sounded a lot better, unfortunately for me...akg sounded tiny and trebly, 103 sounded fuller more transparent more clear and bassy. akg still sounds good for what it is, but I was comparing it to the 1100 worth of neumann 103...also, you could make more comphrehensive comparison, like pre amp noise, maybe sing, or some voice or noise that separates these mics you can also throw your Rode NT1 in there.....and no background music preferably and that would be a good comparison.
I have to say that I test them both before a week and the difference between them is very minor. I was with a friend, and he didn't believe what was hearing. I was laughing from satisfaction.. plugged into audient id22.
@@Geodrik83 well. I was wearing Sony mdr650 earbuds and could hear it....I have akg and it's good mic. But it's not neumann and don't sound same on high quality speakers or headphones
That's for sure, neumann is neumann, but again, the gap is minor. How many years do you have the akg ? Maybe have an issue?My reference monitors are Yamaha hs7. I think the mic pres do the most difference. What's your interface?
@@Geodrik83 yup, now I listened with apple earpods and can still hear significant difference (when looking for it), so majority of people would not notice anything, but tlm 103 captures sounds akg 100 doesnt, and also the spectrum of sounds from bass to highs is much more apparent with neumann, with AKG is kind of thin and flat and narrow spectrum of bass and highs spectrum, if it makes sense.....but again you have to look for it...akg still good mic, but have high self noise. I wish it is USB tho....

Yea I can. The capsule in mine is in really great shape. I got really lucky with mine

Have you tried the upper 100 series 120? microphones for slightly more?
Just got a used AKG Perception 100. The mount wont screw in properly.
Tried clockwise and counter, just wont hold.
What could i be doing wrong?
