15 years ago, a hyper-dimensional rift appeared above the Pacific Ocean linking Earth with a magical world. This show is such a nice breath of fresh air.
If you’re tired of the usual standard Isekai, Moe, High School fluff you see every season. I would recommend you check this one out. It really feels like an anime that would’ve come out during the late 90’s or early 2000’s. The animation can be rough at points, but the characters, wit, dialogue, world building and story (in my opinion) make up for its short comings. It’s also based of a series written by the ‘Full Metal Panic!’ author!

Well this is still Isekai. Just not generic.
The animation is better than most shows this season actually. In fact, I avoided it at first because of the weird character designs, but after watching it I realized the character designs were drawn without the usual slickness of anime to make it easier to animate. Making designs that adhere really closely to simple forms and 3d shapes makes for a super quick to draw character, and these designs are so simple in their form that the drawings even look like cg models in some shots. And when they don't look like 3d models they look like a super snappy action animation. It's an awesome visual style for a gritty cop show with a fantastical twist.
Well the author clearly calm is weird panties loving thing in those few years between the too... Full metal panic had a lot of ecchi...

I see a lot of people saying animation quality isn't the best (which is a fair point) but it just feels right with the tone of the series (at least for me it does)

This show is honestly very interesting mix of different elements- i like how it manages to blend in that over the top 80s cop movies/shows feel (think beverly hills cop or lethal weapon), otherworldly beings and magic theme, mixed with modern tech and still feel grounded at same time.
Basically if Lethal Weapon got mixed with D&D. Absolutely awesome and the dynamics between the characters are pretty good.
Yeah, and for that i love it. Buddy Cop movies are the best!
The author clearly watched every American Buddy Cop movie. The police chief that gets introduced later is clearly the same one from the movie inside Last Action Hero.
Such a brilliantly directed intro.
Wish they would explore the lore a bit more in anime, but hey, its still early days.

@@celinho68 Well, I'm watching some of the "animes of the season" along with this one, and for now my opinion is that it's easily among the best and, for now, personal favourite. I agree best anime might come up to personal preferences, but, come on, "a back up at best"? No way.
It's easily the best. Dr Stone is a fairly decent shounen and Vinland Saga has a unique setting for an anime, but those are the only other contenders.

Violet Fyxe I dropped Dr.Stone it had a nice first couple ep but I lost interest. I still say contenders for top anime this season are Cop craft, Demon slayer, Vinland saga and another I can’t remember

I never thought of putting David Mateanga as the va for a hardboiled style detective, but it works quite well.
Though it would have been funny if it was David Wald instead; he could be like an alternate version of Itami from GATE that had his whole unit wiped out and after the war became a cop with a chip on his shoulder.

thank god one of the best op's this season is finally getting some recognition! the shows pacing might be wack and the animation might be lacking in some scenes, but overall its quite interesting and has a very cute buddy cop relationship going on as well as some serious sad and emotional scenes!
tbh prob the best op of 2019, in my opinion, I think the song and animation just tie everything together. I'm still surprised it's not really talked about. I was hesitant at first because the cover image that was shown for the anime reminded me of other anime I didn't exactly like and I thought the image was making it out to be a fanservice anime about a cop and a weird magical girl that'd be so happy-go-lucky. I was kinda right and really wrong. I hope it gets the love it deserves, from the animation to how they capture the stoic tsundere like character that a lot of anime fail to do without making you cringe.

It really is a cool show. Unfortunately the animation quality isn't the best, definitely can see the budget. But it looks like a lot of heart went into this. Definitely love it! I hope it does good so we can grg an official translawon the LN.

@@nero4884 basically the politics behind the anime ruined the show. It's a great show of modern firepower but that horrible plot is what kills it. This one has some but it doesn't run it in your face.

This opening is so catchy, it got me to watch Cop Craft. I liked it, each episode made me want to watch the next.
This was one of my favorite animes in 2019
This anime feels so realistic. It takes a more controlled approach to showcasing some of today’s real-life problems except with otherworldly people and a kawaii waifu. Politics? You got it. Corruption? Sure. Prostitution? Why not. Murder? Heck. In the first episode, Kei’s partner who dies mirrors the fact that in the police force in real life, anything can happen no matter how careful investigators are. And then immigration. And so on and so forth. These problems are quite serious in today’s society... But this anime turns it down a notch into something amazing and entertaining.
The opening is a great homage to the Lupin III openings from years past.

This anime is a little treasure if you were able to find it. Not that long but it still has such an intriguing, funny but also serious story to follow.

This anime is top tier to me
The opening song itself feels about average, but I think this anime is underrated. I was pleasantly surprised how much I've found myself enjoying it. Cool plot, great character designs, and an awesome dub cast to boot. Hopefully more people give this anime a shot like I did.

I finally found tbis opening after three years
I love when some random anime has a fuckin' banger of on opening. The show almost doesn't live up to how much fun this OP is, being a more subdued, noire affair. But still, at it's best it is close.
The song fits well to the anime.

I would prefer a minima of 26 episodes.
@@axelcalin I learned sometimes after I made that comment, that the person that writes this anime light novel do it as something on the side, so there’s likely not even enough material for a second season (be it 24 or 12 episodes)
