Because I don't speak the language, I have to read subtitles, and let me tell you, I wish American/English music had this many metaphors and hidden meanings. We create simplistic and easy music, meanwhile the rest of the world creates beautiful meaningful music. As much as I like American/English music, nothing can top this kind of music for me, as music is a language anyone can understand. Awesome cover dongdang!!! :)
Hi! As a fellow English speaker, I can tell you that there are definitely a ton of songs that do have this level of poeticism. You're probably looking in the wrong places! Go out and explore a little. Completely agree that tsumiki's songs are amazing and dongdang does such a good job of covering them though :)

Personally, while I do desperately want more poetic songs like these in the English music, I do find it quite hard to fully capture deep Japanese music. It’s hard to explain but it would take a lot of effort to make such a common language sound so majestic and poetic Ig. Ofc it can be pulled off but I can see the difficulty in it
Try songs from the ‘of monsters and men’ band, Hozier, or even some old rock is pretty poetry heavy. Lots of rap can be very poetic, too. But speaking or rock: one of my personal favs that holds a lot of depth is ‘ When you were young’ by The Killers. And all these ive mentioned are pretty popular! Maybe not AS mainstream as others, but they still have a pretty large following
the parts at the end of song where he makes his voice more aggressive sounds so good on him, maybe better than his soft voice. Dont get me wrong I love his soft voice but when he made it more aggressive it really stood out. If he would only open up more his covers would hit the jack pot.(for me at least)
