Haha the timing on this video is crazy. I've been looking for some higher-quality notebooks for my last semester of college in the spring. I think I'll be going trying the Midori MD and see how it goes!
In my opinion a good pen depends on 1. the pen barrel, 2. the refill it is using (incl. the thickness) and 3. the paper you are using. I can use a fine writer (Stabilo sensor) on a cheap scratch paper (which I am using) that wrongly flows (it sucks) and is the perfect match using a uni-ball Signo DX 0.38, uni-ball 101, uni-ball Jetstream Premier or an other common pen using the universal refill of Jetstream ink (the well know parker ballpoint model but then with Jetstream inkt which I imported from Japan). Since four years I use use the Jetstream inkt using cheap scratch paper for notes during my daily call. I am only sometimes changing the pen barrel. Aspects to select a barrel and refill is how fine it must write, how smooth it must write and or the barrel is not too smooth to avoid it's not good readeble.
Nice content as always. Kleid is under my radar but I'm taking a break from purchasing any stationery at the moment and focusing on finishing any left-over. Maruman, Muji have some great loose sheet for gel/ballpoint. And there is a good local brand called Bettino in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam 100gsm that is very versatile for all-kind of pen and ink (except alcohol-based marker).
Bettino sounds interesting, I'll have to look into that! Never seen it before. And good call on the break. I’ve slowed buying but have trouble stopping.
That Kleid thing is weird. I got two of the Life Noble x Kleid notebooks, and one is great for FPs and the other not so much. I think it has to do with whether the paper is white or ivory. Those thin Kleid notebooks have all micro-perforated pages and stitched binding. I like cutting those down to a B6 slim or A6 or FN size (or whatever) and using them as TN inserts. Check out the Hobonichi Plain notebooks. 255 pages, 3.7mm grid, and each quarter has a subtly different paper color.
What fountain pen is that? Looks like a Platinum of some kind. I stumbled upon your channel, I think, 6 months ago and have been enjoying your content since (I also enjoy your older videos). Good luck for 2025.
Use a 5"x7" (+/-) Sinoband which Amazon classifies as A5 but to me is B6. Floppy and small w/ PU Leather fits and bends easily into larger pant pockets for EDC. Convenience trumps paper quality but have no issues w/ these lined pages. Huge mishmash of notebooks closeted but on the road it's small, floppy and definitely w/ lines, dots or squares. I DON'T DO BLANK WELL!
Long time subscriber here, Thankyou for all your excellent reviews, I always wonder one thing: what do you write about with all these pens and paper? I'd love to know. Merry Xmas and happy new year. 🎉
Nice selection of good quality products. Best wishes for you and the channel in 2025.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Of course your handwriting is illegible, as a fellow lefty we have never been known for great penmanship. Thanks for the video!
I really enjoy watching your videos. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks, will do!

My go to is TR and the Midori is definitely my second go to. I get compliments on the TR paper by far.

I've been enjoying your videos and I was wondering if it is able to make a video about ballpoint pens with cap please.
Fun idea. I’ll think on it.
@ thank you😎😎

Is that the orange one? I have one of those and it’s pretty good but slow dry time.
@unsharpen Yeah, it's yellow-orangish with a burgundy spine. I'm not sure if it's new this year, but they also have them blank and 6 or 7mm ruled.
Thanks!

Good spot! It’s a platinum 3776 broad. Fantastic pen
that clip of you readjusting the stack of notebook pads was needed
Ha I’m trying (with some difficulty) to add more action to the videos.
hey can you reccomend some thick pens which are good for long writing sessions (dr grip and uniball alpha series are not available in my area)
What area? I thought the Dr grip was more or less universally available

I’ve greatly reduced my usage of blank as well. It was freeing but I was wasting a lot of paper without some sort of guidelines.
I have a question is the fisher space pen clutch and telescoping pens are they made in the USA
What is your stance on recycled paper?
I don’t mind it for notepad and list type stuff. I feel like I don’t see it as much as I’d expect?
@ fair enough

Notes, lists, journaling, doodling, etc. I try to balance my analog and digital life.
I think I've been watching you since middle school?
Thanks for sticking around!
