Brilliant video mate 👏 , I was at this game myself. Hopefully you can do more videos on the derbys on the island of Ireland, north and south.

I wish I could go this weekend. But I planned an other derby in Belgium. Would something for next season. Combine a derby in Norway and Sweden in one weekend. What often happens. Like the Østfold derby on Saturday and the Stockholm derby om Sunday.

The most popular sport here ISNT gaelic football and hurling.or rugby union.its actually association football, and I say that as a GAA fan and League of Ireland/Bohs fan

Around the country as a whole, GAA is much bigger than soccer.

@@jacklynch9611 yes soccer outside dublin is not taken nearly as seriously in many cases its just to keep fit when GAA is not played.Dublin levels it off a good bit though

According to the FAI website there are 221000 registered males and 22000 registered females thats a good bit more than Gaelic football where there is 194000 registered male players in the republic but they are far more women about 120 000 at least.May be in dublin soccer is much more popular but outside dublin its very much a casual pursuit to keep fit for GAA

By the way it's not all Northside v Southside, there's also The Westside, often forgotten and represented by St Patricks Athletic, and a dockside north coastal and south coastal club Shelbourne, plus UCD from the south west.

I know there are more derbies like Shelbourne v Bohemian for example. But it didn’t made the cut. It was simply to much information. But thank you for your info maybe for a future episode.

they are talking about the main derby in irish football not the lesser ones

  • @Joseph13163

Socccer is not the most participated sport in the country its level with gaelic atleast in terms of club competitions. They are thousands of people playing 5aside which make up 60% of the participation but comparing like with like gaelic and soccer would be around 200 000 men each if you bring women into the mix though gaelic is a way out in front by 60 or 70 000 atleast. In dublin its probably the most popular still and certainly in Sligo Town,Dundalk, drogheda,Athlone, longford town.
